Where were you Serbia?

Day 891, 23:07 Published in Hungary USA by ligtreb

Hungary,

I know you must be feeling bad right now over the loss of Heilongjiang. I know what it's like to lose an important region, but that's not the worst thing that happened to you yesterday.

I have a friend who is a high-ranking government official in Serbia. To protect his identity, I'll call him Nikola (that's not his citizen name). It pains us both to have to tell you this, but we feel it must be said, for the good of eHungary.

Nikola told me that Serbia intentionally did not want to help you in Heilongjiang because they wanted to have a monopoly on the Phoenix iron market. Not only did they want to increase their tax revenue by adding Hungarian workers, but the Serbian government wants to make sure they are the top country in Phoenix.

Look at the battle stats, this is proof enough. Serbia provided only 40 fighters, barely anything.

Nikola gave me a chat log between important officials in the Serbian government. We're holding the chat log for now and will release it later if this situation isn't resolved. I trust Nikola, he's a long-time friend, and he's becoming angry at what's happening in Serbia but doesn't want to alienate his friends there.

Serbia has a lot to gain by doing this. With Heilongjiang being gone, Serbia will become the main iron supplier in Phoenix and, more importantly, the richest country in Phoenix. They're going to make thousands of gold off of this to eventually rule the world with their own empire. Their plan is to become bigger than any of the empires in the history of the game, and they need lots of gold to do it. Hungary became the most dominant country in the world because of the gold they had from being the main iron supplier for Phoenix. Serbia wants that power, and will do anything to be on top. Anything. Serbia has the companies in place now to make a fortune in Liaoning with no competition from Heilongjiang.

As hard it was for EDEN to take over Heilongjiang, it will be near impossible for EDEN to win in Liaoning. EDEN can no longer open up battles in both Liaoning and Heilongjiang at the same time, hoping to split the damage. If Liaoning is ever attacked, all of Phoenix will defend it. You can bet that Serbia will have a lot more than 40 fighters and will expect Hungary to do all that it can to help. Obviously, Serbia is more than strong enough to help Hungary if it wanted to. On the same day, Serbia had 1,200,000 damage in Sindh and Vojvodina. But all they could do in Hungary's most important region was 48,000, almost nothing.

Serbia knows they will have Liaoning forever, or at least for a very long time, and will become super-rich off of the iron and being the main supplier to half the world. They care more about money than they do about their friendship with Hungary, and it's not okay.

Nikola tells me that Serbia has a very large emergency fund. They chose not to use it for Heilongjiang, and instead save it for if/when Liaoning is attacked. The saddest part is this. Nikola tells me that the Serbian leadership is considering not even helping Hungary get back on the map, because it would cost too much and they need to think about their own empire now. This is intolerable and disgraceful.

Countries like Serbia that value money more than one of the longest friendships in eRepublik are not real allies. Hungary, are you happy knowing that Serbia let you lose in Heilongjiang so they can become more powerful and rich? It may be time to figure out who your real allies are.
