I knew I made A good choice...
My bank has closed because the economy sucks here and the game is long longer fun. I am able to return the money of every single depositor, with interest, so that nobody will be hurt.
I wouldn't call it a "failure" at all.
The mutuals are awesome. I'm a new player and I don't have a ton of money. I work in a military commune so I'm even more poor than normal. I noticed that since I have to buy 60 units of weapon parts I was slowly losing money each day. I bought a few mutuals and it pays out just enough to cover the difference. I know most people who play the mutual game are rich, but it does work for us little guys too. Check it out.
