Seriously, no one should have to buy votes - if you have good articles then it should be justified on its own merits.

Keep trying man, you can still be eCanada's media mogul that earned it.

Your articles are getting 8+ votes in less than 10 minutes though, that's a real voice in the media.

I've liked your articles, which is why I subscribed. I don't subscribe to articles I don't like.... unless they pay me. Since there is no limit to the # of publications one can subscribe to, why wouldn't we subscribe to one that pays us? I think you are doing pretty good and will eventually get to 1000. You're at 730 or so now so just keep up the good work and the good articles. When u finally hit 1000 it'll be far sweeter than the idiot giving his money away.

I really like Joey, and I can't blame him for buying Media Mogul.

However, I wish Media Mogul was about literary excellence. The truth is that it's not. That's why we need to support things like the Shameless Plug and the OG Literary Award. The fact that the Shameless Plug falls out of the top 5 articles EVERY WEEK is what really disturbs me.

The truth is, Media Mogul is the hardest medal to get IF you are a) not hungarian and b) not willing to buy it. For anybody who really wants the medal, all you have to do is buy 30 gold and it's yours.

Don't put too much weight on it Banach. It doesn't chance your status as a premiere journalist in Canada.

I gotta say, when I first joined eCanada, your articles helped me tremendously. I was able to understand lots of eCanada's historical events, alliances, etc. with ease thanks to your paper. Having a medal on your profile doesn't indicate whether or not your newspaper is worth reading, and it IS worth reading - to newbies and oldbies alike.

I can't imagine how this must feel. But stay the path Banach, because you will become a media mogul one day, and you will have the stack of articles to prove it.

(this isn't even counting the philanthropic work you are doing to support the media component of eRepublik, which in and of itself deserves an award)

Exactly... Banach, your earning your subscribers. At least you know the ones that are subscribed have done so because they like your writing and abilities. Your doing the right thing. You work to earn what you have, and not bribe them. It take longer, but at least it earns you respect, and when you do earn the medal... It will make it all more worth it.

they should make it based on votes, not subscribes. Maybe like 2500 votes. That way it would reward people who write good articles a lot.

ARown - Joey and that GOLD scam article got more than 1000 votes each. There are still too many ways to cheat your way in, but I do agree that cumulative counting of article votes would at least reward dedicated writers.
