[MDP] Congress Report (Day 2568)
CptKaydee
Hello Everyone,
I'd like to get started a new series reporting on the various (public) bills that are being discussed within the congress chambers, and the many government decisions that take place. Below I will analyze two important dealings of congress this month.
Speaker of the House
Voting for the November-December term of 2014 opened on November 28th and concluded a day later. Both candidates were members of the Canadian Progressive Front. The vote results are as follows.
Jonathon Edwards 13
Oinyo 15
Abstains 2
Analyzing the Results: Although both candidates were members of the CPF, Coalition parties (IW, PFC and SUFFER) strongly supported Oinyo whereas members of MDP and CPF voted for JE. This is the first major coalition with within the House of Commons, the performance of Speaker Oinyo has been stalled as he had taken the first two days of his tenure off.
Immigration Reform
Immigration reform is currently a hot topic with in the House, with many members of congress pursuing the repeal of the Immigration Council. The following members of congress have voiced their proposals.
Funky 24 (CPF): Wishes to see the creation of an executive cabinet position to oversee immigration, chosen by country president.
I-Bleed-Blue-93 (MDP): Wishes to see an individual elected by congress to the executive to oversee immigration.
Xander Kross (MDP): Has made the first drafts to replace the current Immigration and Security Reform Act, significantly with the idea of compromise between the ideas of Funky 24 and IBB. The idea is that the country president nominates the individuals to run for Minister/Director of Immigration and congress than elects such an individual to oversee immigration.
**EDIT** Initial repeal proposed by Le_Petit_Fantome
Analyzing: It's likely that Xander Kross' proposal will be put to the voting floor. Support is divided between Funky and Xander's proposals. Party lines have not yet stated their intent.

solid article
The CP does not need to be pulling at the stings of the board. Take this office out of it.
What board?
people constituted as the decision-making body of an organization... IE the Immigration Council

I really don't give half a damn how the Minister of Immigration is elected, as long as that person does their job. My goal is to find an equitable compromise that all parties find at least minimally acceptable.
Those who do not agree with the policy I have written are welcome to write out something different and submit it to the thread for inspection and debate. If it works better than what I have written and causes the least amount of argument, it will replace what I have written in the early drafts.
I should like to point out that the topic was introduced by Le_Petit_Fantome (Max Maher) of PFC, who posted a French translation of the first draft and hammered out some of the details.

Good article, glad to see some activity, sadly it is just about the IC though 😛
Should update this though, there is a new topic about our budget. Also why not reports on CDC?
Report on CDC:
"No one said anything yet. And if they did, it's a government secret. Move along, nothing to see here."
We are going in the right direction
Oinyo seems to have a problem logging in to the forum.

I hope this is just something simple and not someone causing trouble.
Glad to see someone reporting what is going on in Congress. Even if it's not much I think each party should have a Congress person that could give a weekly report.
It's a task I'll gladly continue.
Good report Cpt!
Good update
I wonder what Etemenanki's up to these days?
Also how is Zappa not the first result when you Google "titties and beer?"
Cool! Looking forward for some meaningful results!
