[Boh] The Unity Party

Day 2,098, 19:06 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Bohemond4

Dear friends, readers and the eUK,

The Unity Party takes a lot of criticism it seems, some of it justified, most of it not and fallacious at the same time. We are accused of perverting the course of democracy, not having sound policies, being inflexible, an oldfag party and promoting ourselves as ‘not as bad as that party’.

I would like to state that this perception of TUP is wrong.

The Unity Party does not stand for elitism or for old players, but for all the eUK in solidarity together. We support long standing apolitical initiatives, including the NHS and running a welcome package on the forums. Our members are also free with helping all citizens with food, weapons and advice.

Likewise, we train those who seek it to become effective members of the eUK society: whether this is politically, militarily, economically or some other way. We encourage and raise you up to where you want to take your game experience. Our members frequently get the chance to serve in Congress at a young age, some as young as ten days old.

Our policies can be found here which sets out exactly what we stand for, as decided by the party membership. We also believe in a pragmatic approach to changing our policies based on what the needs of the eUK are at the time.

Now, an accusation raised recently that I have heard is that we are subverting or squashing democracy. Not really sure how we managed that! The question is one of game mechanics, or those things that are codified into the game. One of these is pure democracy: we cannot weight the vote, we cannot change the vote, we deny a top 5 party from voting.

What a party can do is create cloned ‘blocker’ parties to keep others out the top 5. This is something The Unity Party does not engage in doing. Likewise, a party could create mass amounts of multi accounts to gain more votes, again, we do not do this and will actively remove and boot any member caught cheating this way. Ask Sir Scott Williamson (returned under the name of BigAnt) about this as he was removed for the same reasons.

There is no evidence of The Unity Party perverting democracy, the only ways you can do it we just do not engage in!

Finally, I would like to touch on a criticism I think is honest: that we hold ourselves out as ‘not as bad as the other party’ and I think this is a reflection of an idea that self-deprecation to political allies is a good thing, Well, lets face it, some of our policies are similar to various political parties - such as keeping TWO and Poland as good allies. But we do not consider ourselves to be ‘slightly better than X, Y and Z’ but we think our policies and attitudes are, overall, sounder than them. And this is why we believe you should vote for us and be a member with us.

Because we stand, and have stood, for the eUK through thick and thin. Through the good times and the bad times and the times in between.

So if you want a party that offers real, practical solutions, a party that will boost your career at whatever age you are, a party that stands for the eUnited Kingdom then join us today.

Cheers
