Why you should vote for me on Sunday

Why should you vote for me on Sunday?

Well, there are many reasons why you should vote for me on Sunday.

First of all, there is my decidation and enthusiam - as anyone who uses either IRC or the Forum will tell you - I am a frequent presence there. I spend hours each day on both, to keep involved in our nation's grown.

Secondly, their is my experience. Although i only started back in May this year, i have already gained a lot of experience politially. If i get elected as Queensland senator, it will be the 5th time i have been senator (and the 4th time in Queensland).

During that time, i have voted upon nearly every bill that has gone through senate (yes, i have occasionally missed one, but that is rare).

I have always looked carefully at what the bill was proposing, and have voted according to what I believe to be the best for the country. My voting record is publicly available on the forum for anyone who wishes to dispute this.

As for what else i have done, here is a list:

I have served in cabinet, too. I started as the deputy Minister of Defence - working with Ministers of Defence Ranger Bob and Scotywest to ensure that the job got done.
I spent one and a half terms as Minister of Information, during which time, it was my privelege to inform eAustralia as to the going-on of both the cabinet and Senate. The only reason i was unable to complete the second term was that Melchizedek Smith decided that he would like me to be the Deputy Prime Minister, as scotywest (Stewstoyc) was at that stage, unable to continue playing this great game.

I am currently serving eAustralia as the Minister of Defence, and have as of late, been busy making sure the Military is run in a smooth, orderly manner.

As well as these, i have also served my country as one of the Sol Advisory Representatives, and i was the first ACUK Military Marshall.

But enough about the past. Im sure you're much more interested on where i stand on current issues. Well, i cant blame you. Here is just a few of them:

Hospitals:
It is my personal belief that in order for our country to grow, we require q5 hospitals in every state. Thats right - you heard me. EVERY state. True - my state now has a q5 hospital. It is my belief, however, that having good quality hospitals in every state increases a states population growth - both by encouraging RL citizens to move to that state, and by encouraging new players to keep playing the game, as they can then stay in their own home state and still enjoy the benefits of wargames.

Wargames:
I believe that these are necessary for our countries growth. They increase our country not only by increasing the military strength and levels of our citizens, but also boost our country's economy, too.

Alliances:
It is a fundamental belief of mine that eAustralia should remain neutral. We should NOT get involed in the Fortis/Eden and PEACE GC struggle for power. I believe this because it is my belief that a country should be free to make its own decisions, and not base their foreign policy on what the "alliance" says it should be.
However, this is my own personal belief, and I will not attempt to sway anyone otherwise - i also believe that it is everyone's democratic right to have their own beliefs.

Military:
A lot of media has lately been dedicated to the subject of the Military. I will be the first to admit, being Minister of Defence may seem like i am biased on this topic. That is an arguable point, however my opinions on this were the same as before i became minister of this department. It is my belief that if our country is to grow, it should increase its military power. Not so that we can take on eIndonesia by force (as i have seen it suggested in the past), but rather so that we can establish more of a say on the eWorld stage.

To achieve this, i believe we need to increase funding to our newer players. This is why i have fought to get funding for the Australian Army Reserves to recieve daily weapons in the recent budget. These players will "rank up" the quickest out of all our soldiers, giving much more value for money. (To this end, I would like to re-iterate what is said in the AAR forum: fulfill your "activity requirement" (as per the wording of the Military Structure and Logistics Act), which is to say - answer the roll call when your squad commander does one, and you will recieve your "reward" - which is Q1 (or "training weapons").

Although it is my belief that we should focus on the newer players, it is my personal belief that we need to not neglect the Dropbears and Koalas too. It is my own personal belief that a long term plan of our country should be to increase overall military expenditure, to keep in line with the "major powers" of Erepublik, so as to maintain their continued loyalty (Note: This could be seen as potentially biased, so i will NOT be pushing for this in the immediate future).

However, this is a long term goal of mine. I realise that at this stage - we probably CANNOT afford to do so. To this end, i have been working to find ways to reduce unnecessary spending in the Defence Department. I have already succeeded in saving a significant amount of money, and will continue to do so until the end of my term. To this end, i have been working closely with the apprentices to the Defence Department (or Interns, if you prefer that term) - Santic, Binda33, and Guy Baumber, to reduce expenditure. I am fully confident that hindsight will prove that this month, the Defence Department has achieved significant cost reductions to its allocated Budget amount.
