[BEP] Is this the end?

The Curious Case Of The British Empire Party

For those that hadn't noticed, this morning seemed to mark the end of The British Empire Party.
This is one of the strangest event I have seen in eRepublik, a party seeming vanishing from the face of the game. Officially BEP has gone, but unofficially they are are still alive on the forums though the obvious questions have been raised. Where do the members go from here? Do we create another party? Do we take over an inactive one? Do we all go our separate ways?

For me the main question is still why? For what reasons could a party be removed from the game is probably something only the admins could answer, but that is seemingly unlikely. The period of maintenance renewed some hope, with the possibility that something went badly wrong with eRep itself. Yet once the game was back online BEP was still missing. Strangely enough BEP is still listed as having 4% of congress according to eRepublik, but unfortunately the Party link does not work.

Many ideas to the disappearance have been suggested, from the ridiculous (BEP was made of multis), the damn right funny (Final Destiny ate them with a side order of chipolatas and some fine whiskey), the unlikely ( The Poles reported it for an offensive name) to the plausible (just another bug). Whatever is the truth the UK has lost an interesting Party.

Sure the BEP has been dogged throughout it's existence as a Party without any policies or as a Party attracting members by name alone, but the rapid rise from nothing to a top five party has to be commended. The likes of Daniel Thorrold, JayTunes95, Big-Joe Pryde, Sir Terry the Great, Dodgy Dude, and later Lemuel Gengulfus and Devioux, deserve to be recognized for their commitment to the cause.

Whilst BEP never got their chance to make a major impact on the political scene, they stand proudly alongside other fallen parties such as LSD and MDU, as parties that promised so much yet ultimately failed to deliver.

For me I hope the previous statement is not the final truth. Maybe BEP will be back and they can rise above the criticism so often directed at them, as there was so much potential there. If not then surely the example set by them is one that can be followed in the future. New Parties can be successful if the drive to succeed is there.
