First off thank you for interviewing me, I usually respect your choices but I disagree with this one. I don't think I'm an outstanding part of this community, as opposed to your previous selections. But since you already sent me the questions I figured - Why not? ^.^

Ofir, some time ago you ran for Country President, although you did not win, what was your motivation to run at that time?

Wow, really starting with the heavy stuff! Well, a little background is definitely needed here - There are basically two camps in eIsrael and without digging too deeply I'll just say that I was a part of one camp and I've heard that "The next month will belong to the other camp if there's no opposition" and basically the camp I support had to have someone. So, I tried to become that someone, this was the "Motivation" if that counts as such in your books, I didn't really need a lot of motivation, just a purpose, and the purpose here was to keep the best interests of our country at heart and represent it with respect.

Could you describe a typical working day for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?

I enjoy helping out and can never refuse an offer to help and this is how I get myself into these certain situations where a CP asks me on chat if I can be his minister of something and I say what I always say - "I can help out, but won't commit to a full month". This time was a real treat since I got paired up with the best government employee in eIsrael, John. He really knows the game and the ways of the game thoroughly, so I really got a glimpse of how he makes things happen and this month was a real gift to me in this manner. So, a typical day? For me? I just check PMs from the night to see if there are any fires I need to put out, go to RL work, get back, go over PMs again, write new stuff when needed [Translate as well, the gift which is a curse in this game], regarding ambassadors it's about guiding them when needed and answering questions if they have any. About MPPs I have to say that it was a tough month to be a MoFA all around the game since approving certain MPPs and letting go of others is frowned upon so that was a potential bump on the road but luckily most countries sympathize and understand. I would like to have been a more active MoFA, the time restraint is really apparent in this role as I've learned. Kudos to John again - He was able to do more than the imaginary "50%" we hypothetically shared.

What is your open and honest view on eIsrael these days? Has it changed through the years?

My profile says I've joined July 2009, I first became active around May 2011 leading up to what I see as the golden era of eIsrael in the form of OJ as CP. He was everywhere, seriously, I can only imagine how many chatrooms he was in. He always kept the fire burning in everyone by checking up and tweaking everything into perfection. I was an aspiring new member of the ministry of the interior back then and took on a role OJ had done himself - The national translator, a thankless job for the most part but I love helping out and can't always refuse. Most average players not only have bad English but bad Hebrew as well, so it was painful to translate some articles. Nowadays, the only two things that stayed the same for me are:
A) The seemingly endless battle between two major camps in eIsrael which we all know who they are.
😎 The "Fast fast, important important, now now, " attitude.I have a love/hate relationship with the game and community and I tend to take big breaks of anonymity so usually only a few people know me. I can only say that even though the game changed so much, it basically remained the same, so did our community, all in all.

Could we see OfirG as Country President soon? (or later?)

Well, as I've said earlier on, I wouldn't do justice to this role. The CP role requires that endless pool of spare time that younger kids seem to have. I'm a working man and if you take roughly 6-7 hours of sleep and 11-12 hours of work and divide all the remaining time left in a day between all recreational activities - You're not left with much. I can see a situation in which I have a month where I'm more available, but probably not in the near future.

Talking about Country Presidents, what are according to you, the best characteristics for a good Country President?

If you meet the time requirement that's half of the deal. A good CP is necessarily one with the amount of time required to maintain all obligations. The other half is filled with your personality, you could be distant or approachable, you can delegate most roles or do everything on your own, it won't matter. This is a relatively simple games with relatively simple requirements. The end result won't differ much if you do it this way or another way and most people will never know if you've given it all you've got or were just good enough at looking like you work hard. Only a few people know the truth at the end of it. I would also think a good CP has to have restraint, I want to believe that a composed attitude will be preferable to the current "Hurricane/snapshot-decider and all around chaos" we've seen in CPs in the past. Or maybe that's only me, I dunno.

What would you like to see changed in our community?

You know what, I honestly don't know. If I ask for an army of polite kids that have perfect social skills and high English level, will this still be our community? I guess that I'd like to see more active people, just enough so I wouldn't have to feel bad for not helping around more. We tend to see roughly 2-4% of the active citizens actually online and out of those maybe a handful of bright people that can spearhead the community. So just by increasing the former percent I'd like to see more people step up, I want to actually not know who to vote for because everyone is exceptional. A man can dream, right?

I think everyone would like to know who your role-model or hero is in eRepublik but also the one who dislike the most in eIsrael?

Hmm. I wouldn't name any names so sorry to disappoint. I think there's a general feeling when someone is liked or disliked so naming names I dislike here wouldn't be a responsible thing to do. With regards to role models, I might sound like a broken record when I say Joe / John but it is exceptionally inspiring to see two people that don't know Hebrew, come here and every day make efforts, both seen and unseen, in order to improve the virtual lives of people they don't know and around 95% of those people will never know that these people are the ones to thank for those actions. It is a quality I appreciate, the endless giving, that has inspired me to contribute as I do to eIsrael even nowadays (For those who wonder, the foreign CS is only because the government requested me to do so, I had previously been with eUSA CS by my own choice but the current CS change is a personal ongoing donation to my friends at Sayeret Matkal and in the government. I don't know if I would have done that if it weren't for the foreign people to inspire me to do so.

