Military and Foreign Affairs.

This is the 2nd part of my Manifesto, covering my ideas for Military and Foreign Affairs. Having been around in the military for some time, and having been Minister of Foreign Affairs fr sometime, I have had an idea or two about what we can try out.

I picked the brains of several people both in and out of the military to get a better idea of whats what, and this is what I've produced. If you're wondering where my paragraph on Eden and the Brolliance are, I left them out. Simply because it's really hard to say we will keep treating them as we are now into a paragraph. FInally, enjoy this easy reading manifesto and on the 5th, vote Woldy.

Foreign Affairs

Phoenix.

Needless to say, relations between us and Phoenix are very good. Our representatives are active and always liaising with members of the alliance and always giving it our all. We participate with the alliance a lot, and I am very happy with how the alliance is led. A competent team of SG’s and SC’s keep the alliance running smoothly and deal with any hiccups appropriately.

Having been deputy Secretary General since the Alliance was established; I have a good idea of how the alliance functions and what we expect from member states. I do feel however that the UK as a country could improve relations with several countries within the alliance. In order to achieve this, we need to encourage interaction between members of the public.

This can be done by utilising the media, a short article or report, like we’ve been receiving from Lithuania these past few days. I also feel that a great way to make ourselves more ‘chummy’ with other countries and this is joint military strikes. Organising our armies to strike in synchronisation with allied countries, to really enhance the feeling of comradery and cooperation. I recently attempted this, but unfortunately the strike was called off. Never the less, the more we try the more we will succeed.

Ireland.

These past few months, we have tried trolling the Irish, we even pretended to be interested in attacking them. We’ve tried a lot of different things in order to entertain ourselves and so far all we have gotten out of it is very poor trolling. Never the less one Irish candidate this month does promise to attack the UK. Whether or not he gets elected, and whether or not he actually goes through with it are two very different things. Either way it’s up to Dail to pass a declaration of war, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

So, unless our aggressor is elected I propose a policy of complete complacency towards the Irish. No need to troll them, even though I doubt we can stop Maddog. Hopefully, by not giving them they attention they crave they will stop talking so much and realise that if any buttons are going to be pressed we’d much rather give them the opportunity to press them, seeing as we have already pushed so many in our time.

The World Cup.

No, you’re not reading it wrong. World Cup season is upon us, and even though I’m not a huge fan of football (I want North Korea to win) there are many many people who are. A number of weeks ago, we bashed together #Eurovision and ended up sitting in a channel with loads of other eRepublik users, taking the mick out of Spain, singing along with Greece and dancing to Germany. (At least, I was dancing anyway.) Towards the end of the event we made it clear that the channel was operated by the eUK Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I am sure this would have left a lasting impression. Although it may not have reached out to many people, it would have left a lasting impression on those who were there. After all it was pretty fun and I met a few new pals by running it. The World cup is a much larger and more popular event and we can use a similar to concept to make new friends across the eWorld, the leave an impression on some of their more active users, have a bit if fun, and take the mick out of Spain. After it all, I’m sure people will leave thinking “those eUK’ers aren’t all bad” and if any important people are in attendance we can even make new pals. This idea may sound a bit odd, but new concepts have to be brought in to better relations and the best way to do that is leave to leave a positive impression on the citizens of eRepublik. We need to bring a new field, that of public involvement and communication into the MoFA.

Military Matters

Army.

Most of what the army does, and how it functions is chosen by the army itself. Regular meetings to tackle issues that arise and members of command chipping in with ideas help the army progress. Fortunately, I be a brigadier, so I've been lucky enough to sit in on a lot of these meetings and have a pretty good idea of how it works. However I do have an idea or two on how to improve things, which I will approach the command group about after refining the ideas. They're frightfully simple, and should hopefully help lessen the workload of a few members and optimise the higher echelons of command hierarchy.

One thing I would like to see progress in is that of a non IRC branch. Currently, our entire military is IRC based. With the new military module approaching, our high degree of mobility is fantastic. However, the army is a good tool for retention, and there will always be people who for whatever reason do not want to use IRC. Hopefully, this branch will be small and members will always be encouraged to use IRC. If the Army choose to, it could be used as an entry and training point for new recruits. After all, once people are comfortable with the forums I feel it is only a matter of time before they decide to try out IRC. Accommodating them before they make the move to IRC is something we have to aim to do.

Minister of War.

A shiny new position, similar to the MoD but with a more soviet feeling name, the minister of war will do a number of things; It will overlook the military as a whole and how it is run and suggest to the Prime Minister and Army Command any changes and suggestions that could improve the way the army is ran, a bit like those guys that show up at work and write reports on you (These reports won’t be on any individuals). The position will serve as an independent 'judge' should any issues arise between members of the military , and will sit in secret channels in order to relay orders to command staff. The MoWar will also draw up military and spending reports for the House of Commons.

The MoWar will also produce short reports on our military activity, and work with the MoHA and Army command to create recruitment incentives. It will also work with the MoHA’s Technology Department to investigate ideas which could assist the military in the work they do. Most importantly, the minister shall do the background number work and logistical for all the military companies. The break down and reassembly of these army resources must be carefully planned, and with the amount if companies the government owns it is truly a colossal task. They can work with Army Command to make sure we get an efficient division of labour so when V2 arrives, we can continue to efficiently produce supplies.

Hopefully delegating this task to the MoWar will allow Army Command to focus on the day to do running of the military and handling of orders and troops. The ministry shall work with Army Command and receive input from them in order to produce a plan which works. A member of the military shall be appointed the position, hopefully a long serving member who has ample experience, in order to ensure a good working relationship between government and Army Command.

Tanking.

This past month we have spent a considerable amount of cash on tanking and loans, this next month with a newly acquired Polish border and new modules lingering sometime in the future, it is time we began to save our cash and collect the money we are owed in order ensure we are not only ready to have some fun with Poland, but we are ready to as a country to tackle V2 head on.
I am not saying we won’t be doing any Tanking, but when we do fund tanking we have to make sure we are not the only ones, we have to make sure our cash is spent effectively and wins battles.

Sometimes, tanking is necessary. There will be times when tanking happens, and we don’t win. We can’t guarantee victory but we can be more careful with where our money goes. The cash we save can be used in other areas of the military, it can be used for other branches of government, it can be used for V2.
