On Congress and Reform

Day 1,833, 06:02 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Joku Gones
Happy results day!

Yes, congress results have just been announced and a thank you is in order for everyone who turned out to vote (Especially those who had the good fortune to vote UKRP of course).

Congress has been announced and I’m very pleased to be starting my first congress term for the eUK as part of the UK Reform Party. For those who are interested in why I chose to join this party and finally was invested heavily enough to run you can find my previous article HERE. This article will focus on two sections, my commitment to act in the benefit of eUK in all my decision making and the meaning of the word ‘reform’.

Congress

I was chosen by the party president of UKRP to run as the second listed candidate for the election and I am very pleased to find myself elected as one of 4 members of UKRP fortunate enough to gain a seat. However, it is important to note that whilst we were elected as representatives of our party, by voters who will have generally originated from within our party, we are elected to serve you, the electorate, and the eUK as a whole regardless of whether or not you voted for us or not. As such I would like to publicly swear only to act in the interest of the whole populace when voting, proposing or granting citizenship and would encourage all members of congress to do the same. For those who are now entering our first terms Blue and Evil wrote a fantastic article (HERE) which really sums up our role in citizenship and I hope common sense, not party lines, will prevail in debates and voting. We are too small and fragile a community to stereotype entire groups/parties and should seek to ensure our Government is a prime example of the cooperation that can be achieved.

Reform

As I’ve pointed out numerous times, my political party is the UK Reform Party but unfortunately we have found this to be little more than a name over the past few months. Senior leaders and long serving members would, I think, all agree that there has been an element of stagnation that has been overcome in the past couple of weeks. For such a relatively small party, our private sub forum and IRC channels have leapt into activity and we can finally once again proudly state we are actively seeking reform throughout the eUK. But what do we actually mean by that?

I view reform as a different entity to ‘change’. Change can be sudden, quick and unnerving and may not even be the best option sometimes. Change could be a sudden flipping over of the table because we think the leg looks a little wonky. Reform on the other hand is slower and more pragmatic, like the book placed under the table leg. As a party, discussions are ongoing about the reforms that are critical to the future of the eUK, both as a domestic and a foreign power. Already we are pushing for a centralised Government workforce(Our presentation from Minecrafting Instead can be found HERE) and we make no plans to stop there. The status quo, whilst certainly not terrible, should not be maintained whilst there is still division, inefficiency and anger present in the system. Congress this term, as a consortium of no less than 7 individual parties each with ideals, concepts and differences that push us apart should unite on one agreement, the need for reform.

Please feel free to vote and subscribe, click this lovely blue writing through to the UKRP party page if you are interested in becoming a member and do not hesitate to contact me, ingame our out, if you have any queries and I would be more than happy to speak to you.
