The Truth on ATLANTIS, PEACE, and the War in Mexico
Cromstar
Much has been said and made of the current events in Mexico and the United States as a result of those events, so its time for the public to learn a bit more. Uncle Sam and Congress have been busy the last few days, and a few things have come to light that require us to work together to disseminate the truth to the public of the United States, our allies in ATLANTIS nations, and the world at large.
First off, is the relationship of the United States and ATLANTIS. You may not be aware, but ATLANTIS recently elected some new higher ups, including the head honcho, and he is very concerned about bringing ATLANTIS forward into the New World and as something more than a bunch of nations that don't like PEACE.
Uncle Sam has taken steps to ensure that our allies in ATLANTIS are still our friends. The leaders of a number of nations, including the UK and Sweden, have announced their support, and other nations have made sure to renew our MPPs. ATLANTIS is as strong as ever, and getting stronger. We have not withdrawn, nor have we been kicked out. Much was said about ATLANTIS, mostly as the result of the words of a traitor to the United States and ATLANTIS.
Secondly, PEACE has been obstructionist, and seems willing to disregard the welfare and well-being of Mexico. A member of PEACE was willing to negotiate a cease-fire in order to arrange peace-talks. Uncle Sam was willing to abide by it and posted it on the eRepublik forums. Neither Mexico nor Portugal signed it, and today Portugal attacked the Central Highlands. It should be noted that, by doing so, Portugal will own Mexico's most business-intensive region, and will almost certainly move on to the Northeast eventually. Why is Portugal not giving Mexico back it's territory, and now taking it's most profitable?
Worse than that, Uncle Sam has attempted repeatedly to negotiate terms with Mexico and Portugal, as he well understands that simply regaining their lost regions will not bring this matter to a successful close. However, those two nations have repeatedly refused to even talk to the United States. Uncle Sam has offered to negotiate to replace the hospital Mexico lost in exchange for an end to the war, but PEACE has simply brushed him off and Portugal opened a new front. Mexico cannot afford for Portugal to screw it over like this. If Portugal proceeds to take the Northeast, there's no guarantee that Mexico will recover all those regions, and even worse, if they do that, the United States won't pay them back for the hospital. They'll be broke, cold, alone, without any business, and defenseless when Portugal leaves.
What does this mean? It means that PEACE doesn't care about Mexico. When we are willing to consider returning Mexico to their antebellum status, PEACE is content to merely strip them clean and then dump them on the ground, naked and alone. This is an outrage. Why is Mexico not coming to the table to negotiate with Sam so they can get back what they lost before Portugal steals any chance of it? Why is PEACE so callous and cruel to their 'allies?'
Simple: PEACE is about the personal power of a few, not about the general welfare of nations. Mexico will come out of this war much worse than they had been, and it will be the fault of Portugal, and the President of Mexico. Sam has extended the olive branch, and an offer to make things better, and received nothing but a slap to the face. It's time we recognized the truth of things: PEACE doesn't care about the public. Portugal buffs up itself and will leave Mexico behind as an empty shell, having served its purpose.
To the citizens of Mexico: I'm sorry that such horrible things have happened to you. Your nation will be left for dead by PEACE, and there's nothing we can do to help you now, because your leaders don't seem to care about you. You might blame us for invading, but we had no intention of destroying your nation. We wanted to help build your economy and your government so that you could be a strong, independent nation. That will not be possible now. I give you my condolences, and those of a number of other Americans.
It's always sad to see a nation destroyed by the selfish machinations of PEACE.

Inane propagandistic malarkey. Sugar-coated lies. Wishful thinking.
Had the USA been the least cared about Mexico, they wouldn't have attacked it in the first place. The rest is just junk talk.

