[Know Your Candidates] January 2014

Day 2,237, 12:08 Published in Ireland Ireland by Ian E CoIeman

January 4, 2014

On the 5th of every month the nations of the New World begin the process of electing a new leader for their country. This is by far the most important election of the month, and the outcome of this day will determine our fate for the month to come.

Let your vote be an exercise of individual choice, a reflection of your loyalty to eIreland, and a result of the careful application of independent thought.

In an attempt to better inform the voting population, I'd like to provide some essential information about this month’s elections.

Campaign Articles
It's a good idea to read the campaign articles of each candidate before voting. Campaign articles most often detail the intentions and goals of a candidate, as well as their planned cabinet.

Note: The Country President's Cabinet refers to a team of people who will be aiding the Country President in his/her duties. Important examples are the Minister(s) of Defence, Minister(s) of Foreign Affairs, and Minister(s) of Finance. For examples of past cabinets, look here. For a better idea of how Irish government is set up, look here.

I offered each candidate the opportunity to respond to some questions about their candidacy that I thought would shed some light on these elections. All answers to those questions provided to me by the candidates can be found below.
Why are you choosing to run this month and what do you hope to accomplish in these elections?

Kaptain Kidd: Those are sort of seperate issues so I'll answer them seperately. I tend to pick January just because of my work schedule, January is cold and since I work in construction I basically get shutdown and have a lot of free time on my hands. I personally believe the time you invest into being CP equates directly to the results you achieve, so having the time is important. As for what I hope to accomplish it's to bring Ireland a little bit of fun. I don't have any sort of problem with Bhane personally the last few months but it has been rather dull. Raising interest levels keeps people involved and unity is easier when eveyone has a common goal, regardless of what that goal is.

Cry of the Banshee: after a first candidacy,i passed time to grow my party and now for the first month of 2014, i feel ready to propose my services.

Bhane: I still have unfinished business.

How would you summarize your plan for governing the nation in January?

Kaptain Kidd: To do things never before attempted, but in a safe manner. I've tossed out the ideas of building a new alliance, of going to war with Canada. Not everyone will be thrilled with those notions, but it allows us to try some new things, to have a little fun without consequences.

Cry of the Banshee: i can't say all now but i will employ my time to propose some news, and the AS can be one of them.

Bhane: I will continue to facilitate the decision making process of the people and the dail, and implement the policies based on the will of the people.

What considerations have you made for cabinet positions? How will you be using your cabinet if you are elected?

Kaptain Kidd: Certain positions I chose because of who the person was, I know their connections and how to use those advantages. Other positions I let be open to newer players or anyone that was willing to step up. I believe someone who actually wants to volunteer is better than somehow who's just been there 50 million times, it's a stronger work ethic to actually want to do it. It's also my experience that nothing is unfixable, so taking some chances are OK. Those that remember my last term in Canada, over half of my cabinet was unknowns before they started, you have to give those chances.

Cry of the Banshee: i will create a council (5 advisers) instead of a prime minister.
so my cabinet will be very important during my term. no official decision will be made without my council.

Bhane: As always, my goal is to generate the most informed decisions, because those are the most reliable kind. A diverse team leads to diverse points of view, leads to productive discourse, leads to good choices.

December’s government passed a land rental agreement with the United States, Cork and Wexford in exchange for some 130,000cc monthly revenue. What are your intentions for the future of this agreement?

Kaptain Kidd: I'll respect the people's will and remain neutral, so far all my plans are built around non interference with this.

Cry of the Banshee: the agreement is here, in place, and we already lost part of our shield for this, so it will be an error to stop it.
BUT, i will talk with USA CP to change one term : if the agreement is over due to a successfull rw, he will be over for good during MY TERM.

Bhane: I will implement the choice made by the people of eIreland.

Our Dáil has seen fit to allocate the revenue from land rentals to a new training ground upgrade program. What are your intentions toward this program and the future use of any such revenues?

Kaptain Kidd: Again non interference, I think the program has some benefits and drawbacks. But I'll allow the will of the people.

Cry of the Banshee: what i read about the TG program is not exactly like i wish, we will discuss about few changes. and i want to expand the help for citizen to other matters, especially in the marketplace.

Bhane: The first rent payment was allocated to the TG upgrade program by the dail. This term's dail will decide where to spend February's rent. They may add to the TG funding, or spend it on something new.

With the effective dissolution of Circle of Trust it is left for us to speculate what new forms the global alliance scene may take. TWO still stands on its feet, but changes to resistance wars have forced us all to re-evaluate global strategy. Given all of this, what goals will define Foreign Affairs progress in the coming month?

Kaptain Kidd: I'd like to find a group of countries that have similiar goals to us and build something we respect.

Cry of the Banshee: you're right, this is an important goal for the future and we need to be part of a possible new strong alliance. we will try to work on that.

Bhane: Success is the meeting of preparation, and opportunity. FA will probably be focused on trying to keep up with any geopolitical shifts. We have been prepared, and we need to stay that way. When the opportunity finally occurs, we will be in a very good position.

The question of how to set up Dáil and how to determine its roll in decision making has really stood out as an issue in recent months – and one where there are really no foundations for a matter of fact answer. How do you plan to structure and facilitate Dáil discussions and what roll will they play in our government under your tenure in January?

Kaptain Kidd: Congress will get their say it's how the game is built, they have to agree to get any vote done. I've been in congress and I don't always agree will everything either, but there are some levels of respect. I've survived 6 impeachment attempts, people can disagree with me, but I've never been impeached. Whether I'm loved or hated I always present them the options and let them decide.

Cry of the Banshee: a little strange taht none wants to use the forum just for the dail.
i want to find another system (the dail separate in two like i saw in my congressterm wasn't good) i have ideas, we'll see.

Bhane: The Dail determines the ongoing policies that drive the nation. If anyone wants changes to those policies, I will do what I always do. I will facilitate the discussion and debate, so the dail can make an informed decision.

Are there any special goals or projects that you plan on undertaking this month?

Kaptain Kidd: Attempting to build an alliance, lofty but you never know if you don't try.

Cry of the Banshee: yes, i want that the citizen feel more important for the country, i will work on this but this can make more than one month..

Bhane: I think I am making actual progress on my robbery ticket. I don't think I can get all of the 3million+ cc, but I think I can get a portion. If I could just get a half million or a million, it would be a great victory for eIreland.

This is a packed election going into January with at least three candidates in the running. How do you predict this election will unfold, and how confident are you in your campaign?

Kaptain Kidd: Patience is a virtue.

Cry of the Banshee: Brian Boru just retires from the race and united irish men are supporting captain kidd (a player i don't know well to be honest)
so, this is very indecisive..the most important for me is to know that i did the best possible the day of the election. after..the people will chose, not me.

Bhane: The ILP runs a pretty strict ship to keep it's member voting in line. CoB has adopted the banner of being "opposition" which will win the people that fall for Vik's endless barrage of lies about me. I am not very confident I can win. When I lose, Vik will inevitably count every vote against me as validation for his cyberbully tactics. I have to at least try and take a stand against that.

What will this last term be remembered for?

Kaptain Kidd: Did anything actually happen?

Cry of the Banshee: the rental agreement.

Bhane: The rental agreement, and all the drama therein.

What will your term be remembered for?

Kaptain Kidd: The Gordie Howe hat trick, I'll figure out the details later. 😛

Cry of the Banshee: the air strike 😉
i hope : the will to propose something new, even if all doesn't work (maybe)

Bhane: I hope the next term is remembered for long overdue justice for the robbery, and a lot of money back in our bank.

There you have it eIreland. The choice between these eIrish candidates is yours. Choose well.
