Woman Drives over Raising Drawbridge

Day 2,511, 16:19 Published in Belgium Belgium by Lioncoeur

As I have already promised, I am publishing a completely new article about funny car accident that happened few days ago.

A 58-year-old Croatian woman drove her car over a raising drawbridge, in the sleepy town of Tisno, which connects the island of Murter with the Croatian mainland.

The moveable part of the bridge in Tisno, had risen eight feet in the air as the woman gunned her yellow Peugeot across.

'I was shouting and gesturing her to stop but it was no use,' said bridge warden Tome Mejic Sidic.
'She ignored me, went full throttle and flew across the bridge.
'I was convinced she'd overturn the car.'

Estimating the driver had sped at the bridge at around 80 Kilometers per Hour, the witness described how the impact of the landing had made all the car's airbags open instantaneously.

The driver and her passenger eventually came to a halt next to a cafe on the other side, where they declined amazed onlookers' offers to call an ambulance or the police, according to reports.

She made the jump, but her Peugeot was badly damaged. The woman told the local police that she was blinded by the sun and hadn’t seen the red light.

Another witness, who was working nearby, told local news portal Sibenik.in it sounded like a bomb had gone off.

Mr Sidic said a tractor had once tried to make the leap, and another car, but yesterday's attempt was the first to be successfully completed.
