Тази вечер ще стане ясно кой национален символ ще бъде поставен на българското евро. Кампанията започна още миналата година. До финала й достигнаха пет символа – Мадарският конник, историческият хълм Царевец, Рилският манастир, кирилицата, българската роза и розовото масло. Медиен партньор на инициативата е и Дарик радио.

Какво ще има на българското евро ще стане ясно след дискусия в Националния исторически музей. На нея ще присъства и президентът Георги Първанов.

В продължение на месеци българите имаха възможност да гласуват за символа, който искат да бъде сложен на европарите. 33 символа бяха предложени в кампанията, сред тях Седемте рилски езера, Белоградчишките скали, побитите камъни край Варна, мартеницата, киселото мляко, шопската салата, ракията.

И въпреки че тази вечер ще бъде определен глобалният символ на България, крайното решение за това какво ще има на нашето евро е на Българската народна банка.

Bulgaria is to finally choose the design of the future Bulgarian Euro coins on Sunday when the one-year debates in the national symbol campaign end.

The citizens n the country have been voting for months to choose between the rose, the Rila monastery, the Madarski Konnik (Madara Horseman) rock relief, and the Cyrillic alphabet.

The final discussion is to take place in the National museum of History, as Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov will also attend it.

The national television organized last week another debates, in which historians, ministers, intellectuals and businessmen divided up in team argued about the relevance of each symbol and tried to find out which will look best on the European money.

According to the director of the National Museum of History, Prof. Bozhidar Dimitrov and PR of the campaign Maxim Behar, the Madara Horseman rock relief is one of the oldest Bulgarian symbols and should be placed on the Euro coins as it would also look great on them.

The relief near Bulgaria's town of Shumen depicts a majestic horseman thrusting a spear into a lion lying at his horse's feet while an eagle is flying in front of the rider and a dog is running after him. The scene symbolically depicts a military triumph and was engraved in the rock during Khan Tervel's rule.

Minister of State Administration Nikolai Vasilev backed the idea that the Cyrillic alphabet is the greatest Bulgarian symbol while Deputy PM Meglena Plugchieva said the Rila monastery as a symbol of the Bulgarian identity should be on the back of the coins.
