Obliterate, conocido como Arrlo en IRC, es el actual MoFA de croacia. Jugador de amplia experiencia, aquí responde algunas preguntas.

- ¿Cómo encontraste el juego? ¿porqué juegas eR ?.

Alguien publicó un enlace de referido en una página de grupo de Facebook durante el tiempo en que eUSA estaba bajo ataque de PEACE en el verano de 2009. Parecía divertido, así es que me inscribí y estuve a 2 click por un tiempo antes de unirme al foro de eUK en donde me fui involucrando más.

- Tu eres inglés RL. En el pasado fuiste ciudadano de eUK, sin embargo ahora eres un devoto soldado croata. ¿Por qué elegiste a Croacia?.

Dejé eUK en desacuerdo con su política exterior. Sentí que no se comportaban con dignidad esos días y yo no quería ser parte de eso. Yo quería unirme a un país con más lealtad y mejores principios, y eso me trajo a Croacia.

- En cuanto a los problemas, las alianzas, las reglas de Plato , ¿Qué piensas sobre la situación actual del juego?.

Las alianzas ya no significan nada, la única alianza real que queda es Asteria y por el momento es absolutamente incapaz de defender a tres de sus miembros. Nada realmente mantiene junto a ese grupo de países, se puede ver que no es un bloque único y no queda una alianza enemiga, estilo 1984, para unirse en contra.

- Fuiste CP croata en septiembre de 2013. ¿Qué recuerdas de tu mandato?

Recuerdo que era un momento difícil, cuando TWO gobernaba el mundo. Estábamos en la India, y el presidente indio decidió romper promesas y firmar MPP con los enemigos de Croacia en un intento de echarnos . Es cierto que los gobiernos croatas habían cometido errores antes de eso, pero yo insistía en tratar de mejorar la situación y dar a la India algunas concesiones para que no se sintieran tan impotentes, así que fue doblemente decepcionante cuando firmaron MPP con enemigos. Además, se realizó el primer torneo EPIC WAR, lo que le dio una ventaja abrumadora a TWO debido a su superioridad en número de soldados, lo que significaba que tan pronto una batalla se convertía en épica llegaba una gran cantidad de enemigos, y las rondas llegan a 60 % a favor del enemigo.

- Tu wiki dice "tiene una especial aversión por Polonia". ¿Por qué no te gusta Polonia?

Yo no escribo ni apruebo las ediciones a mi wiki, por lo que no expresan mi opinión, pero hace muchos años cuando yo estaba en eUK, Polonia era nuestro enemigo y yo estaba cerca de los franceses y (en menor medida) de comunidades alemanas que sufrieron la ocupación polaca. Como Francia y Alemania eran los mejores aliados de eUK , solía pelear mucho por ellos, lo que significaba luchar contra Polonia. Esto se convirtió en un problema para eUK porque decidieron cambiar Francia y Alemania por Polonia después que Phoenix se vino abajo, de la misma manera en que lo hicieron Serbia y Hungría.

- Tenías puestos en el HQ de TERRA en abril de 2012. Chile fue expulsado de TERRA en marzo de 2012, ¿qué recuerdas de eso y de la alianza?

Yo estuve en el HQ de TERRA unas cuantas veces como representante eUK, pero no recuerdo los detalles sobre esa disputa muy bien. Todo lo que recuerdo es que Argentina se quejó mucho sobre el comportamiento de Chile, y que finalmente Chile fue expulsado. Cuando escuchas los dos lados de la historia en detalle suena como Argentina quería a alguien para luchar, y por desgracia, eligieron a Chile.

- Eres el actual MoFA croata y has tenido varios puestos en gobiernos. En términos de diplomacia, algún logro del que estés orgulloso que puedas compartir con nosotros?

No se me ocurre ningún logro del que pueda decir estoy más orgulloso. Ayudé a guiar la política croata durante muchos meses, probablemente por años. Nunca estoy seguro si soy la persona adecuada para el trabajo y no puedo explicar exactamente por qué. Podría ser humildad o porque pienso a menudo que el juego es sobremanipulado por personas que están más dispuestos a abandonar los principios para alcanzar el poder para su país o para ellos mismos.

