Dateline: Wednesday January 4, 2012 (Day 1506)
Location: White House Press Room
Time for a look at the Oblige Presidency, and to say it has been an interesting one is an understatement.
Oblige entered office after a media quiet Presidency. Some will go straight to that and say it is his biggest improvement to the Office over the previous President, but that would be the easy way out.
For starters, in terms of Military operations, when Oblige took office we as a country were still recovering from the joint invasion of Serbia and Poland. Now we have all of our original regions back and a few more to boot. We made serious advances in the European Theater, then turned our might against Serbia to keep them busy betraying their allies while combined Terra/EDEN forces pushed Poland into a corner.
When it comes to his Cabinet he has shown he is not afraid to make tough decisions, having made changes in key personnel to better serve America. President Oblige gave some younger members who had never served before in a Cabinet position the chance to do so, most of whom have proven to be valuable resources with great potential.
As you'll read below, President Oblige has actively engaged Congress since his first days in office. This is but one of the two chronic gaps in communications and general relations between Americans that President Oblige has taken steps to bridge. The other is, by Executive Order, inclusion of American fighting units beyond the Congressional funded USAF and OMS MUs in the standard contact links at the bottom of all US Government newspapers.
No one make the past go away and create perfect compatibility among all people, but President Oblige has taken unprecedented steps in that direction. Oblige is looking forward. Oblige is moving America forward.
Secretary of Defense Evry is a busy guy, very hard to nail down for an extensive live IRC chat style interview. The White House Press Corps assigned the nation's top Q&A-style interview man, our own Portcolumbus, to send Evry a short questionnaire.
WHPR: The new year is here, but we fight the same enemies. Will this finally be the year in which we stomp the powers of ONE into the dust?
Evry: We just wiped Poland, and us as well as our allies seem to be moving on to FYROM, Indo, and Serbia.
WHPR: What do you see as the biggest military challenge leading us into the new year and beyond?
Evry: Keeping organized, and growing the USAF community as well as promoting active membership in all American MUs.
WHPR: How do you feel the military as a whole is doing right now?
Evry: I'd give it an A-. Our damage output and military membership numbers are the highest ever. However, our meta-community is slightly lacking.
WHPR: Is there anything else you would like to say to the American people?
Evry: Keep on giving it your all! o7, America!
WHPR: Thank you, Secretary Evry!
We asked a few prominent citizens what they think of President Oblige.
Evry; Secretary of Defense, Congressman, Undersecretary of State, and Economic Committee Chairman:
"Oblige brings enthusiasm to a country much in need for his guidance and ideas. I've been impressed with his activity on the Congressional boards as well."
Leroy Combs; Congressman, Presidential Adviser and respected oldfag:
"Oblige has done a good job, and I like how he has communicated with Congress. His comments have been to the topic and constructive."
Eli Crownover, Congressman, Speaker of the House, Cabinet Liaison to Congress:
"It's been very refreshing having a President be so active on the Congressional Boards. In my experience, they usually check in once or twice just to poke around. Oblige actually adds his ideas, comments, and criticism (when necessary). It's helpful for the Executive Branch to work side by side with Congress, just to make sure we're all on the same page."
Rainy Sunday, Vice President, Congresswoman, Deputy Speaker of the House:
"In my experience, any time a President takes the time to actively participate in Congressional proceedings and keep members informed first-hand of the stances and activity of the Executive, it has not only increased Congress' confidence (particularly speaking of lesser-experienced but active members) in the President and his Administration but also increases the likelihood of those lesser-experienced members to pursue Administrative positions or other active roles later on. Oblige has done well in this arena."
GoalieBCSC; Former POTUS, Congressman and respected oldfag:
"I believe that Oblige has done a great job with communicating with Congress, even when deciding to troll the threads he is not fond of. The fact that he is expressing his opinions is better than many past Presidents"
Artela; Chief of Staff, eNPR News Director, Congesswoman, Military Advisor, Ultramarines Commanding Officer:
"The funding of the USAF (Army/SF/UM) and independent militias who also contribute damage in the cause of defending America and her Allies only helps our great nation remain strong. Oblige's and Congress' dedication to ensuring that our best military units continue to receive funding to fight can only be a good thing for eAmerica."
eNPR Oval Office Radio presented a fantastic POTUS Debate, live on the air, Tuesday night, and will present a post-election wrap-up Thursday at 19:00 eRep (10 Eastern, 7 Pacific).
Tune in, and join the text chat at #eNPR (on the Rizon server), and call in!
Between bongloads, eNPR Executive Producer Jude Connors gave this rundown of tonight's eNPR:
"Oblige smoked a joint with me, but didn't inhale... Gulden campaigned for #2... Pizza called a branch of the USAF 'al Queda' and promised to ally America with Serbia."
Then "America's Favorite Hippie" drifted off in search of his favorite munchies, King Cake.

