White House Press Room - Day 1515

Dateline: Friday, January 13, 2012 (Day 1515)
Location: White House Press Room

News from the White House: What's up in the Departments?
Press Corps Contributing Editor: Kooguy

Rainy Sunday; Vice President and Deputy Speaker of Congress:
This month's Congress has seen more than its fair share of controversy. We've seen several rogue proposals, including delay in the transfer of funds from our country accounts, an unauthorized Natural Enemy proposal, a New Citizen Fee proposal failing proper preliminary forum procedure along with multiple failures to adhere to IES rules & regulations. Violations of the basic guidelines established in the US Constitution & Code and Congressional law, the trust of the greater US community and a broken guarantee.

Pierce Vaughan (NCP) was censured due to his violation of an existing law forbidding Congressional forum access to any citizen who grants Pizza the Hut citizenship to the US. Records show Mr. Vaughan approved Pizza's citizenship request in August 2011. Violations also resulted the censure of Congressman nem01able (NCP). jkli5 (NCP) resigned and left both the NCP and the US shortly after Congressional elections - first using his citizenship approvals before resigning and citing "keeping his deal with Pizza" as the reason for his actions.

Despite the rocky start, I look forward to positive progress for the remainder of the term.
On a personal note, I'd like to wish Speaker Eli Crownover a very speedy recovery. Get Well Soon, Eli!
Editor's Note: The White House and all its staff join VP Rainy Sunday in wishing Speaker of the House Eli Crownover a speedy recovery.

Evry; Secretary of Defense:
The eUSA has been taking the fight to our enemies' doorstep. We're currently working on getting 100% resource bonuses to help our economy boom. Everyone in America needs to stay on their toes with their food and tanks ready because there will surely be some fun as well as tough fights ahead.

Vanek; NSC Director:
We are ballin'! Wiping Spain; trying to help Switzerland when we can; working with Croatia to remove Serbia from Europe, put them back in their cage.

Alexander_Auctoritas; Secretary of State:
As the US goes forward, we are working to improve our Executive pool and involve more people on multiple projects to improve our overall effectiveness. We are looking for people to get more involved in DoD, State, and the NSC. We also ask that every person brings 1-2 people each year to this game, to help boom a bit. I'll have my Society this year, only 2 to go.

As you can see there are plenty of opportunities to step up in the State Department. If you're looking for a nice start in government work, the State Department is a good choice.

Molly Emma; Bewbs4Newbs Director within the Department of Interior
The DoI has been incredibly successful recently. We have seen marked increase in use from new players in the Meals on Wheels program and both new and old are discovering and rediscovering the B4N program. B4N alone has almost doubled the number of people who visit each and every day! We have just completed a very successful donations drive that will supplement our Federal Budget allotment and allow us to service our citizens' needs well into the future!

As shown here the DoI is rapidly growing. Any donations to Rainy Sunday, Kodos or Molly Emma are greatly appreciated. You are helping the nation by contributing any amount.

YoungHOOD on the Mentor Program, within the Department of Interior
Newbs are being taught on a daily basis. If you wanna be a mentor, we do need help and will take anybody who wants to help.

Through the Mentoring program you can help a new player grow and progress. Help your country by talking to youngHOOD to get some newbies to mentor.

George Armstrong Custer; Department of Media's Press Corps Director:
We work hard to produce a steady flow of news from the White House by publishing the White House Press Room newspaper three or more times a week. Same with the Pony Express Daily. Both papers have undergone some cosmetic changes, with new graphics and standard formats. While daily article Vote and Comment counts are indicators of day-to-day readership, it's the steady growth of new subscriptions to both publications that shows our efforts are effective.

Jude Connors; eNPR Executive Producer, within the Department of Media:
NPR continues to set the standard on blogtalkradio programs, as the official voice of the US government. Lead by Executive Producer Jude Connors and News Director Artela, eNPR brings you the news and provides a direct line to the nation's Administration. We continue to stream live every Tuesday and Thursday at 19:00 eRep Time, and invite all Americans to call in.

Help Wante😛 Press Corps Staff
It's not an easy job. It's not a glamorous job. It's a commitment which pays off in the personal satisfaction of producing quality work while contributing to a team effort.
Standards for literacy are 8th grade reading level, same as most RL newspapers. If you don't know the difference between "there," "their" and "they're," or "it's" and "its" then don't bother applying.
Journalistic skills and experience are varied and flexible. This can be a place to learn more and get better at something you enjoy.
There are assignments and there are deadlines, there is quality control. Must be detail oriented. Every keystroke counts.
This is a professional work environment where "Quality is Job 1."

Express your interest in a position on the White Press Corps in a game mail to Press Corps Director G. A. Custer, and include links to your own newspaper.

eNPR Oval Office Radio airs live every Tuesday and Thursday night, at 19:00 eRep (10 Eastern, 7 Pacific).
Both Rainy Sunday and Animis called in to Thursday night's live show, informing and entertaining the listening audience with their intelligence and wit.
Topics covered were this week's firing of a top forum moderator, as well as that and another player's violation of RL privacy and the repercussions which arose from them, as well as the OMS controversy and how that's been handled by Congress.

If you missed last night's live radio show, you can listen at your leisure, at eNPR Oval Office Radio

Tune in live next Tuesday, and join the text chat at #eNPR (on the Rizon server), and call in!
