[Fed Media] A candidate comparison, Orikfricai Interview, Organisation

Day 3,028, 10:54 Published in USA USA by Lunete2.0

I wanted to make sure the federalist party prerogative was ensured by making sure everyone voting today made the right choice. So I asked media deputy Valk Dezra to compile a research report on the two candidates, and present his viewpoint on them, as he is a relatively new player, I assumed he could give us the best view on them, as he has few previous biases. Make sure you choose the best person you think capable of leading the country

Valk Dezra
On the 5th of March, we vote for the next President of this eUnited States. This will be the first presidential election I will take part in, and I am looking forward to it. Not only because I can vote for the second time ever, but also because it gives us an opportunity to put someone in that position that cares about the job and wants to improve us from our current situation.

In preparing for this piece, I reached out to the top five party presidents, and a handful of other people specifically recommended as those who might be able to offer insight on the candidates. Not everyone got back to me, and the majority of those who did were hesitant to offer an endorsement or speak about one over the other. I can appreciate this sentiment, but as a result, this piece will primarily focus around each candidate’s platform and my expertly newb analysis.

First, we have Orikfricai. A two term Federalist Party President, a member of multiple Presidential Cabinets in various roles, a twelve time US Congressman, and the incumbent President of the eUnited States, Orik has actively been involved in eRepublik since July of 2014. During his presidential run, he focused on two primary issues. These two issues were specifically, “maintaining our status as a world power across the globe and bringing together our people for that task” 1. The first appears to be a success. During the presidency of Orik, “we regained our cores and picked up a few in North Korea” 2. While it appears to have been pretty straightforward and was done without fanfare, he did accomplish what he laid out in his candidacy announcement. Additionally, he has not spent any CC while both expanding, while also taking steps to ensure lower taxes 3. Orik also recently announced Sweden will be joining the Pacifica alliance, which will strengthen our foreign affairs 3.

The only issue that has been levied against him was the lack of media communication and usage during his term. Upon reviewing it, there were six White House Press Reports released, and one from Orik’s paper, The Dwarf Times. Even by his own account, this was a failure on his part and something he wants to remedy moving forward. To be clear, this is the only point that I have seen raised against Orik’s term in office. Moving forward, Orik plans to grow Pacifica, continue the conservative approach to the war module, and improve the use of media 2. I believe his recent increase in attention and media communication has demonstrated this, and likely can be contributed in no small part to the new competition.

That competition of course is Israel Stevens. Two time country president, six time Chief of Staff, two time Secretary of State, five time Secretary of Media, and ten time AMP Party President, Israel is assuredly no newcomer to the political scene and his experience is not in question. He has been out of the loop for a while, but is rapidly coming up to speed, and launched into the race with a passion. The articles that were published to launch his candidacy were direct and to the point, and are centered on a desire to, “turn the clock back a little bit on the United States,” 4 to a time when the game was more alive. An admirable goal to be sure, and judging by the turnout in party elections, his entry into the race has capitalized on the concerns of many.

With Israel only recently coming back to serious activity and not having just come through a term in office, there have not been any major points brought against him. A concern that I can see here is that he is coming back up to speed and is not necessarily as in touch with the current events. That said, in the last few days he has taken the time to get brought up on much of our foreign and domestic affairs, and establish a plan to move forward. He has aggressively campaigned on party forums and is taking advantage of the momentum from his initial article.

Ultimately, the question comes down to which candidate offers a better option for the month ahead. I believe a vital component of this issue can be found in a message sent to me by Hale26 regarding this article:

“Regardless of the winner, the community demands change in governance. Our community needs to be more active, more engaging and (especially) more inclusive. This isn't the flavour of the month - this is a hard, new reality of our political landscape.”

Despite only being here for a total of almost three weeks, I would completely agree with this assessment. I’m going to stop short of actually suggesting one candidate or the other, because that decision is really in all of our hands. What matters most right now, as demonstrated by this election, is that the community as a whole needs to step up. If you aren’t active in your party, why is that? If you have an issue about something, have you voiced your opinion? If you have voiced your opinion, have you suggested a way to improve the situation? The truth is that complacency is not an issue only in the political scene, but in every facet of this game. If we want a better governance, it is up to us to enable and support that change. To quote Eldridge Cleaver, “You either have to be part of the solution, or you're going to be part of the problem.”

I would strongly urge everyone to vote tomorrow, in order to do their part to revitalize this country.

I asked Media Deputy OlafIverstone to go talk to the federalist primary winner Orikfricai, and ask him any questions he thought might be interesting. Enjoy.

OlafIverstone

OlafIverstone:How do you plan to keep new players here and encourage them to become involved in the eUSA community?

Orikfricai:The easiest way is to continue to try to engage them with programs like American University and others. Unless you feel involved, you're not likely to stick with the game or community.

OlafIverstone:I agree. Didn't the eUS used to have an Ambassador program for new players who want to become involved in politics? Is it gone, and if it is, do you have any plans of bringing it, or other programs like it, back?

Orikfricai:I don't recall an Ambassador program. However, our American University program does fill at least some of that function, I believe. Though, it's more of a basic game mechanics and low-level program.

OlafIverstone:You said you want to publish more articles, what do you see as an acceptable amount?

Orikfricai:I don't know if there's a defined "acceptable" amount. But, I do plan on using my personal media probably bi-weekly-ish.

OlafIverstone:What is your view on Pacifica and our role within it?

Orikfricai:Pacifica is a major, important part of our Foreign Affairs. Our role, as a Founding Member is major. We're the largest and deal the most damage of any country in the alliance.

OlafIverstone:How do you plan on getting MU’s to work together to accomplish Pacifica and US goals?

Orikfricai:I think, by-and-large, most of our MU's fight for US and Pacific goals without any prompting. Certainly they're enticed more when CO's are used, but I don't think it'll be a problem.

OlafIverstone:What are the long term goals of our occupations of parts of North Korea and Japan?

Orikfricai:North Korea is a long-term colony to provide continual TP damage. Japan's temporary occupation is to push Spain out of the area.

OlafIverstone:You have been around for almost 7 years now, why wait so long to run for CP?

Orikfricai:When i created my account back in 2009, I don't even remember playing. So, I must not have played long. This was at the beginning of College and the Army, so I was pretty busy.
've only been actively playing the game for...maybe a year and a half.

OlafIverstone:Any final remarks?

Orikfricai:Nope
