Author's Note: This is written in my personal newspaper and this is my personal opinion not my opinion as president of Belgium

This is my response to JdlF article Stand for truth and also responds to comments by people who are also against the current wipe. As the title of JdlF article says he presents his opinion as truth while this is ofcourse not the case. Nobody has an absolute monopoly on wisdom and truth especially not JdlF. Truth is a three edged swor😛 your side, their side, and the truth. I do claim that what I say is the truth, but I do know facts and most of the statements made in JdlF are incorrect.

eBelgium always been divided both in real life and in Erepublik. eBelgium has a long list of internal conflicts, when I came to eBelgium for the first time many many moons ago the party Belgium for Belgians lead by Thomasred was the biggest party and commanded a good part of the two clickers much to the dismay of Res Belgica and most of the other parties. That conflict eventually ended in an attempt to PTO Belgium for Belgians. Later a civil war broke out between the people in power (Also called the Wardist because of the most outspoken of them being Ward De Bever against the opposition (Shadowist, after their most outspoken person shadowukcs). The most recent conflict is over the PTO and how it is handled. The people in government believing that the wipe is the best option and people who disagree and who do not believe that we have a organized PTO threat and that the wipe is killing the community. There have been short periods of (relative) peace in between those conflicts but in most of eBelgiums history there have been internal struggles.

In this latest internal conflict in eBelgium people like JdlF, Chihiroh, Tommot, Boklevski and other do not believe that we have a PTO, they call it terms like "pto group" and "the so called PTO'ers" calling this a civil war and do not believe that they the Croatians who were given Belgium citizenship illegally, circumventing the immigrations rules have any ulterior motive. They believe that the Croatians and friends in eBelgium do not mean any harm to eBelgium and the community. JdlF made in his articles accusations of mismanagement, wasting the treasury, killing our community with wiping and fighting the PTO'ers and with that losing citizens.

Chihiroh posted on the forum as an example the names of MaryamQ, Cotarius and HK416 as people who left eBelgium but from the two whose reason I know for reason non are because of the being PTO'ed or being wiped. MaryamQ had one leg out of the door for month's and was persuaded to stay for the last 3 CP terms. One of her (main) reasons to leave was because of her frustration people like Chihiroh and JdlF refusing to acknowledge that there was a threat and to work with the government and HK416 left because he want to return to his (real life) home country and fight for his country and not for Spain against Portugal (the first one we had a MPP with a while back). Although I don't know the exact reason Cotarius did leave before the wipe not after. Fact is people left, not because of the PTO or because of the wipe but for many other reasons. Although people against the wipe accuse the wipe being the main reason for the shrinkage in citizens they are unable to show data that this started with the wipe but facts are that number of citizens of shrinking (almost) everywhere, the game is dying is a phrase heard a lot these days.

As for the accusations of wasting the treasury, when NLSP was Minister of Finance under the presidency of MaryamQ we had a very big treasury and a reasonable income and to not let money go to waste and sit there in the treasury unused or got stolen if the country would be overrun by Croatians there were multiple giveaways. The money left was safely moved to Bank Manager who kept the money save in case a PTO'er would be elected as president. At the time the give aways where a good idea that but they could not have foreseen changes in the game that would be made. With the changes in the game if a region was conquered the income of that region would go to the country that had conquered the region. With eBelgium being wiped meant that most of our income went to Poland and eBelgium was left with a much lower income. This is not the fault of previous (and current) Presidents and Ministers of Finance, although PTO'ers like to accuse them of mismanagement and even (false) accusations of moving money to their own accounts. It was unforeseen circumstances, changes in the game we could not foresee.

The argument that it isn't really a PTO because it is a tiny, disorganized, non-caring group of players but I beg the differ. Until the last Party President election it was always though to be the case but in the last Party President elections they have shown to be a lot more organised than they wanted us believe they are they had a lot of last minute votes that they used just before day change and due to their organisation they won both Res Belgica and Liberation Front. This isn't just because Aries mass-PMing everybody to vote because if that was the case they wouldn't be able to win in Res Belgica for getting so many people to move to Res Belgica and vote there and people holding their votes until the last minute means they are organised.

