December '12 MoLA - Second Week Report
Department for Education
Law Proposals
Here is the list of Laws which Congress have voted on in the last week.
Declare War - Several Nations - ACCEPTED.
This law was proposed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Frerk and is an extremely sensitive proposal. I will leave the details up to the MoFA and MoD to release, I will just say that a detailed war plan was presented to congress and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive.
Well done to UKRP who had 100% voter turnout for this vote. 4 out of 5 Parties had average (62.5
😵or better turnout, although overall this is still around 10% lower turnout than for in game votes.
Non Aggression Pact - Ireland - ACCEPTED.
This law was proposed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Frerk, relations with Ireland have been improving ever since they saved us from our permanent wipe quite a while ago now. We have gone from hated allies of convenience to good neighbours who have become good friends.
Mutual Protection Pact - Hungary - ACCEPTED.
This law was proposed by Rajk Laszlo, President of Hungary. They are an old ally and a former top ranked country with many big tanks who will be contributing a lot of damage to the war.
Mutual Protection Pact - Spain - ACCEPTED.
This law was proposed by KueRVo, President of Spain. We will be working very closely with Spain in the war and they are one of the up and coming countries in the game right now with many newbies for us to please!
Natural Enemy - Canada - REJECTED.
This law was proposed by Kamoris KSC to disrupt our cooperation and war planning with Canada. He is just trolling us here.
He had already been removed from all Congress Discussions and this was his second out of two proposals for the month so this should be the last we see of him unless any parties try to rehabilitate him.
Mutual Protection Pact - Poland - ACCEPTED.
This law was proposed by Aniaa, President of Poland. Poland are just a beast of a country and are the max resource home of many eUK players - this one is kind of necessary to get the best from our own players. Not to mention the Polish tanks
🙂
Natural Enemy - Portugal - ACCEPTED.
This law was proposed by Congressman Jimbojoy as part of our war strategy.

Congress Communication
This month we are trailing a new in game communication system, using group PMs and articles to discuss laws and issues.
This week we have had a great discussion on Foreign Affairs but there will be no logs for this one until the war is over as strategy was discussed, I hope you can appreciate that we don't want the other side reading what we have planned
🙂
We had a trial of a new voting system where a google form and spread sheet is used (see the law proposals section for a link). There were one or two issues but they were fairly minor things so the next vote should go perfectly smoothly.
Several Congressmen ended their boycott this week so thank you to them; they will join Announcements but not Discussion - doing that on their forums.
Announcements are going fine but Discussion does have some ease of use issues. I realised that really the group PMs are only really needed for Sensitive Discussions so all other Discussion can be done in Articles or other places. Some work will be done on article linking and proposal submitting to facilitate this.
Future Updates
What is coming next?
1) I'm off work now so activity and reform will step up a notch.
2) Vice Minister Sven Goran has been tasked with gathering some data on Legislation, his findings are estimated to be out at the weekend along with some reform on Legislation.
3) I will be gathering data on this month’s Citizenship Acceptances and attempting to tackle the dread topic once more!
4) There will be some wiki and archiving work on what we are doing / have done / have discussed for transparency.
Thanks for reading!
- Sage Goku, Minister of Legislative Affairs
Comments
A topic on Community Relations was opened for Congress and a PM was sent to all MUs/PPs by BigAnt about a peace conference, but there have been few takers.
Please start some articles and think on some reforms you can make so that eUK can be a happier place!
good work Goku

Few Party Presidents have taken up the offer? Really? That's honestly disappointing.
Brilliant work Goku and thanks for the Information
Good work. Always happy to see articles explaining the activities of our politicians.
Voted already subbed!
Maybe I am being too negative.
2 parties pro, 2 not fussed, 2 sending the PM - so maybe that isn't so bad. Discussion is still very light though.
Sadly the last 'Peace Conference' has probably put people off the idea a little. But it shouldn't.
Also Good work o7
top work so far 🙂
Great work

Voted. Good luck and nice work so far!
I reckon you need to sort out legislation now, find some dastardly scheme with a TUP insider to abolish the lot.
Two questions.
1: Why use gdocs, why not use the tried and tested forum method, that is more secure, public and open? Because gdocs requires everyone giving out their emails, or a public link that, if shared, can cause votes to come out incorrectly.
2: Where can we, the public, see the results of these? We have a right to know what our congressmen are voting on, which is the reason primaries on the forums were always public.
Oh and considering you wanted to stop using the forums to make things more "in-game" - since when were gdocs in-game?
ANSWER PLEASE.
On and stop referring to the forums as "their forums" when talking about the congressmen who don't want to use your methods. They are the official national forums. They should be referred to as "the eUK forums".
I mean, I know you're biased and all that, so don't be.

1. We have no idea who runs/owns the Kumnaa forums, so those are not very secure. Nelsaidi and Kumnaa have both given their accounts away is my latest information.
Google is a massive multinational buisness with a large quality assurance department and millions of users per day testing their software. Congressmen can easily check that their vote is correct and I'll be doing some ingame verification for close votes via PMs.
2. Click on the first hyperlink in this article lol! Googledoc votes are just 2 clicks and your done, forums require signup and masking etc... it's a bigger barrier.
3. With 2/5 Top 5 Parties hardly using the forums and 3/5 Top 5 Parties not requiring Congressmen to sign up for them... they look alot like a Party Forum to me now.
It's Darkmantle, let the flame war commence!
I'm not flaming - you're the one that just started 'trouble' with that last comment. Cool story bro..
Ok so
1: Google being "secure" in the sense of web security is not what I meant. I mean people voting as someone else, which could happen. How can you ensure each and every vote is cast by the actual Congressman? Because if you're going to ask each one why not just do it by PM?
Plus I assume that the kumnaa/nel on the forums is still then since its a paid service, unlike the eRepublik. And if not there ARE other administrators. Just saying...
2: Honest mistake, assumed that they linked to the law proposals so had no desire to click or check them. Thank you.
3: Still it's not "their" forums, it is still the official national forums, the "eUK Forums" regardless of who uses them. They're not just for the congressmen who don't want to use your methods, that's what I'm saying. Promoting their use should be something the government is always doing, even if it's just referring to them as the "eUK Forums" - you're purposely making it sound like a tool for those who don't want to follow the "government way" or something. Bad Goku!
Those forums are nothing to do with the government, the owners and admninistrators purposely made it that way.
They are not responcing to requests for reform so what do we do?
It's been what, 3 weeks? Have you tried using the proper methods of posting within the suggestions forum? I mean, kumnaa is known for being inactive but there are other admins who would respond to the correct format of requests.
Whether or not it's to do with the "government" they are still the official eUK forums due to the simple fact that everyone thinks of and uses them as such.
