[AMD4CP] Cabinet and Governance

Day 5,672, 11:59 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by AMD.

Good evening my fellow citizens.

In what is probably the worst kept secret at this time, I am once again seeking your vote to become the Country President of the United Kingdom. I come to you this time, not as Minister for Foreign Affairs, but simply as a once again active, reinvigorated, reinspired Congressman.

My general message remains the same. Huey has been a steady pair of hands for the last three years, however the whole fiasco with Appleby this month has proven that our government no longer knows when to act in a timely manner. The ambition of Government has waned and the ability to deliver is severely diminished. We need change, not more complacency.

We no longer have a cabinet fit to govern. Activity is an all-time low, and Ministers (if they are being asked to do anything at all!) aren’t delivering on their small, unambitious portfolios. The fact is simple, Huey is performing the role of every cabinet minister right now, and it is not a sustainable model. We have seen more articles and some attempts to do new things this month but the lack of support around the CP has severely limited that which Government can try and achieve.

In a sense no one can find this surprising. We played for years with a Government that went unchallenged, no competitors willing to stand up and run for CP, and totally disinterested top parties. I don’t think people imagined there ever would be competition, and so to just ‘get by’ standards have been allowed to slip, and slip, and slip, and slip.

That’s why we need to raise the bar. And key to this is a Cabinet that actually works, with Ministers who have clear, specified areas of responsibility and targets so Cabinet and the President can be held to account.

So, building on pledges I’ve made about running an active Cabinet before, here is a full run-down of the Cabinet roles I shall have, who will be doing it, what they will be doing, and why. None of the ‘what’ statements are exhaustive.

Ministry of Finance (MoF)
Who -
Paul Tyndale

What - The finance minister will keep track of income/outgoings, as well as providing a regular report (at least monthly) on said income and expenditure. They will help facilitate financial policy, and will also make recommendations about budgeting and keeping track of donation proposals.

Why - Paul Tyndale is a solid player of many many years experience. Sometimes on the same side of the fence as me, many times on the opposite. But the fact is, Paul is extremely knowledgeable about the state of the eEconomy, and he really knows his stuff. A firm pair of hands, and not a first timer to the job, our finances will be in safe hands with Paul.

Ministry of Education (MoEd)
Who -
Betafoxtrot

What - Will administer funds from the community pot, this will include rewards for community reporting, games, schemes and programmes encouraging interaction as well as specific support for newer players. Extra support will also be given to private initiatives such as the NHS, and new guides will start to be published to support new players and keep up the level of engagement. Will take a strong lead on upcoming domestic policy.

Why - Beta is a recent eRevival to the game and community, but has already made his stamp since he has returned. He is no stranger to governance in the past, and he is willing to take a step up and help engage the eUK community even further.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA)
Who -
Sambo223

What - This minister will be responsible for maintaining and coordinating at least 10 training wars for our citizens alongside the CP, providing us plenty of opportunities for medal runs and fighting. They will liaise and communicate with our TW partners, and provide feedback to the cabinet on the operations of these wars. We will also commit to having the strongest possible bonuses we can in Scotland for the production line facility of our country.

Why - Sambo is no stranger to foreign policy, and most of all, he is willing to do the job. Some people have had very fair accusations about my past performance in the role, so I do not see having more people involved in the coordination here as a bad thing.

Ministry of Defence (MoD)
Who -
Rory Winterbourne II

What - This minister will oversee and implement subsidies such as the “bounty scheme” and weapons giveaways. They will provide guidance on which battles we are to win, bringing back the MoD article as a start. They will also regularly update our fighters on the medal run guidelines. A constant refresher is needed.

Why - Rory is the military powerhouse of The Real Spamicams, long time commander of the Funky Militia, and all around solid guy, as well as fantastic with graphics, thanks for the banners! Rory has kindly agreed to help out and revitalize the MoD for us this month.

Vice President (VP) / Chief of Staff
Who -
Mr Immanuel Kant

What - The Chief of Staff will be responsible for running citizen incentive programmes aimed at increasing engagement and activity. They will also be the delegated individual to issue government updates about what we are up to.

Why - At this point it has become a bit of a long term tradition to have MIK as my vCP as he is probably one of my most trusted advisors and a good friend of mine. Someone I trust to take up the roll that I will be entrusting him with. A safe, reliable pair of hands as my number two.

Cabinet Secretary
Who -
Mr Woldy

What - The Cabinet Secretary is probably, invariably, the most important role in this cabinet. Woldy’s position in this cabinet will be twofold. Keeping us accountable to congress and the public, liaising with congressmen and the speaker and updating them on our policy and manifesto promises, as well as prodding us all into remembering to do our jobs!

Why - Mr Woldy has had a fantastic record as speaker the past few months, and I am proud he has decided to accept a role in this cabinet. He is the ideal person to prod us into keeping our promises and work up, and he knows where I live so will definitely stalk me into complying.

I am also proud to announce that another manifesto promise of mine will be fulfilled. We are all about proofing for the future and getting new blood into congress.
The wonderful pax britannica and everyone’s favourite ‘Who Wants to Win a Million Pence’ host ArchieSmith will be serving in the cabinet as deputy ministers. Archie will be our Deputy Minister for Entertainment, working under Betafoxtrot to provide us with engagement opportunities, game shows and competitions whilst learning more about the technical side of the game in assisting with updating the guides. Pax will be working under Rory as Deputy Minister for Defence, an extra pair of eyes, and a very keen young player interested in the military aspect of this game. Another pair of eyes updating orders will go far!

That said, there is a role for anyone on this cabinet who wants to get involved in shaping a brighter future for the eUK, so simply message me to get involved! Particularly interested in first timers to serve as deputies!

Expect our policy manifesto over the coming days, we have some proper juicy stuff lined up that you can preview here: https://www.erepublik.com/en/main/newspaper/spam-public-action-mag-316004/1

Thank you for the opportunity,
AMD.

sorry for the comically large seal.
