Yesterday Verdun, tomorrow just another day

Day 664, 03:26 Published in Serbia Hungary by montaigne

Dear all,

Yesterday late night while the battle was still rolling, on the Hungarian chatroom one player tol😛 this is Verdun. Exactly the same thing crossed my mind as well. The biggest onslaught in the world history.

The Battle of Verdun was one of the critical battles during World War I on the Western Front. It was fought between the German and French armies, from 21 February to 18 December 1916, on hilly terrain north of the city of Verdun-sur-Meuse in north-eastern France. The Battle of Verdun ended indecisively. However the city of Verdun, which was the strategic target of this 1916 offensive, never fell into German hands but remained instead under French control until the end of the war. The Battle of Verdun resulted in more than a quarter of a million battlefield deaths and at least half a million wounded. Verdun was the longest battle and one of the most devastating in World War I and more generally in human history. A total of about 40 million artillery shells were exchanged by both sides during the battle.
The Battle of Verdun popularised the words of General Robert Nivelle's admonition "Ils ne passeront pas" ("They shall not pass") addressed to his troops on 23 June 1916, after the last French positions on the way to Fort Souville had been submerged. At the beginning of the Battle of Verdun, on 16 April 1916, General Philippe Pétain had also issued a stirring order of the day, but it ended with the reassuring: "Courage ! On les aura" ("Courage! We shall get them").

And the outcome:
Casualties and losses on French side 378,000; of whom 163,000 died
Casualties and losses on German side 330,000; of whom 143,000 died

We could come up with theories and ideas what we should have done differently yesterday, out of which some things for sure:

1. Synchonise battles
2. Connect European battles to major American battles
3. Start major battles 15 minute before daychange
4. Inform better the citizens (Hungary performed a little bit better than Serbia this time)
5. Make sure, that major battles are fought within 1 week after E / F has burned enough Gold in a battle, which is major one for them and unsignificant for us. (because USA and Spanish players are massivly buying Gold, which is allowed once in a week)

What else could be done?

Well, many PEACE tacticians and strategists told several times, that fate of Europe is decided in USA. That we have to squeeze USA in fights of 8 MPP-s against 13 MPPS (a bit more balanced than fighting alone against 13 MPP-s).
Hungarian tactical mistake was, that USA was not pushed enough into the corner. Hungary has very few chances to fight, being almost permanently blocked by Canada. So Hungary had few minutes only to decide whether to go for NW Croatia or stay at home, maybe for another week. They decided to fight.

How to continue?

First I have to congratulate Serbian military leaders not to really jump deep into further onslaught in Slavonia.

Equally important I kindly ask everybody to work with high wellness and not to ruin your employers!

As IRL Serbia is not so rich that people could afford (and have willingness) to buy wellness packages, we should fight with what we have, but do it efficiently! Efficiency means fighting effieciently and run the country's economy efficiently!

1. Make sure you buy Serbian products (so that your taxes stays in the country)
2. Nowadays we are experiencing times, when more and more people are thinking about consuming products with higher quality. Serbia has one of the lowest prices on Q1 food and Q1 weapons, but we should be able to produce higher quality products as well on affordible price! This means we need to invest. For investments we need money. So we cannot waist money on every battle.
3. In Serbia very few people are using gifts. It is not something comming from the devil. From the age of 10 days I am using Q5 House, Q5 food and 10 gifts every day (excepting for the time when I was TO-ing Croatia). This combination enabled me to fight 6,5 times day instead of 4,5 times a day. I never spent any Gold on Wellness Packs.
4. I have also seen that in Serbia many people have Q1-Q2 houses. That is not really efficient. Try to get a Q5 House! I know it is expensive. I recomment that in a military unit 3-4 guys are buying 1 Q5 house and they rotate it between themsleves. The one, who has the Q5 house will have to have the wellness preferably at 51 WP on the daychange. This way (combined with Q5 food) you may can get 11 Wellness points on the daychange!
5. Serbia is facing one issue which has been faced by almost every other country. For long time our salaries were something between outrageous and ridiculous. Fortunatelly Serbia has relatively low taxes, so we can consider the taxation environment as friendly, but it is a fear, that many of our players will emmigrate to Hungary, Indonesia or Brasil for better salaries. There are some cures against that:
a. A baby-boom will create a replacement for those who will leave abroad
b. Increase salaries for skills above 5 (as this is incentive also for those on skill level 4)
c. Invite workers from other (preferably Peace) countries! Serbia is attractive, since it offers fights every day in USA, and life if quite ok and funny here. I like it. We can even create a Serbian „Legion Etranger” and offer them Q1 weapons.

And do not forget, every day is anew beginng, every day we are getting stronger and stronger!
