President Evil - Ireland, Why Do You Do This To Yourselves?

Today’s song - Sabaton - Back In Control.

A few days ago, I met with Ireland’s CP about ending the TW. We both had other matters our countries needed to attend to, so we decided it was for the best.

Yesterday, we both proposed No Natural Enemy laws, which are the first step to ending a war. Our Congress accepted the proposal. Ireland’s didn’t.

There are two ways to end a war - by congressional vote, or by removing the opposing nation from the map, so when it became obvious that Ireland’s congress were rejecting the proposal, I decided - since I am a kind and patient man - that I would let them try to vote for No Natural Enemy again, instead of immediately pursuing the wiping-them-off-the-map option.

I made it clear to Ireland’s President, who then made it clear to his congress, that if they did not propose and accept another No Natural Enemy law, we would have no choice but to wipe them off the map.

Today, a member of Ireland’s congress proposed Spain as their natural enemy. This is what we in the political world call a “Maximum Retard” move. I have told them in the past, that whilst we love them, attacking Spain is not something we could tolerate, so we will remove them from the map if this law passes.

However, there is more than meets the eye here. When myself and my Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke with Ireland about how to resolve this, their attitude was one of “we cannot deal with the trolls in our congress, you guys do whatever to deal with it”. So if the law does not pass, we will have a decision to make. We either hope that Ireland can bring their own congress under control - which looks unlikely, seeing as their President has apparently given up - or we take it upon themselves to end their NE by wiping them. If Ireland cannot control their congress, we might have to do it for them.

I do not want to go to war with Ireland. We have enjoyed a year of peace with Ireland. A year. That’s generations in eRepublik terms where governments change every month and players join and leave every day, but Ireland’s current congress are on the verge of throwing that away by refusing to act reasonably. Ireland are bringing this upon themselves, and whilst I don’t want to see an end of our long standing friendship, it saddens me that they apparently do not feel the same.

Depending on what happens now, this Training War might just escalate into a very real war.
