Learn from my mistakes | Apprendre de mes erreurs & Essayer d' élargir l'audience

Hey everybody well Im sure if you havent heard of me before today.. You might hear it here soon. Well I am relatively new to the game, this is my first term ever in Congress and I am too excited.
Today in my excitement and blissfull ignorance I gave two incoming citizens citizenship, I was unaware of The Political Defense Act at this time. I did some research on the citizens to see if there was any red flags. Both request seemed legitamite and I felt like citizenships were just being rejected because one guy had applied three different times both times before the applications expired they were not rejected.
Above in the newspaper description is the links to the ECanada forums. There is a lot of information in there and laws you must follow. One of these laws is The Political Defense Act. In this law it outlines how incoming citizens are screened and then selected for citizenship. This law is important because it ensures the integrity of our political system. I own up to my mistakes and I unknlowingly broke the law. I hope that maybe this can teach other ambitious newbiews to read first and not make the same mistake as me.
I apologize to you citizens of ECanada for my ignorance.

You're a good egg.
why is everyone endorsing this PTO-case?
:'(
Thank you for your help, Cannaguy, and I hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble into the future.
I'll try to make this worth your while : )
Ignorance off the law is not an excuse. Like in real life. Sorry for you. Hope you have to not pay to much. Do your time and come back
🙂 Consider them as refugees 🙂
Fall under the heading of 'Meh, shit happens.'. Big point is that you went to the trouble to check 'em out. That was the whole reason for the law in the first place, Congress wasn't doing their damn jobs and just let anyone in. Even worse some let in know problem people, sometimes for money! :gasp:
Anyhow, I don't look at the new guy as the problem. You are a member of SUFFER and were ran for Congress by them. It's the party president and his staff that failed. It is there responsibility to send people to Congress that know what's going on. You don't set a baby in the highway and walk off. You're supposed to teach them to look both ways before crossing the street and hold their hand until they are of an appropriate age.
I accept responsibility on the utter failure of SUFFER in this regard. Tut tut, damnation!
Stuff like this has been a problem as long as I can remember. Still the ultimate blame must come home to roost.
Couldn't agree more.
Well you have to learn sometime and somehow. At least this will hopefully make forums a little better known.

You were not in violation of the Political Defense Act, as there was no declaration of an immigration crisis at the time.
The first fellow you let in needed only one more vote from IC to be approved, or for one more day to pass before it was acceptable to have only 2 approvals.
The second fellow had only just come up for discussion, and had received only one IC vote.
The penalty for ignoring the Immigration Council the first time is a 24-hour ban. The second offense calls for the Council to determine your punishment, but it shouldn't be more than 7 days.
The law is the law, and it must apply to everyone. As you pointed out in the forums, ignorance is no excuse.
Being the sweetheart I am, I have pleaded for leniency in your case, as applying a full 7-day ban for "FNG" exuberance serves no real punitive purpose. The law must be applied, as the rules were broken, but banning a new person from the forums for a week only enforces further ignorance. This is why I suggest keeping with the "spirit" of the law - sit one vote out, but spend that time watching how things work.
Furthermore, much as I would like to, I cannot realistically hold McVicker responsible for this error, as he had not yet had time to impress upon his new members the importance of decorum. It happened within the first half of the first day of your first term as a Congressman, and he had not yet had time to make sure his team had absorbed all that information.
Believe me, I'd like to rake you both over the coals, but under the circumstances, I cannot.
I agree I should have went to work..
And thank you for pleading on my behalf I am grateful
cool story bruh
No harm done, but parties should probably make sure their congress members are informed of protocol. You can't really expect a first time congress member to be able to readily locate all the necessary information. Communication by party leadership is key to helping new players learn the ropes.
Congratulations on being elected to congress CannaGuy, I look forward to a productive term!
🙂
Normally that is the first thing I do, unfortunately he literally approved people just before i got our Caucus thread started. Ultimately though I do believe the fault is mine and not his.
Having an automatic 24h ban when you accepted the citizen with good faith, and that the only arm you did was not following the proper procedure hidden in a forum post, is a stupiddly writting law. : P
You are not to blame.
No sweat, all is forgiven... It could've happened to anyone.
And thank you everyone else for considering this issue in such a mature and understanding way.
Man I need 4 more comments to finish mission
Here is one.
You are a penis.
Meh its something
You learned, that's what's important. Cheers!

Well, good of you to publicly acknowledge your mistake here, but I don't personally think it was necessary. You broke none of the laws according to the game mechanics, it was not a malicious act, and you're working to help eCanada. In my eyes you have nothing to apologize for.
