Why We Should Give Our All Today
Sambo223
Well this is a slightly different article to usual and I hope you understand this is simply a way to rally the eTroops and is not meant to offend or discriminate anyone.
SINCE THE FIRST COMMENT HAS ALREADY ARRIVED I'VE DECIDED TO YET AGAIN WRITE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO START A DEBATE AND JUST CLEARLY AN ARTICLE RESPECTING THE PAST AND INFORMING eUK CITIZENS WHERE TO FIGHT!!!!
As I'm sure many of you know 33 years ago the real life UK and Argentina were at war over a tiny South Atlantic island called the Falklands. Today (14th June) marks 33 years since the Argentinian surrender at Port Stanley. The 74 day war cost 907 lives and cemented UK control over the small island. Too this day the Argentineans still believe that they have a claim to the island and I hope that war never becomes an option for the two countries again.
In today's eRep the eArgentineans have yet again invaded eUK soil during the anniversary of the war without any prior warning and has still not yet replied too the eUK government leading us believe that this is another attempt at a 'baby boom' or maybe an attempt to reach eVenezuela (who are based in Northern Ireland at the moment). So with it being such a fitting time my message today is too fight hard to defend our virtual homeland and put up a good fight today. Let's make this a fun one and try stop the Argentineans today like we did 33 years ago. Let's start the fight back and reclaim our lands.
The current battle open is this one in the East Midlands and it's already got off to a bad start: http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield-new/64415
Keep updated by following the MoD throughout the fight here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-mod-day-2-762-fight-for-euk--2530905/1/20
See you on the Battlefield
I'd also just like to make an important point that with today being the anniversary of the end of the war I think it's important we honour the war dead on both sides. So let's show no hatred towards each other and take some time to remember.
RIP

Implanted population, In any case, Chagossians should have the same treatment, still.... Royal...... PREROGATIVE and I quote...
"In 2000, High Court judges ruled that Chagossians could return to 65 of the islands, but not to Diego Garcia.
In 2004, the government used the royal prerogative - exercised by ministers in the Queen's name - to effectively nullify the decision."

Lets not use this game for RL issues.
erm...you're the one that brought up the issue. I've written a respectful article remembering the war dead.
Did you not read the article?
Can you have some respect? Real people died over these petty arguments.
Right to self determination bro, the people that live there want to remain British. Sure, you can cry 'implanted population', but thats exactly what the entirety of Argentina is... shouldn't you all be going back to Spain?
Let's just gloss over the fact that the whole issue over the Falklands/Islas Malvinas was started because a junta was trying to remain in power by stirring up nationalism....
Or that said junta fell as a result of losing war...
You're welcome, I guess?
The war started because a De Facto gov of assassins and drunk people that, as you said, tried that to remain in power forcing two nations to engage in a war right out of the blue and that for sure, nobody wanted nor deserved.
It does not change our claim and the fact that UK should comply with several UN sanctions and start negotiations with ARG
RL politics aside, you acknowledge the reason for the start of the war while still using it as an excuse for a baby boom. Double standards much?
What excuse? I do remember, as many britons do, that our first invasion, 2 years ago was a huge success for ARG and UK.
Did you change your name then too or were you always using this as an attempt to stay relevant?
I was Malvinas back then, and I am now, and you keep on answering my comments because you feel the force of truth and need to discredit me because of my nickname. I wonder if... my nickname was I AM DIEGO GARCIA.... you will still talking to me in this terms.
Enjoy, relax, this is not RL, this is just a game. If you wish to discuss this matter any further, you can PM me.
I hope my english is good enough for you to understand that I have nothing against britons, this is just RL politics.
Que? You were the one who brought RL politics into this in the first place lol.
But your English is fine, but I don't know if "force is truth" is the words you meant considering I was honestly only arguing for the sake of arguing 😉. I'm actually American so it's honestly just more entertaining to see both sides get so fired up about it, just seems like Argentines get fired up more...but maybe that's just Latin passion.
Esta bien bro
For King and Country! o7

There should be no referral to RL in this game.
Was that a joke, if so I apologise for mistaking your funny for serious. The came is modelled after read life, politics, geography, world history, alliances borne though strife and out shared customs are all reflected to varying extents. eRep is a game, but we live our LIVES though shared experiences, as valid as reading a book or newspaper or talking with a friend or local on holiday, is the reflection we share though play. An environment where we can all safely come together and discuss ideas that others may be opposed to. So instead of volunteering to censor expression of the intelligent mind. join in and engage those minds.
The natives although wrongfully (to my mind) relocated, were compensated after the fact. Our own legal system shows a leaning to favour their rights, but was necessarily overturned due to the acknowledged further claim for development funding. We would in-effect having displaced a poor people with a lifestyle far removed from our own, would be returning them after 2 generations to a life totally at odds to their fore-bearers. Weighed against the hostile dictatorial stance and an open offer of self determination, it's not much wonder that even the current populace irrespective of nationality more readily accepts UK citizenship.
So what so we learn via eRep today? Having put your flag in the ground first, is one thing, defending that flag is another. Everything is fair/just when viewed from our own positions. Effective change requires minds, quick change requires guns, neither guarantees the other will follow.
that was a really long reply
To be fair, pretty sure the UK would be just as angry if say the Orkney Islands were owned by Argentina for no other reason than the surrounding oil fields.
Why? As in eRep, there's a weighted advantage to defending and maintaining sovereignty of regions close to our natural borders; It does not follow though that by convention a law of fairness that dictates who owns what land. If that were so, go back in time and look at geo-political map. Russia, China and many names that don't exist now had a far larger slice of the cake...pie...crust! The only reason the people of the Falklands have free determination is that we have better guns (don't fight someone who sold you last years equipment, they have this years). The cold hard is that we killed two for every soul sacrificed. If it had been the other way around, just as with any region though out the history of man, there would be no significant acknowledgement from the sands of time.
Or if the Orkneys belonged to Norway. Or the Channel Islands to France.
To be fair, Argentina's claims to the islands are based off of a 400+ claim by Spain...
400+ year*
