The Key to Victory?! Ireland's Options
Shoi12
Ah, war. It never ends in the New World, does it? While I have been only around for a short time, it still amazes me that after 4+ years of bloodshed and strife, the world is still in endless conflict, with no alliance stronger than the other for long. Countries fall only to be resurrected stronger than ever (good work Belarus & Turkey). With that in mind, our alliance must find some way to gain an advantage against the sinister forces of ONE to land a crushing blow. And who is in a greater spot...than Ireland?!
I know, it sounds a bit crazy. After all, when you think of powerhouses, maybe Ireland isn't the first thought that comes into mind. But hear me out. First off, where is Ireland?
Alright, so the heart of Ireland is right next to England. If I'm not mistaken, they have a direct path to the Americas, so they are strategically placed between Europe, where ONE has a slight edge, and the Terra/EDEN-controlled west. Also, they own the northern province of Scotland (which by the way should not be just one province, map designers). So what does this mean? They have a direct path to eliminating their rivals in UK. As Canada retreats from Europe, perhaps it is time for Ireland to step up its game and take the British Isles?
That's all fine and good, but there's something else that makes Ireland so strategically viable; after Denmark's quick demise 3 days ago, Ireland now has a foothold in the Baltic region. It is the only country both not involved in direct conflict and is also part of Terra/EDEN. Germany, once a formidable force, has lost most of its capabilities, the Netherlands are too disorganized after claiming back land just hours before to risk being wiped again, and Belarus has enough troubles holding back ABC. Ireland is the only country capable enough to attack Poland and liberate German lands from the north, and the only such country other than Romania, which is involved in its own minor battles.
Ireland has the opportunity to wipe UK and build up a powerful empire that, as what UK's efforts would have you believe, is not particularly easy to seize. Unlike other countries, Ireland's vicinity to the UK give it a better chance and more incentive to hold down the Brits than, say America. It also has the chance to lead the assault on Polish Germany should an opportunity to invade present itself. Not too shabby, huh, Ireland?
Of course, this is only possible with victories in other fronts; fighting the boss is not advised until all his minions are defeated, after all. So, wish us luck! Until next time, take care!

First!
I like reading your thoughts and analysis of potential strategy in Europe. Yes, as an EDEN member with some TERRA connections, Ireland would be in a good spot for exciting action...and if done right in gathering support from allies (easier said than done), perhaps Ireland would become a "powerhouse."
Yet, there is much that goes on behind the scenes that would complicate that push, namely an Irish treaty with the UK. Scotland is part of that peace deal, so Irish expansion is unlikely.
...at least in the eUK, I meant. Who knows, they may blast through Poland and Hungary at any given moment! ; )
Some good reading that is relevant to the article: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-the-president-peace-be-with-you-1993854/1/20
Nice article but wishful thinking mate. Ireland and the UK have a treaty where they get Scotland and Northen Ireland and we get Louth and Dublin...due to constant invasions by numerous occupiers we havent had the opportunity to claim Louth and Dublin yet.
But Ireland are a country of their word and i can not see them breaking that treaty
Nice article, but if America has taught us anything it's this- Loland does not fall easily.
Plus, a Polish invasion of Ireland would be terrible, since now both the UK and Poland have a border with mainland North America. And like Plugson mentioned, Ireland was earlier called out for a peace treaty with the UK.
Still, you never know, do you ? ; )
