Sad to say, currently no. Legend says that when Benjamin Franklin was asked what form of government we had that his response was "A Republic if you can keep it.".

Our authors of the Constitution and first 10 amendments worked very hard to put every safeguard in place to prevent exactly what is now happening, one group taking control over the country to take away our rights and liberty.
