Why I am voting for Cody Caine
Marmaduke IV
I'm sure by now, many if not most of you have already decided on your candidate of choice this election. Many have probably already voted and are only reading my article for some laughs. But this article is not my typical satire about a made up university or misadventures of a former eSA citizen. This is about the future of eSouth Africa and the future of its citizens.
For those of you who feel left out of the eSA inner circle, there is a place for you. For those who feel themselves unfairly judged, there is a place for you too. For those just looking for a more fun, open, active enviroment, there is a place for you too.
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."
I have thought long and hard the past week of how to best approach this article. There are many out there who think my goal is to do harm to the country, and those people like to attach people like me to those I endorse and use me and my history as a weapon. So instead of telling you why to vote for Cody Caine, I feel it best to tell you why you should vote for a change a pace and a new direction for eSA.
Since as early as 2009 I have seen the work of those labeled the "elitists" in this country. I have no doubt in my mind that they care about the country. They care so much that they would sacrifice the independence and dignity of its people and in doing so, destroy any hope of growth and self-reliance of the country. They love the country for what is was and what it is. Not what it can be.
A while ago, someone asked me on IRC if I even knew the definition of dignity. I pondered this and answered the question based on my experience and was promptly told my definition was not correct. But dignity is not the same to everyone, I realized. To me, having dignity means that you can hold your head high knowing that you gave it your all and that even when you fail, you still tried. This definition can be applied to many things, including our country itself. Did we really give it our all to stay free and independent? Is our vassal-state status really the best we can do? What honor is there in living in a state of servitude?
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Benjamin Franklin
The turning point is upon us. We must choose whether to sacrifice future growth and independence, giving up democracy in favor of living in seritude or take a step towards the revolution this country so desperately needs.
No one man can start a revolution, but he can inspire one.
'We the people.' 'We the people' tell the government what to do, it doesn't tell us. 'We the people' are the driver, the government is the car. And we decide where it should go, and by what route, and how fast. Almost all the world's constitutions are documents in which governments tell the people what their privileges are. Our Constitution is a document in which 'We the people' tell the government what it is allowed to do. 'We the people' are free. - Ronald Reagan
Be inspired, people. Open your eyes and see that there is an alternative to the Alternative. Be inspired. Our revolution begins today.

I have to say... Great article!
I hardly ever read your articles in the past, but I have to say, you got it right this time, especially your view on dignity.
This game is all about having fun, but lately, people do tend to get way too serious about everything eREP.
Read my reply to Greekpwner on the forum in The Cafe about the CP's
good story bro 😃 but is good article gets my vote
Funny how you opposed me back in 2009, but according to your own definition of dignity, that's exactly what my administration had, despite the fact that we lost our war against Indo and Brazil. You've changed a lot in 4 years.
"To me, having dignity means that you can hold your head high knowing that you gave it your all and that even when you fail, you still tried. A vassal state status was exactly what we fought against and we really did give our all to gain our freedom and independence even though we failed and were stabbed in the back. We saw no honor in living in servitude (see my old articles), which is why we went to war against all odds. Sounds like the epitome of dignity according to your perspective.
I rebelled because I was excluded. Look at Leon Reno. Same situation. You corner a wild animal and it's going to fight back.
Look, I came with Ajay to PTO the country. Realized he was a tool, broke off and took over the ANA and despite my best efforts to legitimize the party, I was still labeled a PTOer, treated like a second class citizen, exiled from the eSA community. The channers were just pawns I used to exact revenge at the expense of the elitists. I never hated eSA, just the way it was run at the time. And by the looks of it, it's still run the same way.
Did I handle that the right way? Probably not. I distracted the country from the real enemy, Brazil, which the elitists loved. They used the security threat to further lock down democracy. No more free elections, no more open in-game discussions. Everything would be controlled and moderated in the safety of forum bunkers.
Heck, if it wasn't for the PTO I might have joined DB in time. So why doesn't the DB do something about the situation? It seems like DB has become too quiet. What does DB really think about rental agreements and gold mines?
The DB core still hates Brazil and always will, but like every group of individuals, there are those who want to fight Brazil no matter what the cost (myself, Locutus, Ubermench, and until recently, Rexdeus, who left us because we weren't anti-Brazi enough) and those who would rather survive as we are and bide our time until Brazil is weak enough (or eSA is strong enough) to attack (Claudio, Rico, Mr. Wet, etc.). Then there is the other half that is sick of eR and eSA bs and have become two-clickers, left for other countries or have quit the game and just hang out on our forum because of friendship and because we don't censor words or people.
We started the DB precisely because we hated the situation with Brazil and wanted to continue the fight from wherever we were, whether it be abroad or in eSA itself. When so many of our members got into politics and became CPs, they saw how difficult it was to maintain this hardline attitude and keep the country free and united at the same time (which is why I got out of politics). Us hardliners became a minority and got a lot of crap from people who saw us as obstructionists who didn't want eSA to prosper and who would bring destruction on the country again, so we became two-clickers or moved on.
In my opinion, eR hasn't been as fun as it was when I was CP writing articles and gearing us up for war against Indo (Brazil only joined in later as opportunistic lackeys of Indo). People like you (at the time) and Ajay were annoying distractions, but at least we had popular support. Your statements and those by people who speak as you do now only justify what we tried to do in the past and give me hope that maybe eSA might grow some balls again. If the DB and DB-PF had an influx of anti-Brazil people to support hardline old school guys like me and Locutus (who are now still a minority), then maybe we can earn some respect and dignity for eSA like we did before with the BLF.