- Después de TWO surgieron tres alianzas: Sirius, Asteria y Aurora . ¿Cuál es tu opinión de sus resultados?, se logró tener un daño más equilibrado y/o mejores guerras?.

Fue un momento más complejo de lo que estábamos acostumbrados, sin que un lado lograse nunca mantener la delantera por mucho tiempo. Asteria tuvo el peor comienzo y Aurora el mejor, mientras que Sirius parecía funcionar bien en los primeros días. Finalmente Asteria encontró una manera de ganarnos constantemente al concentrar toda la fuerza sobre un país, derrotandolos hasta eliminar todo su ánimo de lucha lo que les obligó a firmar NAP humillantes para luego pasar a otro objetivo.

- En tu opinión, ¿porque murió Sirius?

Pienso que algunas personas en Polonia estuvieron desde el principio contra Sirius, lo cual es su derecho, pero ellos se inclinaron a usar algunos trucos sucios para minar la alianza y tratar de romperla. No ayudó que algunas personas en los demás países de Sirius hayan actuado de manera poco profesional a veces, dejándose provocar. El hecho es que, si un representante de un país se comporta de una manera negativa, a veces todo el país tiene que rendir cuentas por ello, y una vez que se empieza a decir "Croacia hizo esto" o "Polonia dijo que" con base en el comportamiento de un representante deliberadamente ofensivo, le dan a esa gente la propaganda que necesitan para empezar las rivalidades internas en la alianza.

- En tu opinión , ¿por qué murió Aurora?

Creo que una vez Sirius comenzó a desmoronarse, era más difícil para Aurora para tener éxito. Más que las otras dos alianzas, Aurora se basó en un país a conducir, y si ese país no tenía un gobierno súper activo, sufría toda la alianza.

- Polonia trató de cambiar de alianza el mes pasado y fracasó, como resultado, fue borrada. Este mes , trataron de ser aceptados de nuevo bajo un plan que revelaste en tu periódico. ¿Qué piensas acerca de la actitud polaca?, en tu opinión, ¿Por qué insisten en Polonia en ser parte de Asteria ?.

El problema de hablar de "Polonia " (o de hecho sobre la mayoría de los países ) es que no es una sola entidad con total unidad de propósito. Realmente no puedo decir que Polonia quiera unirse a Asteria, sino que un grupo de personas influyentes en Polonia lo quiere. Este no fue el primer intento, hubo intentos hace unos meses, pero el primero en ser publicitado fue en noviembre cuando se filtró un pantallazo infame. Eso debió ser una advertencia para aquellas personas en Polonia sobre qué tipo de jugadores de pacotilla estaban tratando, pero pareció no importarles. Estaban dispuestos a insultar y a abandonar a todos los aliados que tenían, desde Croacia a Turquía, incluso a Chile y España. A esa política se oponen firmemente muchas personas en ePolonia, se puede ver su reacción en los medios, pero el congreso polaco parece aprobarla.

El mes siguiente, el Congreso croata (y posiblemente también Turquía) declinaron el MPP polaco debido a ese mensaje filtrado, y poco después de que Polonia fue aniquilada vimos una extenso NAP con Asteria y Leto. Había demasiada confusión e incoherencia en la política del gobierno polaco, claramente el mismo grupo pro Asteria en Polonia vio que era el primer paso para unirse a Asteria. Ahora parece que las promesas y garantías de las personas en Asteria con quienes los partidarios Asteria polacos negociaban no significan nada a nivel macro, ya que el MPP con Grecia se firmó pero no hubo evidencia de apoyo a Polonia desde el poder militar griego. Del mismo modo, Argentina rechazó el MPP y el alboroto en los medios serbios demostró que era demasiado el sentimiento negativo hacia Polonia para un MPP Serbia-Polonia en este momento.