Ofir, it seems eIsrael is slowly decaying into the 2 classes it was before. On one side the Israeli who seem to want Israel for rl Israeli and the other group who, also consists of rl Israeli, but are more open for eInternational influences.
We could call the first group the "inward group" and the latter the "outward group".
How will we, as a country, ever going to conquer this internal problem?

It's funny, eIsrael was founded in this game by foreigners so I guess that the "Inward group" pepole have it all wrong, THEY are the foreigners in this game so they should adjust to the reality of things, don't you think? I think that every group that decides to close their doors to certain people because of a certain quality they do not possess - With this case, ban foreigners since they're, well, foreign - Makes a huge mistake in possibly blocking assistance and confining themselves to a narrow point of view. Sometimes people from different places bring new ideas and in order to prevent stagnation you need those ideas and therefore those people. We're not big enough like eChina to allow ourselves to rely solely on people who, let's say "Own the same CS IRL & IG". [In Real Life and In-Game]. I recall a certain nation who believed anyone who is not "Pure blooded" has no right to exist. It is ironic and moronic to be act the same way IG after being those who were persecuted IRL.

Throughout my answers I've mentioned "Two groups" and now that I read this question it is truly clear who those groups are. Those in favor of stagnation and those in favor of ingenuity. Show me the foreigners who have done this country wrong and for each one, trust me, there are over 10 "Pure blooded" players who have damaged this country. You don't need to physically damage in order to be considered damaging. You can speak like an idiot to people from other countries or in your alliance, you can fight wherever you want with no regard to orders and you can greedily keep gold that others agree to donate.

The way I see it, it is much like this game, it's all about numbers in the end. The group that has the most followers shall probably win or make it harder for the other group to dictate life IG.

What would you call you "Golden Moment" in eRepublik till so far?

I think it's natural to look at a more recent event as Golden than any past equally golden moment. So despite being a part of many Golden moments like leading SM and conquering, defending and everything related to the, let's call it "Core in-game mechanics". My Golden moment in this game wasn't in the game at all! It was when I joined TeamSpeak to talk to John and met some crazy Greeks when EleniG gave me this song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihShTNE20z0 - Which turns out to be a hit in Greek and told me to learn one line to say to John, so I did, it was a nice cultural experience [Being exposed to Greeks, not listening to kitschy songs] and I still remember how to say [It is transcribed, this is how I pronounce it] "Yanni, avtos a kosmos de me trelani! Gamoti!" ^.^

Any tips or remarks you want to add to this interview or tell the nation?

This is where I should be inspiring? I'm hardly an inspiring person. IRL people always say I give precise definitions to things, but this is a quality I have which requires contact and mainly body language and micro-movements [Read about it - English - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microexpression - Hebrew - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwDirvd6SAc]. A more general thing to say would be probably "Think before you speak", something most people lack.

קודם כל תודה רבה לך שאתה מראיין אותי, אני בדרך כלל מעריך את הבחירות שלך אבל אני לא מסכים עם הבחירה הנוכחית. אני לא חושב שאני יוצא מן הכלל בקהילה הזו בניגוד לבחירותיך הקודמות. אבל אם כבר שלחת לי את השאלות - למה לא? ^.^

אופיר, לפני זמן מה רצת לבחירות לנשיאות, אמנם לא ניצחת אבל מה היה המניע שלך לרוץ בזמנו?

וואו, ממש מתחיל עם השאלות הכבדות! טוב, בהחלט צריך קצת רקע כאן - היו בעיקרון שני מחנות באי-ישראל ומבלי להתעמק בנושא אני רק אומר שהייתי בעד מחנה אחד ושמעתי ש"בחודש הקרוב המחנה השני ינהיג את המדינה אם לא תהיה התנגדות" והמחנה שהייתי חלק ממנו היה צריך מישהו. אז, ניסיתי להיות המישהו הזה. זה היה ה"מניע" אם זה נחשב ככה בספרים שלך, לא באמת הייתי צריך מניע, רק מטרה - והמטרה הייתה לשמור על האינטרסים של המדינה קרוב ללב ולייצג אותה בכבוד.

אופיר, זה נדמה שישראל לאט נמוגה ל2 מחנות כבעבר. בצד אחד ישראלים שרוצים את אי-ישראל לישראלים בלבד ומצד שני גם קבוצה של ישראלים, אבל פתוחים להשפעות אי-בינ"ל. נוכל לקרוא לקבוצה הראשונה "הקבוצה המכוונת פנימה" ולקבוצה השנייה "הקבוצה המכוונת החוצה", איך אנחנו כמדינה נוכל אי פעם לכבוש את הבעייה הפנימית הזו?
