The whole thing with 1ronman (and rumors of others) has got me thinking. There are two types of players in this game... Those who play to do well as an individual and those who play to do well as a team (country). I assumed most played for their country and valued their own success on how the country did as a whole, but now I am thinking there are a lot more out there that play for individual success mainly.
Be honest... Which are you? (Please note I realize playing for individual success does not mean you would be a corrupt person in a position... It is just a different way of enjoying the game than the way I do).

I am a team player.
What I consider my successes and what gives me enjoyment, fall into both categories. From a business perspective, I play for myself. Being able to turn a profit, all that that entails, I find enjoyment. This is done for me.
When I am in the sphere of politics and the military, it is when I am able to help eCanada out which gives me satisfaction, to make eCanada good and great.

Humm... Good point. I never went the business route. I am sure that adds a spin on things.
Individual. I play for my own enjoyment; if the success of the team bodes well for my enjoyment, then the two interests are complimentary.
I guess what I am trying to get at Saltydog is what make you enjoy the game more... Increasing your own stats and abilities or having Canada do well as a whole? I personally donated 10 gold a few times to 1ronman's tank funds in the past (during the French invasion). Gold I could have used to increase my own abilities. I would have rather seen use keep out the french though than have a few more points of strength.
For me stats don't matter anymore because I hit the key ceilings - work skill, military rank, etc. Because of that I'm much more willing to be selfless in the sense of doing work for the collective benefit. However, I'm not interested in doing work for the collective benefit if the glory is claimed by individuals out of egotism.
Recent events have been leading me to the same way of thinking. I use to not mind who it was that got the ego boost, as long as it was good for Canada. I think I am going to start being a lot more selective in who I support.
I'm an individual!
I'm no longer sure what counts as success in this game. Is it wealth, stats, team effort, or military conquest?
Depending on how you define success, then it may determine your game angle. Since I am not seeking wealth and better stats, I would then suppose I'm interested in how the eCan community fares as a military power. We need tax money and player activity for that, yet I have no time to invest in a business, politics, or a gov. ministry. Therefore, I hope my personal aims somehow add to the team effort.
To quote Mandeville's "Fable of the Bees" as how I think this team works:

I would like Canada to be a team.
Canada first. On the international stage.
Me, a close second. I have never given a thought to leaving Canada.
