Why we need companies not resources.

Day 1,114, 23:10 Published in USA China by Alexander Hamilton

Greetings America, I’m no longer your President. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and I hope you did too. Hopefully some of the seeds planted late into my term will yet bear fruit, although I know the eWorld wants to keep America and Brazil apart. Our friendship will prevail, despite admin skullduggery in closing the supposedly bugged eUK attack on Shannon adding insult to injury they awarded the eUS the initiative, which meant we would auto attack the eUK and lose our Brazilian MPP for the second time.

Resources; the admins have instituted newish rules that offer a 5% production bonus for each additional resource out of a total of five that a country possesses in two industries; food and weapons. By controlling all five resources for food production bonuses a country can boost its food industry’s production by 25%, providing a significant advantage for its native companies. However I believe this change pales in comparison to the new mechanics governing the location and nationality of companies.

Companies can now be absorbed like political parties by a conquering country, when it has wiped its opponent from the map. Yes that is correct; countries that are wiped lose all of their native companies and must rebuild their industries from scratch. This is a devastating and equally intriguing change that adds a bit of depth to a game that was becoming more and more shallow. No longer do “lulz wars” exist, for any successful conquest of a neighboring country could prove to be an economic bonanza for the victor.

Ireland has recently suffered this fate, as you can see here they only have 6 companies operating in their entire country. While Ireland is a smaller country and the consequences of the UK annexing Ireland’s entire economy aren’t likely to be felt outside of Ireland, a larger country being wiped would certainly cause upheaval in the labor market of the conqueror. Once the regions are inevitably returned to the original owner, the native population will find no jobs in their homeland. Demand for currency is driven in large part by businesses that need currency to pay wages, depriving a country of businesses will cause the value of said currency to collapse. While in the victorious country there will be a shortage of labor, because of all the new companies added to the economy overnight.

The eUS has 4,673 companies, many are not operating. The eUK has 1,232 companies, many are not operating. Were the US to invade the UK seriously and wipe them from the map all of those 1,232 companies would become American. It would amount to a 20% increase in businesses overnight. While not all eUKers would like to operate their companies in America, some would. Wages would rise as these new entrants to the American economy seek to hire American workers to replace their old workforce as it returns to settle the new capital of the UK; Wales.

While it may be far from a sure thing that the eUS would be able to wipe the eUK, there is no guarantee that we would succeed in holding onto resource regions. Additionally companies unlike regions cannot be resistance warred away. I think while securing increased production would be an asset to American companies; the overall economy would benefit more from absorbing the UK’s entire economy in one fell swoop.

Will we do it? Hard to say, wouldn’t be easy. The trolling would be quite good though.
