[MoD&MoHA]The War Module Simplified!

Day 1,482, 12:21 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

Hello there, and welcome to a joint article by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Home Affairs. This is a guide describing some of the aspects of the war module in eRepublik.

While all the citizens in The New World are fighters on its many battlefield. We consider all of the citizens in the UK Armed Forces to be soldiers, and we to bear in mind that all soldiers could be capable of one day becoming commanders, and that our nation’s military commanders are likely to have the potential to become a Minister of Defence. So with this in mind, we would like to teach you about what warfare entails in erepublik, not just on the battlefield, but from a strategic viewpoint that you will need to be aware of should you ever take on the responsibility of command.
Some of the questions that we’re answering in order to help you make informed decisions from a strategic viewpoint are: When can you attack after you’ve won a region? When you’ve lost a battle, how long until can you start a resistance war to take back that region?
However, even if you don’t plan on one day taking on command in the UK Armed Forces, you might like to read this guide so that you can better understand the developments in eUK’s wars in the present and in the future.

The two methods by which wars are starte😛

1) Declare a war: A declaration of war can only be proposed by the Country President (CP), it requires a simple majority (50😵 of congress votes in order to pass. After the vote has passed the CP has 24 hours to start the first attack on a region. If the CP fails to initiate an attack within 24 hours, then the initiative goes to the other country, meaning they have 24 hours to initiate an attack on a region. War can only be declared against a country that has a common border.

A drop down menu showing an example countries that a war could be started against

However, a declaration of war is very costly! Here is the formula to calculate the cost::
200 Gold + 10% x Number of Citizens at least level 5 in the country which attacks.
So for attacking France, that would be 332.4 gold. Which is very expensive, even for an entire country!
This highly expensive method of starting a war is avoidable however, and this is why everyone uses the second option of starting a war:

2) Setting Natural enemy: The criteria are the same as in declaring a war, you need to share a common border with the other country. The Natural Enemy is chosen by proposing and voting on a law. This law can be proposed by both the Country President and by Congressmen. They choose from among a list of neighboring countries in the same way that another country is selected in a declaration of war. The law is voted on by the congress and president like all normal laws are. However in natural enemy proposals a super majority (66😵 of votes is required to pass.

Declaring a Natural Enemy has a few advantages:
>It costs the country nothing.
>Citizens of the country get a 10% bonus to influence when fighting against the Natural Enemy.
>Citizen of the country get +0.5 bonus to strength, when training in the Training Grounds, as long as there is a Natural Enemy.

Disadvantages of declaring a Natural Enemy
>You cannot easily sign a peace treaty with your Natural Enemy. There must first be a vote to set no Natural Enemy before a peace treaty can be signed.
>The Natural Enemy cannot be changed until 7 days have passed, unless all common borders between the declaring country and the Natural Enemy are broken, such as being taken by a third country, or if either the declaring country, or the Natural Enemy gets wiped from the map.

Other things to bear in mind about Natural Enemies:
> A country can be chosen as Natural Enemy by more than one country at the same time, but one country cannot choose more than one Natural Enemy at a time. ie UK can have only Ireland as a Natural Enemy, while Ireland and Canada can both have UK as a Natural Enemy.
> The Natural Enemy bonus does not apply to allies in any way.

Initiative
The aggressor of a war holds initiative as long as they keep winning battles. Holding initiative allows the country to decide which region to attack, the country that does not hold initiative cannot attack the other country’s regions until they gain initiative. When a battle is lost, the initiative changes to the other country, so they be able initiate an attack against region of the other country.

It is important to bear in mind that when a country has initiative, the Country President has only 24 hours to choose which region to attack. If an attack is not initiated within those 24 hours, then eRepublik randomly chooses a region, and an attack is made against that random region.

Resistance Wars
To start a Resistance war you need to be in an original region of a country that has been conquered by the enemy, the region has to have been occupied for more than 24 hours in order to successfully start a resistance.

A few things you need to know before you start a resistance war:
> You need to be located in the region where the resistance will be started
> You need 1000 currency of the region's original country
> Besides you, you need 9 others who meet the same criteria.
> The resistance force of the country cannot be fighting a resistance war in another region of the same conquering country. ie UK can only be fighting one resistance war to liberate a region from Irish occupation, however, UK can fight one resistance war in an Irish occupied region, and one resistance war in a Canadian occupied region.
> The region cannot be involved in another battle.

When all the criteria are met and the 10th person joins the resistance, the battle can begin.
