[TUP] New changes, new party

Day 1,318, 08:23 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Artela

Dear friends,

Hello and welcome to The Unity Post [Artela Edition]. Due to our org being deleted to protect our party funds from the admins, we will from now on be releasing from the PP’s paper.

Firstly I want to deal quickly with this nonsense posted by ex-member Stefan1992. Contrary to his article, kicking him out does not constitute the total destruction of our values and our future. Words cannot express how flabbergasted we all are at his sense of self-importance.

The abbreviated version is: he wanted to run for CP (Country President) but, as you all saw, he was a terrible candidate with no activity, no policies and no understanding of game mechanics. So, being a responsible party, we removed him before he had a chance to become CP and lose us all our regions or something. He took this extremely personally and began ranting on about how he was the best CP candidate ever, had single-handedly made the party great etc etc. I don’t really understand how that fits with our “team values” but you know. Anyway, he followed this up by risking a UK PTO (political take over by enemies), to the point where the current CP jamesw publicly condemned him. Stefan then denied there were any PTOers. The end result was him continuously ranting and making the party an unpleasant place to be, so we unanimously agreed to boot him and our PP removed him from the usergroups.

Anyway, onto more positive things 😃 TUP is undergoing the latest massive internal renewal. As you may have seen in the last election, our results were quite poor. If poor congress results are the price we have to pay for this renewal though, it’s a sacrifice we’re willing to make.

Just over two years ago when our first major reforms came into play, we completely changed the way the party operated. Nowadays, the last of those changes have become defunct, and we are updating to TUP 2.0 so to speak.

The spirit of these reforms is to hold to our core values, but recognise the changes in gameplay. Two years ago, a new player didn’t earn enough money to buy one piece of Q2 bread each day. Now, that reality is inconceivable, with a new player earning £130+ a day. Two years ago, Q5 weapons were a luxury, one that even the oldest citizens couldn’t afford on a normal wage. Now, anyone can fight with Q5 weapons.

These changes mean that the concept of rich and poor has changed. The gap has remained large (if not grown even bigger) but the basic level of gameplay has become at least a little bit more exciting. Now the gap is between the self-sufficient and the non-self sufficient. The property and land owners and those who don’t own their own companies.

Giving young players the support to become self-sufficient should be our new, ambitious target. This comes in the form of advice, community, and financial backing where possible. TUP is a tight-knit gamer community, and the people who are active in our forums/IRC are like family. Nobody would hesitate to lend money, or support their fellow players. We offer each other stuff at discount, we share business ownership, start up new companies together, share in the profit.

TUP is more than just a way to get elected to congress. Yes there is a political element to the party. But unique amongst all the parties, we are a true gaming clan, with a gaming heritage going back to our founding fathers. We support each other financially, in the media, even militarily. We play other games together. Over the years I’ve seen advice given from members to other members on everything from which course to do at university to instructions on how to properly drink scotch (no ice, like a man). Our members are all ages, all inclusive. We have people still at school, we have teachers. We have university students and even the odd closet lecturer. We have business managers and employees. Coders and people like me who see programming as heathen magic.

Whatever you want from this game, joining TUP and actually getting involved is probably one of the best decisions you will ever make. Due to our unique structure, we not only have a large roster of current members, we also have our “e😜at” members who are abroad in other parties, or who have left the game altogether. Once you join the TUP family, you join that community. Wherever you go in later eLife, you’re still welcome with us.