- ¿Crees que el NAP Croacia-Serbia era un problema importante para Polonia? Ese NAP aseguró una posición cómoda para Croacia, mientras Polonia era empujada a la guerra contra Serbia es una acusación común. ¿ Qué opinas al respecto?

El NAP Croacia -Serbia, en términos de juego, es similar al NAP que Chile tuvo con Argentina en la medida en que cada parte es libre de atacar en cualquier lugar en el mundo . Fuimos aliados cercanos en el pasado, y al igual que todas las historias ésta tiene dos lados, y yo sólo podemos dar la historia desde nuestra mirada. Era similar a la situación actual en Polonia, pues había un grupo de jugadores argentinos que comenzó a dirigir a Argentina a la unión con TWO. Las negociaciones estaban en marcha incluso antes de Argentina lanzara el ataque aéreo en el Reino Unido, teníamos esa información. Se creó desconfianza en los diplomáticos croatas, lo que llevó a Croacia a firmar un MPP con Brasil poco después que EDEN se disolvió, aunque el acercamiento a Chile fue rechazado porque estaban ocupando Argentina en ese momento. En retrospectiva, el MPP con Brasil fue prematuro, porque facilitó una excusa para la campaña pro TWO en Argentina, dejando caer a Croacia y firmando MPP con Serbia. Es irónico ahora, ya que la coartada para que Argentina dejase a Croacia fue el odio a Brasil, el que ahora es un aliado argentino. 🙂

Esos días fueron confusos para los antiguos jugadores EDEN como yo, y durante mucho tiempo no vi a países ex EDEN firmar MPP con TWO luego del fin de nuestra amistad. No fue hasta que me mostraron una captura de pantalla de los tanques de argentinos luchando contra nosotros pegando por Eslovenia que comencé a luchar contra la Argentina, y el resto, como dicen, es historia.

- En el pasado Croacia tenía sus originales borradas y hoy es un imperio. ¿Qué sabes sobre el proceso para firmar el NAP actual con Serbia? ¿Qué jugadores estuvieron involucrados ? ¿Hubo mucha resistencia al tratado?

Para muchos jugadores en Croacia y Serbia la guerra constante se había vuelto aburrida. Incluso antes de que se crearan Sirius y Asteria, hubo conversaciones entre algunos jugadores croatas y serbios sobre un cierto nivel de cooperación para luchar contra Polonia juntos, cuando se hizo evidente que Polonia era infeliz en la alianza con Serbia. Eso quedó en nada, Croacia se unió a Polonia en una nueva alianza y la vieja guerra se abrió de nuevo, alcanzando mayor nivel de intensidad cuando Argentina utilizó su bono de ataque x2 para sacar a Croacia desde la India. Volvió entonces la misma situación antigua de Croacia y Serbia drenándose para luchar entre sí, y con el tiempo la gente comenzó a hablar abiertamente en los medios de comunicación llamando al fin de los combates. Así es que los gobiernos comenzaron a explorar esa opción, y cuando la guerra estaba cerrada por un ataque húngaro (Croacia estaba en guerra con Serbia y Hungría en este momento) , acordamos no NE apenas recuperamos frontera. Creo que los resultados de la paz hablan por sí mismos .

- Algunos ejemplos: AS Argentina - México, la guerra entre Chile y Serbia en América del Sur, Grecia bajo el ataque de Aurora, la guerra entre Polonia y Serbia, AS argentino a Eslovaquia y ataque a Polonia: por favor, elije las campaña más emocionante de 2014 ¿Por qué tu elección ?.

Es difícil elegir la más emocionante, la que más me gusta. Todas las campañas donde mis amigos ganaron fueron épicas, y las que mis enemigos ganaron fue por un BUG 😃

- Eres un Myrmidon. ¿Qué opina tu UM sobre la actual política griega?