This term of office has been more of a team effort than America has seen in a long time. I am honored to be a member of Team America. We've accomplished a lot this month but there's a lot more still to do. We have allies who still need our help abroad, and we have economic matters to tend to here at home.
Let's not miss a single step as we continue our progress, marching boldly into a better future for America.

It's been an interesting month to return to eRepublik. I must say it's been kind of refreshing to return to the game and country with... how should I put this... a feeling that there's competency in the government for once. I wouldn't call this month as a month without bumps along the way, but compared to other predecessors, the bumps were barely notable.
Voted from France. o7

Unity through Oblige!
I must say, he seems to have done well this month.

This is a great cabinet.
Prominent Citizens = Cabinet Members = People Who MUST say nice things = ???? = Oblige's Profit...

Oblige smoked a joint with me, but didn't inhale

I smoked a joint, and I inhaled that shyt!
UNITED States of America
UNITY through Oblige
OBLIGE o7
Using a government paper for basically a campaign article, then getting a bunch of your cabinet members to kiss your ass. Seems like a good use of the paper.
^ What he said. Also, don't forget...most the "media team" is posting articles supporting him too.
Oblige is a commie!
Using a government paper for basically a campaign article, then getting a bunch of your cabinet members to kiss your ass. Seems like a good use of the paper. x2
Can't wait for round two.

At least it's getting used now, Gnilraps.
careful Zoli...
My comment was rejected for not being 'PRO' enough
I'm sad..
not at the article.. at the fact Zoli's account has been so obviously sold 🙁
Dissapointed to say the least...such a lowdown move -.-
Here's some cheese to go with your whines.
This is a basic term in review article, put together by Custer with help from the WHPC staff.
Cry me a river - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DksSPZTZES0
For the parts that I wrote, I speak from what I see, which is the truth, so you'd be best to keep your negative comments to yourself, and remember this old saying "treat others how you want to be treated," thank you and have nice days.
lol at the claims of the cabinet kissing ass 😛
Newspapers loyalties matter?
@ Cody - my statement was made at the fact that you guys are shouting his personal article along with this one...
@ Joe - well depends on how you look at it, we do work for him so some might call it what they have, but plenty of people write supporting a candidate and I don't see all of them getting called things, I wrote my previous article before this, in a personal example I've worked for A2 in October and I didn't even vote for him. So the whole thing is a matter of perception.
got my vote

