First off, I am thankful to all the support I have received in the last few days. It is friends like you hat really makes this possible.

But onto business!

We need to reform the eUSA tax code so that we are better able to take advantage of the changes coming to eRepublik. As everyone has seen, the Admins are working to change the Economic Module (GASP!) Because of this more than ever we need to be ready.

How you ask? Easy

Change the eUSA tax structure to a VAT heavy, income tax light, structure.

Why? Here's why:

Income tax hits only those that work in America. With the current upset in world prices, income is fluctuating wildly. Purchases are all over the place, and it is near impossible to make a profit. eAmerican workers are suffering from the huge loss in the income due to the high income tax.
Instead, we should look at the VAT. It will increase the purchasing power of both the average eAmerican while also extending the purchase power of the government. (I have the math here)
Most importantly, it allows us to tap into the foreign goods that are being sold on our shores without resorting to trade killing tariffs. Raising the VAT means that every time a company overseas sells a good, we get to tax THEIR income at the same rate we tax ours, instead of the current set up which give foreign companies a TAX BREAK!
Why would we want to give tax breaks to those overseas, but hurt our people at home?

We should take care of our own, let the eAmerican public have more in their pockets! By increasing the spending power of the Government and leveling the playing field with foreign companies, its a win win win all around!