Myrmidons es un fantástico grupo de personas que están más unido que la mayoría de las UM, reunidos en TeamSpeak y hablando (y hablando y hablando y hablando ) sobre cualquier cosa y de todo. Hay una gran cantidad de jugadores experimentados allí, así que es realmente genial poder ir allá para recibir consejos relacionados con el juego, y son un montón de personajes divertidos, así que es una alegría pasarlo bien con eventos RL también. Yo no soy un experto en política griega así que no puedo hacer ningún comentario valioso sobre eso.

- El fin de semana pasado fue muy emocionante para los e-chilenos . ¿Tienes algo que comentarles?

Si te refieres a la cadena de victorias masivas entonces sí: sorprendieron a sus enemigos y me sorprendieron con una estrategia decidida y precisa. Las victorias decisivas sobre Asteria patearon el tablero cambiaron la guerra a favor de Chile.

Una parte de mí no puede dejar de preguntarse si el apoyo a Rumania, Grecia y Argentina fue retenido para hacer ver que la entrada de Polonia a Asteria es una necesidad. Pero tal vez jugando tanto tiempo me he convertido en un poco en teórico de la conspiración .

- Tu perfil dice que amas a Bogi , ¿por qué tantos jugadores aman a Bogi ?

Bogi es una gran persona y un jugador talentoso, pero la gente le encanta porque es infaliblemente amable con las personas que lo merecen.

- ¿Algo más que decir?

Sí, gracias por preguntar mi opinión, amigo.

Todo lo que trajo penurias a Croacia y a Chile juntos cuando fuimos abandonados y traicionados por nuestros amigos, cuando nos ocuparon y subyugaron: todo eso valió la pena para tener ahora aliados tan comprometidos y valientes .

- How did you find this game? and Why you play eR?.

Someone posted a referral link on a Facebook group page, during the time when eUSA was under full attack from PEACE in the Summer of 2009. It sounded like fun so I signed up and 2 clicked for a while before joining the eUK forum and getting more involved.

- You are english RL. In past u were UK citizen, however now you are a devoted croatian soldier ingame. ¿Why you chose to Croatia?.

I left eUK in disagreement with their foreign policy. I didn’t feel like they behaved with dignity in those days and I didn’t want to be any part of it. I wanted to join a country with more loyalty and better principles, and that brought me to Croatia.

- In terms of problems, alliances, Plato rules, What do you think about the current situation ingame?.

Alliances don’t mean anything any more, since the only real alliance left is Asteria and at the moment it is utterly incapable of defending 3 of its members. Nothing really holds that group of countries together any more, you can see that it’s not a unified bloc, and there’s no 1984 style enemy alliance left to unite against.

- You were croatian CP in sep 2013. ¿What do you remember about your term?

I remember that it was a difficult time, when TWO ruled the world. We were in India, and the Indian president decided to break promises and sign MPPs with Croatia’s enemies in an attempt to kick us out. It’s true that Croatian governments had made mistakes before this, but I insisted on trying to improve the situation and give India some concessions so they didn’t feel so helpless, so it was doubly disappointing when the enemy MPPs were signed. On top of this, the first Epic Warfare tournament took place, which gave an overwhelming advantage to TWO because of their superiority in number of soldiers, which meant that as soon as a battle became epic, enemy fighters just poured into the battlefield, and minibattles which were roughly 50/50 became 60% walls for the enemy in moments.

- Your wiki says "He held a special dislike for Poland". Why do you dislike Poland?

I don’t write or approve edits to my wiki so it doesn’t express my opinion, but many years ago while I was in the eUK, Poland was our enemy, and I was close to the French and (to a lesser extent) German communities which suffered from Polish occupation. Since France and Germany were at the time the best allies for eUK, I used to fight a lot for them, which meant fighting against Poland. This became a problem for the eUK because they decided they wanted to swap France and Germany for Poland in the days after Phoenix fell apart, the same way that Serbia and Hungary did. I disliked all ONE and the philosophy behind it, it’s just that Poland occupied the countries I was closest to.

- You had positions on TERRA HQ in april 2012. Chile was expelled from Terra on March 2012, what do you remember about that issue and that alliance?

