Why I think that an independent Kosovo can be a good idea

First of all I would like to tell you that Serbia is my favourite foreign country in the eRepublik. When I registered to this game comments were poping around that Hungary and Serbia are like two brothers, later in the V2 Serbia was the only really reliable country in the Phoenix, and after I started to involve in the international politics it became clear why people used to tell me that Hungary and Serbia has a kind of brotherhood. Anytime when any of the two country needed help the other one were ready to give it to her. At midnight at dawn if Hungary, or Me asked anything from Serbia Kistru, Baltazar, Clueless or anybody else awaken were ready to help us. That’s why I say that Serbia is my favourite country in the New World.

It's sure that I’ll write things what might hurt your national feelings about Kosovo and Metohija. Sorry about that, I'm don't want to hurt you anyhow, but I my opinion written below is a valid one.

In the case of Kosovo it’s the easiest way to make things clear to check the Wikipedia, what is a fine source on this topic.

Right now Kosovo and Metohija is an partly recognized state beyond the boarders of the Republic of Serbia, but under United Nation’s administration. In the february of 2008 several member of the Assemby of Kosovo declared the state’s independence, later recognized by 84 UN member states and Taiwan.



For a large part of the players it’s heresy to hear about and independent Kosovo even in the eRepublik, but for the whole community of the players in my opinion it would be great to have it in the game. Why would I say something like this?

If you remember when Macedonia added to the game in last October it soon became clear that it was the best decision made by the team after the start of the V2, because this nation with low population but intense national feelings towards itself and towards Bulgaria and Greece made the eWorld a lot more interesting. Macedonia had several really big baby booms in the past months, and for now she became one of the TOP 5 countries of the eRepublik. Macedonians started to spend RL money on the game, they started to buy foreign accounts just to spend more money on tanking, and now they have several really hardcore spender. For the community Macedonia means a lots of really active and spirited new players, tens of wars in the past months and the complete change in the power balance. This country is a real success both for the development team and for the community. And it’s a rare occasion to have something like this. 🙂

For Kosovo and Metohija, it has nearly 2 million souls, mostly Albanians, but with a really low number of internet users : only 20,7% of the total population, just to compare Macedonia has the rating of 50,7% for 2 million population.

In the case of Kosovo the national feelings might be even greater compared to Macedonia. There is a half-war state and independent movements in Kosovo in the very moment I’m writing of the article.




The possible scenarions after the adding of Kosovo and Albania.

With the new counties the most important thing, which is currently a bit underplayed by the argument about Kosovo is the fact that a 7 million large nation gets states in the eRepublik : the Albanians. Only 3 million of them lives in nation state of the Albanians Albania itself, the others live in Kosovo, Macedonia, Italy, USA, Germany, Turkey etc.

With the adding of Albania and Kosovo there is a large chance that

1. the currently registered Albanians with different citizenship will start to immigrate to Albania or to Kosovo. This fact can highly effect the the countries listed above, for example there are rumours about an Albanian group of 700 in the USA etc.

2. If Kosovo will be added as an independent state, there is a large chance that in a few months a few really big baby boom will occur because of the Serbian attacks, and the need of the national resistance, because Serbia will surely levy a war on Kosovo in the case.

3. If Kosovo will be added as the part of Serbia, there is a there is a large chance that in a few months a few really big baby boom will occur in Albania, because Serbia will levy a war on Albania.

There is a scenario which will occur with small chance in my opinion :

Albania and/or Kosovo won’t have any real baby boom in the future months, and she/they will become a 2nd and 3rd Bosnia, as a nearly constant ‘part’ of Serbia.

For Serbia there are some really hard scenarios if Kosovo and Metohija will be added as an independet state :

1. The national feelings will bring thousands of players to the game.

2. The issue of Kosovo will split the Serbian community, and in a few months the country become a shade of her current power. The Serbs argue each other, emigrations will happen, etc.

3. The issue of Kosovo will split the Serbian community, and in a few months the country become a shade of her current power. A large part of the Serbs will just leave the game, crippling the country.


In any case after the possible admin defense will fade from the countries Serbia will try to conquer both of them, and keep Kosovo under her boot till the eternity, just like Bosnia.

After the adding of Albania and Kosov the balance of the Balkans and the game will change forever. New players will come to the game, and two new powers will rise on the Balkans, which is currently the eWorld’s most intense place, because of the several great powers, and the national feelings. Right now Serbia is able to hold the flood of Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania in the same time, if Macedonia distress Greece and Hungary levies Romania. With Kosovo and Albania this will change, and Serbia with her current power will have pretty hard time trying to hold 5 countries in the same time.

If Kosovo will be an independents state, Serbia will gets another continuously resisting occupied country, which will drain a lot of her power. If Kosovo will be powerful enough to be free, it might be the end of Serbia’s dominance on the Balkans.


Why I would I like to see Kosovo as an independent state in the eRepublik?

Basically because I think an independent Kosovo can bring fresh blood to the game, and the game really needs fresh blood, because the biggest baby providers of the last year - Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey - seems to be out. The old countries like Serbia, Croatia there is less and less chance to get a baby boom, without something like an independent Kosovo.

Why it’s dangerous to add Kosovo (and Albania) to the game?

Well, mostly because it will cause immense ammount of shit, both ingame, and on the IRC. I think that the media flame wars after the adding of Macedonia was small, compared to the ones will occur after the adding of Kosovo.

It is the development team’s responsibility to handle the situation, and I think they won’t be able to do it. There will be bans, and FPs, and the moderators won’t be able to handle the large ammount of articles, wall posts, comments.

I was always for the change in this game. When the Phoenix was dead, I joined with others to create a new alliance, with a weird mixture of countries.

Actually it is possible that the adding of Albania and Kosovo will ruin Serbia and Macedonia, because of the migrations, wars, media flame, but I think the community should really think on its decision on the status of Kosovo.
The developer team made a great decision, from their point of view with the poll, and the two new countries. If they will be big, they will bring more people, more money to the game, if they won't be then...well...it worth a try.

Either Kosovo will be added as an independent state or it won't be the poll what will occur on 12th of October will create an example of the eRepublik Labs. changing the face of the RL copy eWorld.