People who are against the wipe do not see any progress, we have been wiped for a couple of month's now and see people on our side leaving and not so much with the PTO'ers (although lord Lukausus, a very vocal member of the PTO'ers left) and question if the wipe already give positive results. According to Chihiroh "PTO'ers won't go away or don't have reasons to go away. Thus, wipe is ineffective" is simplistic thinking. Fighting a PTO (especially one in a more advanced stage) is a long term operation, (although we wish there was) there is no quick fix to make the PTO nor the PTO'ers go away. If there were a quick fix for our situation I am sure we would take the solution.

Another arguments against the wipe is that it takes the fun away and that it removes future perspective or at least prospects of any positive result and claim that having a country to defend, that's one of the most important motivations to play the game. According to Chihiroh being wiped and fastening the process of people leaving or new citizens not staying by removing the ability of having a "country" to be proud of. I disagree with this, although you may not have any regions we still have a country, why wouldn't you be proud of a country just because they are wiped? What changed that you suddenly wouldn't be able to be proud of your country? One should be proud of your country no matter the situation or else it's not real proudness if you're only proud in good times.

According to some of the anti wipe people the better option would have been to not fight them and try and collaborating with them that it was a mistake to recognizing them as a threat only gives them more power and more motivation and that we should have welcomed them like other foreigners. Even if that may have worked in the past we have passed that station a long time ago, with the current relation between the eBelgium community and the PTO'ers being what it is there is no base for a healthy relationship and a base for collaborating. Personally I do not believe that they are really willing to collaborate, from my experience and from what I have seen in the e-world over the years is that PTO'ers like Thorin might act reasonable but it is only a facade to get sympathy but in the end are not willing to work with the original community of a country or if they do they use it to legitimize themselves or/and to seize power. Collaborating would also mean even more people leaving because they are unwilling to work with them.

eBelgium should take an example to eDenmark a country smaller than eBelgium but more homogeneous community. They have been under PTO threat for years now but have overcome all obstacles by working together against the PTO threat putting the need of their country above that of themselves and understand that they are a small country and prone to PTO threats and understand what you need to do to keep your country save. eSouth Africa is another example of a country that has a long history of PTO and PTO threat's and understand that in those circumstances things that might not be be done although not popular of fun. eBelgium had not had much or any experience with PTO's and are under the illusion that this could and should be fixed as soon as possible but that isn't an option realistically speaking. We need to dig one's heels in, play the long game and stay wiped and hope the PTO'ers get bored and leave if they do not get to further their PTO.

My main problem with the people complaining is that's all they do. They say that "the wipe removes the fun or any future perspective for as long as it is active, and that an indefinite wipe isn't a solution" yet they do not come with a alternative for the wipe. They complain about the situation but do not come with any solution for the situation, they come with rhetoric but no long term policy real policy to get rid of the PTO'ers. When asked what the alternative is for the wipe they say that the only alternative is unwipe, but they are not sure how that could turn out, they think that the wipe doesn't improve our situation. Complaining about something and not having a (good) alternative isn't helpful in any way, if you disagree with a policy that is fine, but if you have no alternative it is just complaining for the sake of complaining which I believe in some cases with some people that is exactly what it is.

As I already said early in my article, eBelgium has a history of internal conflicts and like in real life will always keep having internal conflicts. In this time that we should unite against the PTO'ers what do we do? We go bicker amongst ourselves. This time, with also a outside threat it eventually might be fatal for eBelgium. I am hoping that the people come to their senses and see the situation for what it is but it seems people have dug into their idea's and not willing to change their minds. I think it's shameful that in even these situation we are unable to work together but that, it seems is the nature of (e)Belgians.
