Why this game is so great + the most important question

Dear readers

In this article I wanna tell you a story about this great girl that I’ve met and how it has changed my elife. First of all, the title isn’t sarcastic at all so if u expected some complaints about admins or their decisions, u might wanna stop reading and visit the forum ; )

We met for the first time many months ago, probably somewhere in erep, maybe on irc. I can’t say we’ve ever been friends – just 2 casual players in the huge community. We’ve had our differences, several arguments, some trolling. Our last meeting in Cracow made me realize none of this really matters. Some people blame me for all the things that changed last week. Me and her, not talking for months, suddenly became good friends. This article is kinda an explanation.

You know, there are like 100 thousand people playing this game. We fight everyday against each other in stupid wars, debate over pointless laws, discuss annoying game mechanics and eventually we keep forgetting what this game is really about.



I was lucky to attend several eRepublik meetings and I met lots of amazing people. People I had known before cause of their articles, military achievements, political careers. And even though I might had not liked some of them, they all turned out to be great people. One might think “this guy was trolling me in erep, there’s no way we’re gonna like each other”. He couldn’t be more wrong. The fact is that none of these matters. We keep forgetting that behind these eRepublik citizens there are real people who type “erepublik.com” everyday just to have some fun. Even the home page tells you that “eRepublik offers a real second life” and that’s what it’s supposed to be. Whatever happens in eR, happens only in eR. And RL is a whole new story.

Very often we hear people complaining about the game and talking about quitting. I’m not gonna say “don’t, the game is amazing” cause we all know it’s not. It is and it has always been all about the community. You don’t like the game? Go ahead, delete your account but don’t leave us. IRC and forums is what makes this game so great. And the opportunity to meet all these amazing people in RL is the best thing that could happen in your eLife.

Now, the most important part. Let’s hope she’s still reading ; )
