Editorial Note ~ Introductions & Greetings

Hey there USA. You may or may not know me but that doesn't really matter since you probably will by the end of this article. My name is Mahlak Dependus. I am a congressman of the UK and a loyal citizen. I have been playing eRepublik for just under 6 months. More importantly, I was around as ATLANTIS fell and relations between the UK and the US hit rock bottom. During this article, I hope to cover a few key points and by the end of it, I hope you will see that the UK aren't a bunch of backstabbers and that we can be friendly to one another.

This article was about 10x longer but I accidentally hit F5 while typing and lost the whole the thing. It's high time they sorted that out.

Why Can't We Be Friends - War ~ Background Music

Soon after the fall of ATLANTIS and the failed launch of Fortis, the relationship between the UK and the US became very strained. There was dissent on both sides and things were generally quite bad between our two nations. And with the launch of PEACE's North American campaign, the arguing and trolling became worse on both sides and the rift grew even bigger.

But it doesn't need to be this way. As the North American liberation grew to a close, both sides took a day to gift an enemy citizen. This was a huge show of maturity on everyones part. Looking at events like that, it just bemuses me why the UK and the US can't let bygones be bygones and be friendly to one another. Of course you guys feel betrayed and want some pay back. So do we. Hell, we'd love to go toe to toe with you guys. We're no Hungary but we'll give the strongest nation in the world a decent fight. We can do it civilly though. There is no need to troll one another's media and accuse each other of every evil under the sun.

So what do you say? Friends?

There are a number of excellent, high quality newspapers out there that offer comprehensive news bulletins, economic information or comedic relief. Below are a couple that I think are very worthy of your time and you should check them out and subscribe.

1. Through The Looking Glass ~ Written by Mainegreen, a US soldier. If you haven't been keeping up to date with his coverage of World War 3, then you have been sorely missing out. Check out his previous articles for a very in-depth look at the North American campaign.

2. The Travels Of Elfington ~ Written by AltmerVampire, the ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs for the UK. AV's paper combines his fair attitude with his solid writing ability. As Minister of Foreign Affairs he is well informed of world events and he translates that into informative articles in his newspaper. If you have the time, you should check out his series on World Alliances where he covered the 4 major alliances: PEACE, EDEN, Sol and AHA.

3. From The Shelf ~ Written by Bogdan_L. He regularly produces a report about the medals and achievements of Romania but during major or important battles he writes in-depth battle reports with Gold estimates and damage data. Well worth the read. Scroll through his past articles to find reports on past famous battles.

The next issue of Informed Voices will aim to cover the UK December Presidential Elections.

Until next time, thanks for reading. Please vote and subscribe. 🙂
