[AL4CP] I Am Willing To Pick Up Acacia's Torch (Day 2142)

Day 2,142, 06:04 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

THE MANDATE I SEEK

On October 5th, I will be seeking your support to build an eCanada of vision, passion, and purpose.

STATE OF THE CAMPAIGN

Opening Remarks

Acacia Mason has laid down the torch of the triumvirate which includes Rylde and I. I am willing, very willing, to pick up that torch and carry it on to October 5th. There is a chance that I may pass it to Rylde, but we have to move fast as time is short and eCanada needs a leader as it faces the challenges ahead.

eCanada is in a tumultuous time. We are dealing with membership in an alliance that we aren't sure fits right, but we really only have one chance to make a good impression. We are wrestling with a tax regime that is attracting people but handcuffing our ability to sign MPPs or provide social programs. The introduction of congress and competitive politics after an eight month vacuum has a lot of people frothing at the mouth and creating division.

On the trial membership in CoT...

I commit to putting forth a genuine effort for CoT. My goal is to put eCanada in a position to affirm or abort the option. I do not want the choice to be in the hands of CoT, along the lines of "Forget about it eCan, you didn't do your 50%". I know I have espoused a more neutral approach, but that moment has passed, we are trial members. We need to look long and hard over the fence during this trial membership while at the same time doing our best as a member of CoT, I highly doubt that CoT will give us a second chance in the short term.

On the tax regime...

I am a fan of the tax regime. It attracts people. eCan's bonuses are weak and they don't attract people. eCanada's population has always been low, our baby boom potential has always been limited. The tax regime seems to be working, its attracting people. The problem is that we aren't comfortable dealing with that change. I know the feeling, I've been the outsider in eIndia and eTurkey. I was vocal in eIndia and it created problems. I was quite in eTurkey and I had no problems other than boredom. My experience here should help out.

The tax regime, as noted in my previous article, supports five MPPs a month. I recommend increasing the tax regime to 2%. This will provide for a mix of up to 10 MPPs and limited funding for social programs like Combat Orders, MU Infrastructure and Food Programs. Ultimately, the budget is up to congress but a 2% tax regime maintains the attraction of a tax haven while providing funding for defence and services.

On the political schisms...

The boil over the past few days has let off quite a bit of steam. There will be additional eUS v eCanada and CoT v neutrality and old fag v new guard and troll v criticize, and I am up for the challenge. I will live and let live.

On my campaign cabinet...

We were running as a triumvirate so I expect all of the names to stay the same. Rylde will be my VP, Acacia my other VP. I will have to confirm with them again, but this is the intention.

Our group had people lined up for MoF and MoFA and MoD however these announcements were not made yet and I do not want to "out" them without confirming with them that they will carry on given the change.

Closing Remarks and Shameless Plugs...

Thank-you to saltydog and IronToader for the images I use in these articles.

The window for CP nominations is quickly closing and it is time to act swiftly. I apologize for the hastiness of this CP announcement.
