[APP] Back from the wilderness, ready to serve

Day 1,998, 13:39 Published in Australia Australia by Paul J Keating

I hereby announce my intention to nominate for the position of Party President of the Australian Parliamentary Party.

Some may remember me from my early days in eAustralia as a proud member of the APP leadership team. In those days I was privileged to serve as a member of congress 6 times in my first 6 months, and also held the cabinet positions of Deputy Minister of Finance and Minister of Finance for a number of months consecutively.

Unfortunately during a period on the opposition benches I suddenly discovered I had become what I had never wanted to be - a troll. It prompted me to make a change, I spent time in eSweden working on my rank and gradually losing interest until Draim Alexander (a damn fine person and PM at the time) sent me a shout at an opportune moment and I came home.

It's me, back where it all began

Back where it all began, I of course re-joined my old party the APP. It was great to see venja, who showed me the ropes in my first term as MoF, was party president and doing a fine job of maintaining APP as a leading light of eAus politics.

Now I feel it is time to put myself forward and to give a little back to the party that gave me so much. I have a strong vision for the APP as a party that balances the interests of all citizens, that stands for strong governance, transparency and constructive engagement with the community. We are a party that is internally democratic, but knows how to drive an agenda once the membership has agreed. Strong, unwavering and disciplined, we are a party that can make things happen.

I want to continue building the APP into a powerhouse of eAustralian politics, and to deliver a positive force for the improvement of this nation. On 15th of May, I hope the members will put their faith in me to lead the party for the next term.