I was in Terra HQ quite a few times as an eUK representative, but I don’t remember the details about this dispute too well. All I remember is that Argentina complained a lot about the behaviour of Chile, and eventually Chile was kicked out. When you hear both sides of the story in better detail it sounds like Argentina wanted someone to fight, and unfortunately Chile was the one they chose.

- You are the current Croat MoFA and you had several positions on former gov. In terms of diplomacy, any achieve to be proud that u could share with us?

I can’t think of any achievement I would say I was proudest of. I helped to guide Croatian policy for many months, probably running into years now. I am never sure though if I am the right person for the job, and I can’t explain exactly why. It could be humility or it could be that I think I am often outmanoeuvred in the game by people who are more willing to abandon principles to achieve power for their country or themselves.

- After TWO, three main alliances emerge😛 Sirius, Asteria and Aurora. What's your opinion of its results?, a damage more balanced and/or better wars were achieved?.

It was a more complex time than we were accustomed to, with no “side” ever keeping the upper hand for very long. Asteria had the worst start and Aurora the best, while Sirius seemed to work fine in the early days. Eventually Asteria found a way to beat us consistently, by concentrating all force on one country, defeating them until their resolve was gone, forcing humiliating NAPs on them and moving on to another target.

- In your opinion, why Sirius died?

I think that some people in Poland were against Sirius from the start, which is their right, but they stooped to some dirty tricks to undermine the alliance and try to break it apart. It didn’t help that some people in the other Sirius countries acted in unprofessional ways sometimes, allowing themselves to be provoked. The fact is, if a representative of a country behaves in a negative way, sometimes the whole country is held accountable for it, and once you start saying “Croatia did this” or “Poland said that” based on the behaviour of a deliberately offensive representative, you give these people the propaganda they need to start internal rivalries in the alliance.

- In your opinion, why Aurora died?

I think once Sirius began to fall apart, it was harder for Aurora to be successful. More than the other two alliances, Aurora relied on one country to lead it, and if that country didn’t have a super active government, the whole alliance suffered.

- Poland tried to switch of alliance last month and it failed, as a result, was erased. This month, they tried to be accepted again under a plan that you revealed on your newspaper. ¿What do you think about the polish attitude?, in your opinion, ¿Why Poland insist to be part of Asteria?.

The trouble in talking about “Poland” (or indeed about most countries) is that it is not a single entity with total unity of purpose. I can’t really say that Poland wants to join Asteria, but a group of influential people in Poland definitely did. This wasn’t the first attempt, there were attempts dating back some months now, but the first one to be publicized was in November where the infamous screenshot was leaked. This should have been a warning to those people in Poland about what kind of trashy players they were dealing with, but they seemed not to care. They were willing to insult and abandon every ally they had, from Croatia to Turkey, even Chile and Spain. This policy is strongly opposed by many people in ePoland, you can see their reaction to it in the media, but the Polish congress seems to approve.

The following month the Croatian congress (and possibly Turkish too) declined Polish MPP based on this leaked message, and soon after Poland was wiped we saw an extensive NAP with Asteria and LETO. There was too much confusion and inconsistency in the policy of the Polish government, as clearly the same pro Asterian group in Poland saw this is the first step to joining Asteria. It seems now that the promises and assurances of individuals in Asteria with whom the Polish Asteria supporters were negotiating don’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things, since the MPP with Greece was signed but there was no evidence of support for Poland from the Greek military. Similarly Argentina rejected the MPP, and uproar in Serbian media showed that there was perhaps too much negative feeling to Poland for a Serbia-Poland MPP at this time.

- Do you think NAP Croatia-Serbia was an important issue for Poland? NAP secured a comfortably position for Croatia and Poland was pushed to the war against Serbia is an allegation from some poles. ¿What do you think about it?

Croatia-Serbia NAP in terms of game play is similar to the NAP Chile had with Argentina, in as much as each party is free to strike anywhere in the world. We are both formidable opponents, and constant warring had held both countries back in the past. But of all countries I think that Poland with Sirius and Aurora behind it had more than enough strength to fight against any combination of countries. Look at Chile for example, you defeated Greece, Romania and Argentina before reinforcements from Croatia, Cyprus and UK had even arrived to help.

