Yes I finally created a newspaper LOL
TheCanadianPunk
And for my first article i must write the following that has absolutely nothing to do with EREPUBLIK o7 & it will be straight to the point short and sweet....
First off I must say FREE MARC EMERY he was convicted under a Bush administration!!
The U.S.A is now under a Bong Toking Obama President clearly he must see that 5 years is a way to long sentence for simply selling pot seeds to Americans...

Unfortunately, Obama isn't particularly left wing and he doesn't really care about whether pot distributors get busted. The Department of Justice has gone after medicinal marijuana even in states where it's legal and he doesn't seem to care.

Every person in jail for pot should be freed.
Amen brother!

Not reported for irrelevance. (;
if I was Prime Minister I would not let some southern asshole imprison my citizen. Especially if its the KGB, ugh* cough cough * i mean CIA. I have no respect for idiot harper.
Out with Harper, in with Mulcair.
Ugh, Mulcair? The lack of good alternatives is what's going to make the next election much close than it should be. If any party put up a halfway decent candidate that most Canadians could be at least not embarrassed to have as a Prime Minister the Conservatives would get trounced.
On the other hand, Harper's complete suckitude is why it took him so many elections to get a majority. If the Conservatives had had a good candidate Paul Martin wouldn't have "won" his election.
I'm not holding my breath that we'll have a decent Prime Ministerial candidate this decade.
Trudeau seems promising..
[removed]
Not really. He won because of who his father was, which is something I didn't think Canadians would abide by. Since when did we believe in political family dynasties? Ok, apparently with Martin and Leblanc and McGuinty. Just another example of how far Canadian politics has come (although I've studied my history and I don't exactly view it with rose-tinted glasses, other than perhaps the 1960s).
Trudeau has charisma, which might be enough, though it's not a quality I desire in a Prime Minister. Still, I'll give him credit for building on his charm, good hair and family name and building an efficient political machine and career around it. But ideas? Haven't heard anything at all, let alone anything new. Decisions? Haven't seen him make any ones good enough to stand out yet.
Still, my early money is on the Liberals taking the next elections. Enough Canadians will have had enough of Harper by then to vote the Liberals back in. I honestly don't see enough people being won over by Mulcair's NDP in the time left nor do I even think there are enough voters willing to leapfrog from the Conservatives to the NDP.
That'll certainly improve the situation but that's a very low bar to jump over. Canada severely lacks political leaders and vision. Fortunately, we don't really have too much need for either nowadays.
The NDP will probably fade to their normal 3rd place status in the next election. Between Trudeau running for the Liberals and their balances act with all their Quebec MPs I don't see then holding on. Plus they only got where they did due to Layton who though I didn't care for his politics was certainly a likeable guy.
Trudeau though depresses me. As Chochi mentioned the whole family dynasty thing is pathetic and sad.
Harper isn't flashy but in the grand scheme of things Canada has done pretty well the last 10 years relative to other countries.
And really what are the other parties proposing to do differently?
Well said, virtualzero. I wouldn't call Harper's government great but despite all the doom and gloom it's not been horrible either. It's generally just been, meh. Then again I do have high expectations for my politicians and leaders (though I'm beginning to hold them less and less in high esteem and I can't think why I should, even if we had good ones - it's just politics). I'm not sure I've ever lived through a truly good government, yet (I've only been around for 5 PMs, two of which were very brief appearances). Is it so much to ask for a candidate I want to vote for?
in with Mulcair you say, Trudeau seems promising you say, now you need to say May is a good choice
I actually find the Greens very refreshing. It's been a good two decades since we've had a new political party rise on the scene with complete policy ideas. And some of it, wow, it just makes so much sense. Almost enough sense for me to vote for them ... except for the rest of their platform which is just incompatible with reality.
It's actually a similar reason as to why I've never voted NDP. Boy did Jack have charisma but I'm not going to risk accidentally voting in another Bob Rae or, much worse, Svend Robinson (who is my personal personification of what I wrote above about the Greens).
Also, as an aside, I have personally and professionally dealt with actual Green politicians here in Europe where they are established and legitimate political parties and they are, nearly always, crazier than the Eurosceptic nutjobs I've also encountered. If the Canadian ones are anywhere near the same level of crazy (I'm pretty sure it'll take a generation to get there) then I'm almost happy they'll never elect more than 2 MPs at a time.
What were we talking about again? Oh, yeah! Way to waste 2 gold, Punk!
LMFAO I CANT STAND HARPER
But at the same time there isn't much to choose from, never usual is all you can do is try to pick the best evil!
Canada needs to seriously look at legalization and the tax benefits it would gain from it take a look at everyone's favorite place Amsterdam it's been legal for years and years it has not harmed there Country at all there are doing very well always have been....
🙁
: (
I agree up until you mention Amsterdam. There are a lot of Dutch who are not fond of the tourism generated by the lure of legalised pot and hookers. Personally I don't think I'd mind too much - as long as they inject money into the local economy - but at the same time I could also see myself getting pissed off at tourists in downtown Ottawa if they doubled and were coming out for the legalised pot and hookers (like Lays, I wouldn't stop at one).
Kuuush!

WTF you know Canada is dead when a simple article can be number 1
