#23 Downsides to the News Module

Day 1,243, 16:26 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Gambit8

Hello Readers!

At first I quite liked the new News Module because it helped separate news into nice categories so I can find the right articles I want. Not only this but also you get to see articles that you may not necessarily see because it's neither a recent article nor a top article so it will no longer appear anywhere.

This is all nice and dandy but most people still use the homepage to access articles making it so they cannot see top articles or recent ones, also they will not get to see articles that were not places into a category. I don't have this problem because you can see top articles by going Community>News - Here you'll get your top articles, although it you click on a category then you'll have to go Community>News again to get them to reappear.

As I said, I don't have these problems, my real problem is the fact that articles are now getting less votes. I've seen it in my articles and in the top articles. Votes for articles have gone down, less people are seeing the articles. Maybe because in the old module they cam across articles by accident, now everybody is reading what they are looking for and may not come across an interesting, well written article by accident as you may do with the old module. And of course, with less votes comes less readers, and less readers means less subscriptions.

Subscribing is another thing. I forget to check my subscriptions because there is no longer the alert button, I forget I can see my subscriptions via both the homepage and here:

Maybe this is just something we need to get used to but at the moment all writers aren't getting the votes they would like nor the subscriptions. Some are even writing many articles a day in different categories to gain the subscriptions they want, and maybe that is what I should do because I usually just give news on wars, war tactics, laws etc. Just major events in the New World and maybe I should expand on what I'm writing about and make more articles on different subjects to attract a wider audience.

- This will gain more subscribers but of course this infringes with the point I made earlier about the possibility that the reason for the lack of votes is because subscribers are not looking at subscribed articles.

On another note, it's the start of the Easter holidays for me and this is how much time I have on my hands:

Thanks for reading, leave feedback and your thoughts on the article. It's always nice to hear other people's opinions good or bad. No Quick fact in this article because I already did one today here. But what I will give you is some RHCP since they are my current obsession.