- Croatia and Argentina were allies in past. ¿What happened?

We were close allies in the past, and like every story this one has two sides, and I can only give the story from eyes. It was somewhat similar to the situation now in Poland, and there was a group of Argentine players who began to steer Argentina towards joining TWO. Negotiations were underway even before Argentina launched an airstrike on the UK, and this information was passed to the rest of us. It created a level of distrust in Croatian diplomats, which led to Croatia signing an MPP with Brazil soon after EDEN was dissolved, although approaching Chile was rejected because you were occupying Argentina at the time. In retrospect the MPP with Brazil was premature, because it gave Argentina’s pro TWO camp an excuse to drop Croatia and sign MPP with Serbia. Ironic now, since the alibi for Argentina to leave Croatia was the hatred for Brazil, now an Argentine ally. 🙂

Those days were a confusing time for old EDEN players like me, and for a long time I did not see ex EDEN countries signing MPPs with TWO as the end of our friendship. It wasn’t until I was shown a screenshot of Argentine tanks fighting against us for Slovenia that I began to hit against Argentina, and the rest, as they say, is history.

- In past, Croatia had its core deleted, today is an empire. What do you know about the process to sign the current a NAP with Serbia ¿What players were involved?¿There was too much resistence to the treaty?

For many players in Croatia and Serbia, the constant war had become very stale. Even before Sirius and Asteria were constructed, there were talks between some Croatian and Serbian players about a certain level of cooperation to fight Poland together when it became clear that Poland was unhappy in the alliance with Serbia. This came to nothing, Croatia joined Poland in a new alliance and the old war opened again, reaching a higher level of intensity when Argentina used its x2 attack bonus to kick Croatia from India. It became the same old situation of Croatia and Serbia draining themselves to fight each other, and eventually people began to speak openly in the media about calling an end to the fighting. So governments began to explore this option, and when the war was closed by a Hungarian attack (Croatia was at war with both Serbia and Hungary at this time), we agreed not to NE each other as soon as we had a border again, as we would have done in the past. I think the results of the peace that followed speak for themselves.

- Some examples: AS Argentina-Mexico, Chile-Serbia war in South America, Greece under attack from Aurora, Poland-Serbia war, Argentinian AS to Slovakia and attack to Polan😛 please, choose the most exciting campaing from 2014, ¿Why ur choice?.

It’s difficult to choose one that was most exciting, I enjoy most of them. All the campaigns where my friends won were epic, and when my enemies won a campaign it was because of a bug. 😃

- You are a Myrmidon. What do you think your MU about the current Greece policy?

Myrmidons is a fantastic group of people who are closer than most MUs, meeting on TeamSpeak and talking (and talking and talking and talking) about anything and everything. There’s a lot of experienced players there so it’s really great to be able to go there for advice related to the game, and they’re a lot of fun characters so it’s a joy to just have a laugh about RL events too. I’m not an expert on eGreek policy so I can’t make any valuable comment on it.

- Last weekend was exciting for echilean people. ¿Anything to say to the chileans?

If you’re referring to your string of massive victories then yes: you stunned your enemies and you amazed even me with the determined and precise strategy and the decisive wins over “Asteria” that followed, which flipped the tables and changed the war in favour of Chile.

Part of me can’t help but wonder whether support for Romania, Greece and Argentina was withheld in order to make the entry of Poland to Asteria seem like a necessity. But maybe playing so long has turned me into a bit of a conspiracy theorist.

- Your profile says you love Bogi, why so many people love Bogi?

Bogi is a great person and a talented player, but people love him because he’s unfailingly kind to people who deserve it.

- Anything else to say?

Yep, thanks for asking for my opinion on things my friend.

And whatever hardships that brought Croatia and Chile together when we were abandoned and betrayed by our friends, when we were occupied, outdamaged, outgunned, overpowere😛 it was all worth it to have such committed and courageous allies.
