The World is changing...

Day 723, 04:18 Published in Romania Romania by Mistwalker

As we could see yesterday Italy has announced its withdrawal from PEACE GC. A founding member, a pillar of the past in both military might , social and ideological involvement has concluded that the said alliance no longer represents their interests and in-game morals which make it fun for them to play. An honorable decision coming from them however let's exercise our imagination and see what this means for the rest of the world.

In all likelyhood France will be joining them soon. The French president Lyne Faynel has already pointed out several unpleasant things about their treatment from the PEACE leadership and even general population. From what I could tell by surveying their media there is also a strong feeling of segregation circling France right about now, the attitude of Hungarian or Serbian players towards the people of France not really helping to keep the bonds of fellowship strong. If there will be a breaking point in between France and PEACE it will probably be when Indonesia finally decides to go for Malaysia's original regions, triggering their MPP's. I'd like to remind you that both France and Italy signed MPP's with Malaysia after the Indonesian war declaration.

We all know that this is the deathknell for PEACE, this game outside of what most people think and what some have forgotten is actually won with fresh ideas and rhethoric and when two of the main countries supplying these get fed up and leave, the rot inside can only worsen.

Let's see however what the options of the two free thinkers would be outside of PEACE-GC.

1. Neutrality.

We all had it. No one liked it. It works fine for small countries who only want to focus towards social, economical and political development and not get involved in the wars and interests of different factions across the New World.

At first this is what I think would most likely be the choice of Italy and France on the branch of neutrality: Create their own alliance, perhaps an old version of PEACE, dedicated to ensuring the sovereignty of all nations regardless of their previous activities and affiliations and try to draw other non-alligned or even PEACE or EDEN countries into it. The appeal of this is almost too great to ignore and in all the history of eRepublik every time a country that was part of an alliance feels left out in the cold and lonely it tries to band up with other "lost children".

SOL also seems like a good idea, even if it's composed mostly of Asian countries with the current state they are in I doubt they would turn down two valuable members such as Italy and France. SOL also has observer members from both the Allied Forces (Bros + EDEN) and PEACE and could be a step up in maintaining good relations with former allies as well as make new ones.

2. Broalliance.

This is by far the most inoffensive choice regarding joining former adversaries. The Broalliance consisting of USA, Canada and Australia is the step-by-step well re-written concept of Fortis. Sure, they failed initially to form up because of the UK who was secretly moving towards PEACE but the harsh realities of WW3 as well as the lessons in humility learned there has forged them into a reliable unified fighting force for freedom worldwide.

The statement of Canadian elected president William Duncan of seeking an unconditional peace with France as well as the French resistance to the will of PEACE to atacking the United States has, I think, brought the two entities closer together. As far as Italy is concerned it has never engaged directly with any of the Broalliance countries but instead hold a link through the former Theocratic members who are now part of the Italian community.

3. EDEN

I intentionally left this option towards the end because there are a lot of factors to be considered here:

The main factor I believe to be Spain-France/Italy. Even though the two countries are good friends in RL their history in eRepublik has been a troubled one, each has tried to conquer the other in the past and failed to keep any lands. It is foolish to think that the people of the three countries have so easily forgotten each others deeds and are now ready to hold hands in friendship, love, etc.

However EDEN's wrath is not necessarily turned towards France or Italy but more towards PEACE and the way they try to police the world. In the past the representatives of EDEN even went as far as to tell the presidents of the two countries that in the event they should choose to retire from PEACE they would not be atacked without provocation. Shoot, the Supreme Commander of EDEN can confirm this.

These facts as well as the wise leadership on both "sides" will probably ensure the neutrality in homeland region conflicts in the Spain-Italy-France area.

In the beggining neutrality with EDEN is also the best thing they could possibly get, membership of EDEN is not easy to obtain, the principles of being part of the Brotherhood dictate that no one becomes a member for personal gains but because they are friends and they must first prove this to everyone else before the other members even begin to vote on their admission. In this regard I can only hope that the bonds of fellowship between countries and the citizens who aren't politically aligned will scare away any ghosts of the past coming to darken each others' future.

While for the most part this article is speculation I also wanted to salute the events taking place in Europe now in my own way and wish the two countries the best of luck. Of one thing I am certain, the world is about to shift and change dramatically and Italy and especially France are about to become the catalyst for this great change.

Thank you for reading this far, please leave a comment if you can and have a nice day 🙂
