Last week, Lysander Spooner II was seen laying down huge damage on the wrong side of a mini battle in an unauthorized RW at Aquitaine. When confronted with his egregious offense, Spooner's explanation of having a philosophical purpose rather than simple medal hunting was found to be unacceptable.
Last night, eNPR Oval Office Radio hosted the first ever public trail of an accused traitor. The #eNPR gallery was packed as President Oblige presided along with co-judges Jude O'Connors and Civil Anarchy, with the single guest being the accused, Lysander Spooner II.
The official statement from The White House:
"In a kangaroo court of public opinion, Lysander Spooner II was found, by unanimous verdict by themob audience of eNPR to be Guilty of the High Crimes of eTreason and eTerrorism, and was sentenced to A Stern Talking To as was delivered by our beloved President Oblige.
As the trial ending gavel fell, pitchforks and punch were dispensed."
This falls considerably short of the originally intended predetermined verdict of Guilty As Hell and the sentence of being declared an Enemy of the State.
The reasons for this are many. Spooner presented his futile defense very intelligently and most of all respectfully. His logic, though flawed, is not one of anti-Americanism but of concern for true transparency in government policy and better communication to the American people. His actions were not intended to, and did not, cause great damage to the nation, but to call attention to his cause and its philosophy.
The primary reason, however, for the light sentence, is that this is a game. We have to make allowances for differences between players without branding and ostracizing them from the community for anything short of purposely causing serious damage to the community of players and our ability to play and have fun. Spooner's actions and philosophy are not those of an enemy within, but of a dissenting voice whose actions were wrong.

Repeating my "treasonous" actions to free Switzerland from Slovenia. http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/20226 Does the eUS give a crap, or are they more interested in keeping their French regions? Bulgarians, Serbians and Polish mercenaries have done more to free Switzerland in this campaign than our USAF and OMS supplied militias have.
