[KK4CP] I'm Bringing My Own Table

Day 2,223, 09:07 Published in Ireland Pakistan by Frodo Tea Baggins

Time to put up a serious article which isn't my strong point but let's give it a go.

I'm also bringing the cheese....

It may seem early to start on this but with the holiday season upon us it's only natural a lot of people including myself will be having much down time. With that in mind I figured it's easier to bring my intentions forward earlier on and work around the seasonal schedule than try to cram it out in a breif period. In January I will be looking at taking a run for the CP spot. With that in mind I wish to give a brief overview of the current situation, my viewpoints and future plans I would like to undertake.

The current situation is we are locked into a couple of agreements including a region rental and a NAP. To be honest I voted against these dealings. While there is an attractive side that can produce benefits, I looked at things from a game mechanics side and realized the many pitfalls and shortcomings to this type of deal. In essence the cost can outweigh the profits in the long run. Regardless of my viewpoint this deal has been ratified and locked in for the next month. I will not backpeddle on what has been done by the majority of voters but rather deal with the situation as it is. I may get to eventually say 'I told you so', however I will honour the majority decision.

With that said that leaves the position of the next month quite open to do very little. A person could easily sit back and do nothing with all the major dealings done, a practically free ride. The opposite would be to do alot to kill the current deal, while exciting it would leave us in an equally poor position on the global market. A third option, the one I wish to address is to use this downtime, so to speak, to shape our future.

Ireland is a small country, this is a given. The major players are not knocking down our doors to shape the new world and create the next super power. The opposite is Ireland for it's size is extremely powerful per capita. I propose we use our current freedom to go to the tables of the world to work on creating something, a new alliance our way rather than sitting on the outside looking in all the time. I don't expect the largest nations in the world to be jumping at the chance to be involved, I mean we have to be realistic in our goals on this, however CoT wasn't born from a group of super powers either. We can also look at an alliance like ACT, with the difference being we have no big brother to currently follow under. Is it possible? I wouldn't get your hopes up, it's a complicated process, however what's the harm in trying?

I toss these ideas out to you to muse over. We have the time on our hands with no possible downside beyond wasting our time. Beats sitting around with your feet up and wasting the free time. And remember....
