Why I am voting for Cody Caine

I'm sure by now, many if not most of you have already decided on your candidate of choice this election. Many have probably already voted and are only reading my article for some laughs. But this article is not my typical satire about a made up university or misadventures of a former eSA citizen. This is about the future of eSouth Africa and the future of its citizens.

For those of you who feel left out of the eSA inner circle, there is a place for you. For those who feel themselves unfairly judged, there is a place for you too. For those just looking for a more fun, open, active enviroment, there is a place for you too.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

I have thought long and hard the past week of how to best approach this article. There are many out there who think my goal is to do harm to the country, and those people like to attach people like me to those I endorse and use me and my history as a weapon. So instead of telling you why to vote for Cody Caine, I feel it best to tell you why you should vote for a change a pace and a new direction for eSA.

Since as early as 2009 I have seen the work of those labeled the "elitists" in this country. I have no doubt in my mind that they care about the country. They care so much that they would sacrifice the independence and dignity of its people and in doing so, destroy any hope of growth and self-reliance of the country. They love the country for what is was and what it is. Not what it can be.

A while ago, someone asked me on IRC if I even knew the definition of dignity. I pondered this and answered the question based on my experience and was promptly told my definition was not correct. But dignity is not the same to everyone, I realized. To me, having dignity means that you can hold your head high knowing that you gave it your all and that even when you fail, you still tried. This definition can be applied to many things, including our country itself. Did we really give it our all to stay free and independent? Is our vassal-state status really the best we can do? What honor is there in living in a state of servitude?

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Benjamin Franklin

The turning point is upon us. We must choose whether to sacrifice future growth and independence, giving up democracy in favor of living in seritude or take a step towards the revolution this country so desperately needs.

No one man can start a revolution, but he can inspire one.

'We the people.' 'We the people' tell the government what to do, it doesn't tell us. 'We the people' are the driver, the government is the car. And we decide where it should go, and by what route, and how fast. Almost all the world's constitutions are documents in which governments tell the people what their privileges are. Our Constitution is a document in which 'We the people' tell the government what it is allowed to do. 'We the people' are free. - Ronald Reagan

Be inspired, people. Open your eyes and see that there is an alternative to the Alternative. Be inspired. Our revolution begins today.
