The Q10 (Ten Quick Questions) – “Furry Feet” Edition
with UIP PP and resident Halfling Visigoth King, Athanaric

Q1: For the novice player, what exactly is the UIP and what do they stand for?
A: Well I like to think that a good part of our description is built into the acronym. United Independents Party is really what we've been going for in building what we stand for ever since gamerfaqs. Unlike other political parties the UIP seeks to represent the supreme awesomeness that is the individual, and I don't mean that lightly. We draw in potentials from all sides of the political spectrum and use individual input to make come together. It's not so much about party doctrine as it is about the people who are in it. We enjoy having a good time, and yeah, we work hard and are pretty awesome too. The point behind UIP is to allow for community that they can thrive in and find somewhere politically to go. At the end, the community is at the heart of what we strive to accomplish.

Q2: What would you tell readers who are not in any political party (or those unsatisfied with their current party), why they should join the UIP?
A: We're freaking cool. I'm not gonna lie. That right there is a true statement. I party jumped when I was a younger member, and I've made legitimate friends in the UIP. As I said, it's a community. We started off as such, away from erep, and we've integrated that friendship now into the game. There's a HUGE opportunity for political advancement under my regime... I mean, under my "democratically elected term as president". And we have a solid base of players who work hard in the government, in the military, and abroad doing a lot of cool things for eUS. If I'm being to long winded, let me summarize: we're fun, we're dedicated, and we're friendly. That's what ePolitics is about.

Q3: We just had a “Congressional Freeze” in the eUS (which was agreed to by all top five PP’s). Can you explain why this was done and why you and the UIP felt it necessary?
A: I've explained this a few times, but the basic reasoning behind the congressional freeze was so that we could focus our efforts on PTOing Russia. Which is still in progress, so keep your citizenships there. All of the party leaders, and I mean all five of us, agreed that this freeze was necessary to allow eAmerica to focus on other efforts. I personally was against the freeze at the beginning. But, after a lot of negotiations and changes to the plan. I was willing to accept. And it was a good idea. There is no moral reason we shouldn't play this game to win, and PTOing is a part of that, as much as that may seem "hypocritical" or "morally-wrong," it's a game. So, with support, the Top 5 parties kept the number of seats we had last term so that we could kick some serious Russian ass.

Q4: There is a raging debate going on regarding the current level of taxes (most notably the income tax rate). Where do you stand on this issue? Is the rent in fact (as Joe DaSmoe and that crazy NY gubernatorial dude claim), too damn high?
A: I'm undecided. Because, frankly, I don't know as much about the economy as do some other guys. But I'm learning, and asking, and figuring that out. Right now, from the poll I've been doing, to the talks I've had with various people, I think I can honestly say that we have no damn clue whether the rent is too high or not. What really needs to be done are experiments, such as the ones proposed by Jewitt, to once again figure out where our economy stands. So far as I have gathered, our tax system works on a scale with the revenue we gain from taxes being tenuously between gain and loss. The trick to it is to find the sweet spot in the amount we tax, which has been determined in the past to be from 20-28% I believe. I'm up for figuring out where the new sweet spot is, and I would ask other people more in depth questions about our economy as, I said, I'm no expert. But right now, we have a lot of great government programs such as Arm America going on, and that needs government money. The good those do for retention and the like far outweighs any extra pocket change we can provide people who may play one day and be dead the next. But as I said, we need to experiment to find how that's done first.

Q5: With a plethora of POTUS candidates seemingly running this month, who do you think would make the best POTUS and why?
A: It could be really anyone's game at this point. I personally think that CRoy could pull it off. He's smart, dedicated, and very strong. He's been a recent powerhouse. But he doesn't just stop there. He went the extra mile and picked Blank Keating as his running mate. That's a powerful move, because Blank is so sexy smart. They have a strong platform, probably the strongest in comparison to the issues of traitorship surrounding GLaDOS and chickensguys lack of support outside his party. However strong I think CRoy is, if Frost and PigInZen are for real they will have a lot of difficulty overcoming that. Still, I think CRoy has a pretty good shot even though he doesn't fully have Feds and USWP support. He's charismatic, and really great. As my business partner and good friend, I can see him going a long way even if he isn't elected POTUS this time around.

Q6: Who is your personal eHero and why?
A: That's tough. I have a few: Emerick, Gaius Julius, and PigInZen (we're even friends now! Dreams do come true!) are just few of them. I've also always respected Josh Frost and Jewitt and am getting know them better. But the one guy I think I respect and look up to above all others would probably have to be Ligtreb. The man is humble beyond all reason for the amount of stuff he's done, and that, in a game where there's a lot of brash people you don't know, is truly a heroic quality. He's probably my lead inspiration in the entire game. I've honestly never met a more genuine guy than him

Q7: Quick word association… GLaDOS, Blank Keating, Athanaric.
A: British, Demigod, Sexyshoelessgodofwar

Q8: Would you rather wrestle a bear, a shark or a lion and why?
A: All three. Same time. Because anything less wouldn't be fun.

Q9: Who is the little dude on your avatar?
A: Belkar Bitterleaf. Halfling Ranger/Barbarian from The Order of the Stick webcomic. He likes killing things. So do I. He's sarcastic. So do I. He's short. I'm not. Seemed like a perfect fit, really. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do so.

Q10: And finally, if you could punch any eCitizen square in the face, who would it be and why?
A: Pizza the Hut. Do I really need to provide a reason for that?

Bonus Question: Favorite wall? Hadrian’s Wall, the Wailing Wall, the Great Wall or the Berlin Wall?
A: That's a tough one. Probably not the Berlin Wall because it fell. Not a really good wall, now was it? I feel that the Wailing Wall would be liked by Justin… because he's Jewish. I'll have to go with Hadrian's Wall. Romans are cool.