🙂 Are you serious? It's hard to belive.
lol.
Should remove the word "Truth" from the title. You knew invading wasnt going to "save" us from the Polish, so save your lies for your elections.
Oh wait, those are tomorrow, arent they 😉
"Why is Portugal not giving Mexico back it's territory, and now taking it's most profitable?"
Probably the same reason we tried to give Oaxaca back to Mexico.
(because we're much more afraid of Português than Español)
Ha! Ha! Rhetoric.
Insane article. Sounds like USA attacked Mexico to help them, and Portugal giving it back to Mexico as a punishment.
Seriously? Hypocritical junk like this is why eMericans are looked down upon.
When we invaded Mexico, clearly we did it for the betterment of Mexico. Now that Portugal is doing it, though, clearly they're doing it for selfish money-grubbing purposes. Bull-freakin-plop.
Wouldn't PEACE need to take the highlands in order to aid Mexico in taking the final territory?
This is the president's declaration about the war:

You can find the real reasons here Cromstar, but i think you know that.
eCongress! End the war! Impeach Sam! The USA cannot afford to be brought down by this administration!
Excellent, but completely baseless, rationalization that only an American could love.
Lets suppose that what this writer says is correct, would it actually be a bad thing? I'd suggest that ePortugal taking these regions is actually potentially good. If the eUS administration had a once of talent, they would really use it to their advantage. But given the resluts so far, I wouldn't hold my breath.
can we just leave uncle sam alone?
he is just a sick and weak old man who think he still rules the world.

From a US point of view, it still hasn't really been a bad exercise. Me and most of my NG platoon are at 90% wellness. That's a huge lift in production in the US economy. Everybody's healthy, and the US economy is booming. NG soldiers got experience, and damage points, and rank. We won't retain a single Mexican territory, but that doesn't matter to us. We never needed them.
Yes, I know, Mexico is angry, and I don't blame them. Hopefully, you'll find that your new Portuguese masters are nicer to you than we would've been. I hope they're willing to chip in for Q5 defense systems in Baja, the Northwest, and (once you recover it) the Northeast. That's what a true ally would do. And they should build you a Q5 hospital in Central Highlands, like Sam promised to do.
Mexico is in PEACE/Portugal for good now. We have defensive systems in most places on our southern border, and I suspect we will have them in all border regions soon. Good fences make good neighbors.
An Iron Curtain falls from Brownsville, Texas, to San Diego, California.
But in the meantime, I have to say the adventure was mostly good. I never thought I would see the Yucatan, I got to fight in it this war. Several of my guys ranked up (including myself-- never would've made SGT without this war).
Mexico was a "passive" PEACE ally, now they're active. Who cares either way? And if Portugal wants to cross the Rio Grande, they will receive a lively reception.
"An Iron Curtain falls from Brownsville, Texas, to San Diego, California."
When are you going to figure out Erepublik borders dont exactly work like RL Borders? We have access to more states than that through all viable fronts...
@Jon Barack Bluejacket:
"I hope they're willing to chip in for Q5 defense systems in Baja, the Northwest, and (once you recover it) the Northeast. "
So you think eUSA in the future will try to attack eMexico again, a country which is only a fraction of it? Since those regions only border eUSA.
And at the rest... bs bs bs. eMexico was already eUSA neighbour, eUSA started the hostilities. ePortugal was eUSA neighbour before too, eUSA started the hostilities. So the "good fences make good neighbours"... well I believe the only bad neighbour in this case has been eUSA.
Misleading article title... no truth in here..
uhmm whats this?
"I'm an angel, I'm santa and Jesus in one person! I don't care, will kick you in the face if you are acting funny!"
the multiplex personality of eMerica?
Dr. Demagogue and Mr. Hyde?
xD
Seriously. eUSA's invasion was entirely unwarranted. The eMexicans were bamboozled by some ePoles who ran off with their treasury--in no way did that warrant an immediate attack on eMexico, which just wanted to rebuild its economy (which was only slightly damaged by the ePolish debacle) in peace. Now their economy is in tatters, the cost of living having skyrocketed with the increased demand for food and goods caused by mass warfare.
eUSA could have extended a helping hand to eMexico in the way of treaties, foreign aid, or by holding the ePoles accountable. Invading eMexico and declaring it a liberation was ridiculous! A liberation from whom? The ePolish had already done their damage and gone on their way.
I don't know much about the history of ATLANTIS and PEACE, but from this debacle, PEACE is clearly the alliance of choice.
Can we trust ePortugal to return the captured territories to eMexico? A heck of a lot more than we can trust eUSA.
