Why not Moldavia?

Day 400, 22:55 Published in USA Ireland by Kasius

If you take a look at the history of annexation in the world, it wouldn't take long to realize that a decent number of countries have lost their independence as a result of war. If you looked harder, it might take you even less time to realize that the aggressors have, sadly, quite often been members of Atlantis. That's what makes the current war so confusing for a lot of people. It's frankly a bit hypocritical.

Take, for example, the territorial expansion of Norway. They've invaded Russia and Finland. Luckily, Finland has gotten its independence. Russia has managed, through fierce war, to get back a couple of its regions.

Then take a look at Sweden, which has invaded and annexed Denmark and taken a good portion of Germany away.

Then take a look at Romania, a nation that has stolen the land and freedom of both Moldavia and Ukraine.

It's really not a pretty picture for Atlantis. It doesn't mean that we're a bunch of inconsiderate jerks, but it certainly doesn't leave us with room to talk about the freedom of the Swiss either.

So sometimes I wonder if Swiss independence is really our ultimate goal in this war in France. It seems a bit odd, considering the French and Italians performed their invasion over seven months ago. Our reaction is a bit late.

But regardless of what our actual intentions may be in Europe, I don't think that Swiss independence needs to be guaranteed through war, nor do I believe that Swiss independence should even be at the top of the list of things to work on. The French and Italians took half a country a piece, while Turkey has expanded its territory into two countries, Israel and Greece. That deserves just as much, if not more, focus.

And to start with, I do not believe that confrontation with PEACE is the best way to go about starting to liberate the crushed nations of the world. We should start by talking to our allies in Atlantis. The independence of Switzerland is no more important than the independence of Denmark or Moldavia or Ukraine, and just as the territorial integrity of those three countries has been violated, so has that of Germany and Russia. We could free a lot more of the world talking to our allies than we can hope to do fighting France and Italy.

So why not Moldavia? Why not Denmark? Why not Ukraine? Why not the rest of Russia? Or the rest of Germany?

Maybe we won't ever get a clear answer to these questions. And maybe these nations will never be made independent or have their full territorial integrity reestablished. But we can do more than hope. We can work. When the next Congress takes power, more than just shaking fists should take place. And the standards that we are trying to bring through war to France and Italy should be brought through diplomacy to Norway, Sweden, and Romania.

Have a great holiday season, everyone!
