[SFP] They Might Be Giants

Day 3,060, 22:55 Published in USA USA by wookyjack

But the Socialist Freedom Party is not intimidated by them.

(Yes. This is a real band name. But the title of this article is not about them, unfortunately. It is about the upcoming election in the Socialist Freedom Party.)

If you haven’t checked out (tl;dr) of this article yet, then I appreciate your time; because a fire inside has been lit, and right now it's damn hard to put out.

The Candidates

Gnilraps
Arguably the most active, prestigious player in USA right now, and even the entire game of erepublik. If you don’t know him you’re probably a newb or live in a hole with Dell Fargus. You name it, he has done it. And if you happened to name the one thing he hasn’t done yet, he will do it...eventually.

Tom Cauchon
A still relatively new player in the USA community, and not as universally well known. He has some notable accolades at the tippy top of the USA government. But what is most recognizable about Tom is his unwavering, fierce loyalty to his friends and party. When the cards were down and most of the USA was ready to lynch the Socialist Freedom Party, he stood tall and protected his brethren.

”Legitimacy” and “Prominence”

Gnilraps wrote about how he wants to revolutionize the Socialist Freedom Party. You know what? I can respect that. This party preaches that to each their own. But the platform he chose to do so is, frankly, pants on head stupid revolutionary. Let me show you:

Yes, I understand that some of you like being the mosquito. But realize this: by minimizing the National positioning of SFP through agitation, we are increasing the relative power of the other T4 parties. You understand that by turning SFP into the Blacklist party, we are making the game easier for everyone else, not harder. We are quite literally playing ourselves out of the game.

You know what happened this Country President election? The USWP lost its best player. AMP is continually dying off, and the Federalist Party has barely hung on to the number 1 party spot over the past year. The WTP have whaled along as per usual, but have no real leaders; or at least no leaders that care anymore. The only party that has been a steadfast, legitimate, unturned stone is the Black Sheep Party.

And gnil claims the Socialist Freedom Party is playing itself out of the game?

au contraire mon frere

If I recall correctly, the Socialist Freedom Party has been around since 2009. There is too much history to cover regarding that fact. But what gnil is vividly pointing out is that since the SFP came into relevance as a top 5 party half a year ago, he feels compelled to protect this party, and wants to amend the constitution so it's in line with the eUSA forum...which essentially is saying: Let’s make it like the other top parties!

I lol’d again. But then I became VERY worried about him at the same time as my eyes became wide as dinner plates reading his article to the end. However, I don’t blame him or his proposed attempts to get this party out of its harshest critics’ sights. This party has an even worse rap now than it's had in its entire existence.

BUT DO YOU KNOW WHY THAT IS?

REALLY?

Because we didn’t sign up to play eUSA Forums. We do not live in apathy with the rest of the country playing the same old strategy of the metagame that the overlords of the eUSA forum like to do each month. For anyone who was around in 2009 and is still alive, and has been a SFP member for all that time, they will tell you this party’s reputation is not on the line. It is headed exactly in the right direction as it always has been. If I’m wrong. I would like to be told so by one of those members now. Because Dio knows how many times I’ve declared to this party what kind of messed up sh** I’m thinking of doing. And the party leadership and members applaud my initiative! They have liberated the crap out of the dictatorship even when I was gone.

No. This party is juuuuust fine, in my opinion. And there have been many a mention of how difficult it is to find good players to step up and lead this country. If 4 parties struggle to produce an ideal candidate each month under a dictatorship, then how can one more party help the other 4 by participating in their woes?

Gnilraps pointed out how much he admires this party’s adversity. Don’t get me wrong. I would be a sonofab**** to bad mouth gnilraps and his compassion towards the players in this party. Easy Company has had a long lasting presence here and will continue to do so long after he is gone. (lolyeahrightgnilrapsleaveerepublik) gnilraps would do ANYTHING asked of him to help this party. But, gnil, dude, your platform is too revolutionary for my blood. Can you believe I said that?

Gnilraps recognizes this party’s greatest strength: The Writer’s Guild. For that alone I would endorse him for Party President, but the legitimacy and prominence he preaches doesn’t quite match up to the tenacity, vision and complexity of what Tom Cauchon stands for and the burden he has endured as its leader.

Tom wrote an article today that made my jaw drop. The amount of criticism and hatred Tom has amassed for this party, and for me, is astonishing. A LOT of former SFP members have also endured hardships caused by myself and the actions of this party. I do feel bad about how their trust and reputation was obliterated by the actions of this party. But to be quite honest, I don’t think they knew what the hell they were getting themselves in to. The SFP was on a hot train headed up and it was an attractive, addictive drug that left you jonesing for more.

But I also felt so goddam proud at the same time during this read. This is who we are. This is who we’ll always be. When you have been around this group of rabble rousers, and have burned as many bridges as I have, and still have not become the worst enemy of the state. And your friends are defending every rational, and irrational, thought that comes spewing out onto this digital paper, you have to ask yourself: what is the value of changing a party’s constitution to align itself in a system that will never change itself?

Ask yourself that again.

It's messed up, right?

The eUSA Forum is an immovable object. The Socialist Freedom Party, and its sympathizers, are an unstoppable force. If you’re familiar with that saying then it should be all too clear what Tom means in his article. I strongly urge you to consider Tom for Party President this election. Gnilraps is proposing to change the integrity and values of this party that have held on for years to a system that is not that of the system on the eUSA Forums.

Its pretty clear to me. Do you want to be like every other party or are you proud of your solidarity?

Tom? Is it time yet?

PS

Gnil, if the point of your article was to start a fire, congrats, it worked. 🙂

Now let's fan the flames.
