To All Congress Members
Australian Parliamentary Party
Good day dear eAustralians,
As a Party President I have obligation to inform APP members about the reasons to apply for congress. We choose self-coup to protect our nation from foreign invasion, we never vote for real Dictatorship. That means all congressmen should have the power to propose a law and to vote.
In Henry’s pre-election article he said “We also must continue our efforts to conduct government business and debates on our forum.” Those words are not just another lie – they are real. Guagature is working hard on that, Cal is working on that, Gueneo is constantly updating information and he also provoke users for activity. I am one of the forum’s admins and I shall not distance from the responsibility to keep players on track providing them the possibility to express their rights, especially the congress members.
Wishes, words, promises …
It is time for action now! We will never start using the forum if we don’t have a strong reason for that. PM threads in game are nice, but we can’t vote there. Different discussions can be mixed causing unnecessary confusion.
We need clear debate and anonymity guaranteed vote. In the forum we have a poll option which can fully replace the voting in game. Just for example soon I will make a law proposal (donating 20 cc to particular Org and I will explain the reasons). In the article I will provide a link to the proposal in the forum senate section. Voting and debates have to last 48 hours – the time during the article is visible. In a proper time of the second day our dictator should implement the law abstaining his vote. Comparing to the poll results dictator will press “Yes” or “No” when the vote ends.
Our nation has 40 congressmen, each one can propose two laws. We shouldn’t abuse our rights making Australian dictator crazy by voting 3 laws daily, all with “No”. All proposals must be well motivated.
In addition we can discuss other issues like:
- Funding self-coup;
- Rental agreements;
- NAPs;
- Providing some of our regions to allied nation when needed.
We can also debate on AS, declaring war, joining/leaving an alliance. All that will be made in senate section only, without publishing articles (sensitive).
Congress proposals are mostly economical related. I hope that farmers will be much more interested to join the congress where their voice will be heard for sure.
Those who are in the congress, please make registration in our forum and ask for access to Senate section. In order to make the procedure easier it will be good if your nick name in the forum is same as your name here.
Share your ideas as a comment below the article. You might have much better suggestion.
PS:
That article is released from Org, because it is very normal all party announcements and suggestions to be published this way, as it is very normal each government department to produce articles via specific government newspapers.
Faithfully yours:

I agree, we need all discussions and voting be moved to a forum based op. Even if we raise some of the proposals here in an article with a link to the forum.
Self dictatorship was a way to prevent take over due to the game mechanics, however we are a democratic country and we still need the peoples voices to be
heard. And the forums are currently one of the best ways for that

"In the article I will provide a link to the proposal in the forum senate section. Voting and debates have to last 48 hours"
This is where we tie ourselves up in red tape and has been a sticking point for a very long time.
The old ways of 48 hours voting for then a 24 hour in game session is far too long
Let's look at a couple of scenario's
1. NE another country.
There would of already been some form of discussion elsewhere or a retaliation press for a country NEíng us. So a total of 24 hours forum and in-game discussion is plenty of time for people to have their say and the yes/no button to be pressed.
2. Change taxes.
Again a discussion would most likely of been held previously but let's assume not. After 12 hours of a senator first raising it there should of been sufficient discussion of a figure that it should increase/decrease to, at the 12 hour mark the Dictator should press the button and senators then have the 24 hour in-game time to complete the fight as to whether it should go ahead or not.
48 hours is dragging the chain and puts us back to endless arguments/discussions that go around in circles. If you put your name down for senate then you should be getting into the discussion early and getting the votes cast ASAP.
I agree!
We take far too long to reach a decision on critical matters. I do not know how much this relates to inactivity and idleness, and how much to our natural tendency (convicts... go my SA heritage!) to defer responsibility and authority for decision making to a mythical "someone else". If you are not careful, I will repost my first article with Kipling's poetry. But without the booze influence, and with the skillz I learnt in the meantime. If you've forgotten the en😛

Congress/senate is both a position of power and a position of responsibility and obligation. You should not nominate yourself (nobody else can put you on the party ticket) if you are not prepared to do a little work. Checking in-game once a day at least. And checking in the forum for votes and debates once a day at least. This is not a big impost on anyone's time. Both sites are compatible for my out-dated iPhone.
If something winds you up, and you want to write a 2000 character reply (like I fear this will become), then that is a good use of your time as a senator. You are expected and required to express your opinion on important matters. Write an article even!
If nothing else, take your obligation seriously. Make an account on our forums. Participate in any debates. Vote on things you are asked to. Comment on articles. FFS people, this is a truly anonymous place you can air the most outrageous views. Indulge in role-play if that's your thing.
Whatever you do, don't be silent!
I completely support your opinion. 48 h are long time, but I remember once ago we had a rule for 24h of discussing before the real proposal, then another 24h for voting.
Another thing - eAustralians have different prime time - Europe, America and Australia. Most probably our dictator will not be able to react at the 12 hour mark. What if some of the congressman propose Trade Embargo with Chile. We have reasons to do that, but from other side it is not very wise and will bring us only negatives. Even when the proposal is rejected Chilean government will be warned about it. So it would be better if our dictator understands completely what will cause one pushing of the button. He can't act blindly.
Situation with NE is different - when we are faced with war we need to take our decisions faster.
It is extremely important all proposals to be voted in the last possible moment. SA are well organized and even in democracy they can abstain the vote to the last hour. Our discipline is weak.
Red tape sux..
Do you actually have anything constructive to add?
That is constructive. I was here when we had a forum based senate in the past , I know more about it than you do. Nothing ever gets done.. Things just drag on and on.. And if you have to act quickly on a matter because of a narrow window of opportunity you can't because you have to put it through the snail mail forum senate.. Then you lose the opportunity.. Red tape don't work in this game, because the CP changes every month.. It's the reason why we got rid of it in the first place and hardly anyone wanted to participate.. Now they are putting it back in.. It sucks..
No, that was unashamedly negative. Constructive offers something as an alternative, improvement or change.
Your reply was explanatory, not constructive.
Being constructive would involve saying "E-government is too hard. We should have true dictatorship by whoever is strong enough to take it and keep it".
Ilene, we really need to have an in-game pm that is side-tracked constantly with a limit of 30 people, since we have will only ever need 30 senators input. This really stops things dragging out and stream-lines things.
Realistically forums are no different than a group of people on IRC or in-game pm's for the discussion. It comes down to what people are willing to do to help the country forward
I know G. I made two this month...
