Training vs Earning
Eikyuu
I have recently talked to a few citizens about the efficiency of training contracts and I was surprised to find that there are some misconceptions about the whole idea. Contrary to what people expect, you will lose gold while doing it.
I am sure many experienced players know this, but at the same time many misunderstand this due to simple approximation or intuitive thinking. Most of all, the new citizens should be aware of how it works, so I decided to elucidate it with some simple calculations.
Let us assume the best case scenario, so the highest level of training facilities and the 90% discount. Since the contract lasts 30 days, the training gain in strength is
train strength gain = (20 + 10 + 20 + 40) * 30 = 2700.
At the same time you gain the bonus from completing your daily tasks which is 1+1+1+1+5 = 9 per 5 days, or 54 per 30 days. Thus,
total strength gain = 2754 = 11 * 250 + 4.
This means you get 11 Super Soldier medals and 4 points of strength counting towards the 12th medal. The best case scenario is that you started the contact with the progress of 246/250 strength points (or more) which together with the above would give you the maxim number of 12 medals all in all.
Each medal is worth 5 gold (g) and that gives 5 * 12=60g of income. However, we now have to subtract the costs. The training facilities with the discount add up to
train cost per day = (0.19 * 10% + 0.89 * 10% + 1.79 * 10😵
= 0.29g
train cost per month = 0.29*30 = 8.7g.
Note that each item is paid separately and daily so it has to be rounded before being multiplied by the number of days. Putting it all together with the contract's cost we get
total cost = 8.7 + 53 = 61.7g.
profit = 60 - 61.7 = -1.7g.
As you can see, the whole process costs you 1.7 gold. Of course, it also gives you a big strength boost - there is no denying that. However, the point that I wanted to make is that you pay for it - not earn money from it.

You do know that without contract you lose about 31g/month with everything Q4.
I'd say 1,7g is a nice change.
Do you mean simple training with all facilities at Q4? I was planning to write the next article on that - only my calculations do not give your result :/
Yeah ofc, it's a war game (want it or not) , training with all Q4 should be the main goal and it's the endgame objective. If you sum the gold requirements for all the camps it should add around 80 something gold, subtract the 55 or 60 that you'll get from the medals, and there you go: a much worse loss than when compared with a training contract.

I haven't counted it yet, I also thought it will give some profit, but actually it's not a high price for that amount of strength.
Yes, it seems a low price for lots of strength, but keep in mind the huge amount of gold you need for the upgrades first (93.5 for each).
Keep in mind that the more strength the higher chance for BH
Indeed, but the question is how much higher exactly. It might not be effective until a certain steady level of income from other sources, but that is of course a subject for further investigation.

Should also keep in mind that you can also earn TP and RH-medals by fighting, which will increase the amount of gold. And like Sto and Wigga mentioned, more strength = better chance for BH-medals and 1,7g instead of 31g is a huge difference. So in overall you do actually earn gold, just that you can't base your gold income on the SS-medal alone.
The problem is that you can never guarantee the BH. Your chance is higher, but "chance of profit" does not equal profit. The whole point of calculating it precisely is to get rid of unclear relations like "more strength = better chance" - the problem is we do not know how many points of strength correspond to some exactly known increase in probability. To make things harder, the other medals are influenced by weapons and energy. It would be really interesting to calculate that of course, but this would require extensive citizen statistics. At any rate, to get to more complex models one has to start with the basics which can be easily separated like this one.
Also, I am not convinced of this 31g cost yet - will check that next 🙂

Thanks for the informative analysis.
and in 30 days you get a hw medal. so you end up with more gold than you started.........
I always get the contracts...
and yeah like it was said more strenght --> more BHs
so that is even more gold.
That is a fallacy, because you get the HW medal anyway. So if you take the contract you actually decrease the amount you earn that month - instead of 5g you get 4g (or even lose 1g depending on the timing).
And again "more" is not an exact number, and more strength does not guarantee the BH medal. There is no rigorous connection between the amount of strength and the number of medals. With 50 BH medals you haven't even gotten back the money you paid to fully upgrade the facilities yet.
You attribute your gains to wrong causes with this kind of intuitive grouping of income/cost. Gaining strength is important , but please do not confuse it with earning.
true.
so I'll simply say, contracts is why i have 52k strenght and 50 BHs 🙂
without them I'd have less for sure 😃
also more strenght -> more dmg done with the same amount of hits -> more TP medals. and that is for sure.
bottom line is if you take the contracts you might do more gold but it's not guaranteed 😛
I am sorry, but what you wrote (in both comments) is not based on facts or supported by calculation. The only sure thing is what the numbers show - that you gain strength and lose money. Calculate for yourself how much you spent on upgrades alone, and how much you earned from the medals, because hand waving does not prove much.
To speak out of character: It is a sad fact that such games fool you to spend in the wrong way while providing a "feeling" of gain.
so what do you spend that huge amount of gold that you don't use for training? 🙂
the game have more sides to it.
I for example use the gold on training and wars, and I don't have any q7 factories or stuff.
Ah yes - I agree, there are many sides to it and they are connected. Some use war to earn money, some use money to ear medals. It is up to any given person to decide which they want more.
I have not made up my mind yet, still too low level to talk about huge quantities of anything 🙂
