Join the new world

Unfortunately during the race for party president, candidate Melissa Rose had to drop out unexpectedly, and has left the game to be with her family in a time of emergency.

There is no way I can write a proper tribute to all of the incredible work she has done for the party even in my brief time here, I could not encapsulate it in words and it would be a disservice to try.

I’d simply like to say: thank you Melissa, and we send all of our thoughts and our love to you and your family, and live in hope for when, or if, you return.

I decided to ask her some questions and get the ball rolling on this month’s media storm!

Hello Fingerguns, congratulations on winning the party presidential nomination for the Federalist Party this month! In this short interview I’d like to prod you a little bit about your plans for the month, and talk to you about how the Feds can benefit from your particular style of leadership.


First of all, I’d simply ask you to introduce yourself to some of the newer feds and other readers who may have joined the game after your time, and don’t know who you are yet.

Hello Feds! I am fingerguns. I am synonymous with this party for a reason- I’m the most p/h son of a bitch you’ll ever meet. I have always valued the party infrastructure over any other aspect of this game. I think a strong party is what makes for a fun gaming experience. Everyone needs a running crew and I have dedicated 100% of my game-playing time to building up the Feds to be the most kick ass running crew any smart, ambitious player could hope for.

Your goals seem to centre around the theme of change, what kinds of things do you plan to change, and why do you think they are necessary now, given the context you have of erepublik over the last few years?

I think with the game shrinking and so many members becoming national figures the party has been neglected. In this race for PP I heard it said out loud what members think we are... what I had always feared the party would turn into- a social club. That stops now. The social aspect of the party is important, but we can’t JUST be a social club. I’ve seen parties operate like that before and they crumble from the inside. There’s nothing holding them up other than enjoying each other’s company THE MOST. Those members are easily peeled off and then the party dies.

What is your vision of how the party will look by the end of the month?

We’ll be getting back to our roots a bit when it comes to party infrastructure and focus, but I also anticipate us doing very well nationally. I think people are picking up on the energy shift in the Feds and they want in on it. I can’t say I blame them. Moments like this are a great time to get involved with us. It’s going to be really fun and there is a lot of room for new ideas and new relationships, even from older players.

Has there been anything in particular that has surprised you about returning to the game?

Yeah, I felt like I was walking into a nursing home during naptime. The energy level was crazy low. Trying to engage people was like pulling teeth. Which I guess would be really easy in a nursing home...but it wasn’t.

What plans do you have for new feds? How can we make them feel part of a welcoming community?

A little bit of effort goes a long way. Especially when practically no one else is putting any effort in at all. This game attracts smart, interesting people. Even the idiots are smarter than your average person (not a hard and fast rule, but, ya know, generally).. Just be around. Say hi. Get to know them. You can build all of the programs you want, but unless you have someone actually saying hello to people, it’s all for naught.

Sweet! A little known fact about me- I’m an excellent baker.

As a final note, is there anything you’d like to say off the cuff?

Yes! I am excited to be wearing the bossy pants again in the Feds. It was a super weird election that I wasn’t planning on winning, but I accept this victory as fate. This is going to be a very good month that kicks off a very good season in the Federalist Party.
