Recently Portcolumbus made his official announcement that he was running for another term in Congress. In his announcement he came up with what I thought was a great idea. As many of you may know, I'm a big fan of newer players. Helping them is one of my favorite things to do.
Basically the idea he came up with was somewhat like the Mentor Department. To quote his article "This would either be a special committee set up by Congress or something like a "Newbie's Bureau" to help direct newer players in the right direction for assistance."
I happen to think this is a great idea, it advances the Mentor Department.
I'd like to share what I think could be done about this. The idea is a good one, but I would like to add my opinion to it. I'm a mentor, so I understand what we do in this department. Once or twice a week we message our assigned newbs asking if they need any help. We answer any comments, questions, or concerns that they may have.
From my experiences in recruiting and mentoring, new players have a set of goals but they don't know where to start. The most we offer to any of these players is free food or weapons. What if we could actually help them? They want to know where to start.
We could offer them opportunities, easy jobs to start off. When Gnilraps ran for President a few months ago, he had an internship idea. A new player could basically observe what government officials were doing. Now, Gnilraps didn't win, so this never happened. I'd like to make it happen, and that is my main goal if I'm elected to a second term in Congress.
Providing jobs for people is the best way for them to progress. Too often are they told "here's some food, now go away." When people come to join my party, they're offered opportunities. If you want to be a writer, you can write some guest pieces in our paper. Want to be a politician? We have a Congress tutorial along with sign up forms for every party's sign up sheet. Things like this will help our younger generation grow and excel.
What do you say? Let's actually help people.

I think it's a good idea
Votado.
Wouldn't it be great if it served as a sort of umbrella for the various party outreach efforts too? To ensure some kind of standard benefit?
Sounds like a good idea to help the new player, there should be some sort of basic economic growth guide for the noob just starting out, i kinda figured it out myself and made a few mistakes.
I'd like to help too!

I wish you the best of luck on this. Just the other day I was thinking of how many programs we used to have to help the newbies. Now all we have are warning messages about PtH and spam offers to join various MU's that are either damage drains or not worth the time.
We used to have a system of government that worked. Then we handed all the power to the same group of people who stated that if you were not cheating and not avoiding taxes, you were doing it wrong. We reap what we sow..