Also, VOTE DRAAK
Best of luck Oblige !
As I said in a comment:
"Imagine the major of your town self promoting his achievements on public transportation, for free, during re-election campaign.
It sound wrong to me, the same way as Oblige made a mistake promoting himself in the WHPR"
@ Cody - you are correct. Also you saying "... I speak from what I see, which is the truth, '' is based on your perception. Truth is subjective, and everyone's opinion of the same thing will be different.
Shouting his personal articles ALONG with this article in the same shout has NOTHING to do with you working for him. If you support him, fine do it. Just don't do it along with a government-based article that as Custer put it "...is a sort of progress report..." and ".... there is no direct campaigning."
I for one, feel that you are a stand-up guy...
@JD
I wrote a pro-Oblige article. Why? I think he's a great President. We don't kiss ass in here, I can promise you that. Oblige is the most qualified person, in my opinion, and my article was simply stating that.
@ kooguy - EXACTLY. You aren't promoting this one with your shout of your own article and saying it's "not a campaign thing".
We like who we like, or we only have one person in the POTUS race right?
Using a government paper for basically a campaign article, then getting a bunch of your cabinet members to kiss your ass. Seems like a good use of the paper. x9
This is the most X anythings i've ever seen in an article 😁
WHY WASN'T I INTERVIEWED!
NO VOTE!
ONLY THING the absolutely ONLY THING that bugs me is the mixture of timing and such praising content. Mostly timing, the correct thing to do would have been to publish this the night after election or somewhere down to line, not do it the day before election. Thats pure bull****. Go Draak
@ Custer - article is not the problem for me. He did some excellent things and should be commended accordingly.
It's the shouting his personal campaign article with it as they are the same thing. Using you guys as campaigners for him.
That gets some of the negativity. Also the timing of the article.
And why point fingers when you are patting each other on the back when you think you have already won.
Just as long Pizza gets the lowest votes.....
Nice infomercial.
I bought a set steak knives, an abs-trainer, and Air Supply's Greatest Hits from this site.
Go, Oblige!
Hm...
Isn't this article coming... ya know from the White House? The White House will obviously support Oblige, because he's the President.
who's doing all this finger pointing, Joseph?
I'm stepping forward to take whatever hits you and others have to throw, because everything you are complaining about was my doing. if there's blame, it's mine-- but where there's credit, it's Oblige and the entire team who have accomplished so much.
anyone who knows me or has followed any campaign I've been involved with, whether my own or as a supporter, knows I don't take any election bid for granted. it ain't over till it's over-- and I don't stop campaigning till the polls close.
if I were reading about Oblige's mis-steps as a leader or manager or anything of real substance I'd say y'all got a point and let the debate roll on. but to get this nutty over a campaign article in the official paper, and even sillier to whine about how a Shout is crafted... it's just weak, people.
oh, crap... I accidentally deleted an earlier Comment I had posted. just so no one has a tizzy fit and tries to make something of that, here it is again:
"I crafted this article, itself, from concept to execution, including the Shout. I assigned the Press Corps personnel to tasks, they delivered material to me, I blended, edited, added, etc., and published. this article credits not only Oblige for his accomplishments, but also the Media Team and the Military. do we all not deserve recognition for our hard work this past month?
haters gonna hate, and politics is politics. what you don't see here or in Oblige's own campaign pieces is negativity directed at anyone.
I contacted Gulden after he published his "lulz" announcement piece, and was among those who helped convince him to make a serious run at the Presidency. until today's negative remarks from him, I had planned to vote for him."
@Custer - not you with the fingers....just the first part man.
You said about negativity. They don't have to do anything, because they have already won....it's guaranteed.
right there, man... has Oblige or any of us said, "we don't have to campaign, we've already won!"
no, you say that, and others who don't support him say that.
that's the kind of negativity I'm talking about, along with this whole non-issue shitstorm over the article and Shout.
campaign. say positive things for and about your candidate. tell America why they'll make a better President and do a better job.
or at least, if you're going to go negative, do it with something substantive. Oblige's term has not been without shortcomings-- do I need to make a short list for you?
He says it himself here bro, for all to rea😛
http://thebastardsofliberty.forumotion.com/t109-oblige-for-potus
I have no need to make up anything. I have also spoken with someone who spoke on his behalf to me and I replie😛
"I don't understand how Oblige thought he had our nomination in hand as I was never asked how it was going (unless someone else told him). Because if he did, he would have known that he only got 1% of our votes (1 vote). Gulden received 55%."
As for the shout - sorry you were the one who did it...but not everyone feels that it as "non-issue" as you do.
